Thomas's Snowsuit provides a funny story for adults and children. Before reading, their is preparation with high frequency words, introducing characters and reviewing plural words and phonics skills. These skills are then highlighted throughout the reading. Pictures help with comprehension for young readers. The ending includes questions, activities and parent tips. Recommended for grades PreK - 2nd.

When my son was young, we loved reading all the Robert Munsch stories.. When I saw them come up for review, I had to download. What a surprise. Not only are the wonderful and funny stories still here with the absolutely delightful artwork but they have added many additional reading tricks and aids to help develop the young reader. It is a brilliant idea.

But for me, it will always be the stories that I shared with my son and current and future parents will be able to cherish with theirs. Five purrs and two paws up.

This is a simpler version of the story we all know and love. The funny tale features easy to read words and amusing illustrations. My six year old enjoyed being able to read the book on his own, with just a little help from Mom. He laughed out loud at the thought of wearing just underwear at school. Parents will knowingly smile about the joys of trying to get children to wear their snowsuits. At the end of the book, there are activities to further explore the story and build literacy skills with your child.
As a parent to a new reader, I appreciated the Getting Ready for Reading Tips. This book would be an excellent addition to a home library or classroom.

Thank you to NetGalley and Annick Press Ltd for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Robert Munsch doesn’t disappoint! His classic story with well-loved illustrations in an early reader format is a must-read for young readers. The before reading and phonics sections are a great addition and helpful for young readers. The activities and tips at the end are helpful for parents and teachers alike.

I enjoyed the book and had my 7-year-old niece read it to me. We went through the before reading section and phonics first, then she read to me. It was the first level 3 reader she has read, and she was very proud of her accomplishment.

Thank you to NetGalley and Annick Press Ltd. For allowing me to read an ARC of this children’s book. #NetGalley #AnnickPressLtd #ThomasSnowsuitEarlyReader

A big thank you to NetGalley and Annick Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is an early reader-children's book. I guess this is sort of cute. I think that kids will find it funny. I do not think that this behavior okay? He wasn't punished? 3 stars

Once again, the front matter and the back matter are above the level the story is written at. All this front matter should be moved to the back. For this story, I didn’t really like the story. Thomas needs to get in his snowsuit, but he fights with everyone, and gets adults to fight, just because he does not want to wear his snowsuit. I think this is a bad message, and a bad example. The cloths switching thing could be fun if done in a better way.

A great adaptation of Munsch's longer works. This early reader is clearly constructed to provide an enriching experience for readers, with extra pages about word and letter sounds, to help with comprehension of the story, and extension. Probably will most find it's home in a school or one on one with parents.

I didn't know there was a way to make a classic, hilarious Robert Munsch book any better, but whoever developed them into Early Readers has done it. They've added pages of exercises that children will love, including focusing on high-frequency words, phonics, characters, what might happen, rhymes, picture analyses, and spot the differences. If you read these books to your kids, you will love reading these updated versions to your grandkids. If you've never had the pleasure of reading a Robert Munsch book to anyone, it will be a treat for you to start with any of these Early Readers.

I was really excited when I saw that this book was being published. Robert Munsch is a beloved author from the U.S. and Canada who inspired the love of reading in so many children and adults for generations. This book combines the classic story and illustrations that readers know and love with the strategies teachers and parents want to teach their young readers readily available at the beginning and end of the book.

Leveled books are a great tool for young readers but also have a bad rap and history of being extremely dull. This book breaks that mold because it features the same story kids love but is written in an accessible font, and includes pre and post reading activities. Robert Munsch books are great for kids to begin with. They offer repetitive text, are fun to read and listen to and are generally written at about a grade 2 level. The adjustments to this book make it even more accessible and in my opinion are the best of both worlds! As a grade 3 teacher (who is currently doing a Robert Munsch unit in class at the time of this review) I would absolutely like to see this book in my classroom library, especially for home reading or guided reading purposes. Children love these books and they gravitate towards them in grades k-4. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the 3-9 age range, as well as slightly older students who typically struggle with reading or dislike reading or are learning to read in English, as I think this book would be perfect to support them while still being something that is enjoyable to read.

Thanks SO much to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. I can't wait to order copies for my classroom next fall!

In my early teaching years, I was introduced to Robert Munsch books by a fellow teacher. I fell in love with the humorous stories and the fun illustrations. Seeing that there were early reader versions coming out made me excited to see how they were structured. As with the original version, Thomas' Snowsuit Early Reader is silly and entertaining. It is sure to make children laugh. I was pleased to see that there are additions to this version for before and after reading. There is an introduction to the characters in the story and the high-frequency words that are in the book. There is also a short lesson on phonics (letter 's') and plural words. At the end of the book are pictures that could be used to do a retell activity, a spot the differences activity, and a "design your own snowsuit" writing/drawing activity. Then, it finishes off with some tips for getting ready to read. As a teacher, I enjoyed this new version and I know that my students will too.

Good gracious. Munsch does NOT disappoint with this one! My littles are going to bust a gut when I get a hard copy of this to read aloud. I am definitely purchasing this one for my library.

It’s incredible what a small bout of nostalgia can do for the soul. Coming upon the revival of some of Robert Munsch’s books brought a smile to my heart as a 90s baby & I am happy to report that in this edition of the book, children & guardian-readers are encouraged to have fun & learn while reading these delightful stories.

I can personally attest, having been a child growing up in Canada, that wearing a snowsuit can feel like the ultimate chore & for some odd reason, often felt as though we were being set apart; from whom, I truly have no idea because everyone was wearing snowsuits on Halloween so, none of my qualms mattered but it certainly made a difference not freezing to death whilst collecting candy, tobogganing or wadding through winter.

The main character in this story, Thomas, is at the crossroads of the same decisions & irritation we have probably all felt at some point in time. Dressing for winter is a task & for those of us who live in countries, provinces or territories, wherein the weather becomes truly frosty, we have no choice but to double down on the layers. Yet, Thomas refuses with a snarly, booming, elongated: “NNNNNO”.

The adults find themselves tussled with the young independent thinker as they struggle to maintain control, attempting to reinforce the safety of the snowsuit on young Thomas. I remember thinking this book was quite humorous as a child & I still do. The scenes depicted by Michael Martchenko are ridiculous, absurd & abundant in the extreme yet, they depict exactly what it felt like to attempt to get to the end goal. Not being a parent myself I cannot speak to the experiences of all those deep-sighing-parental figures as they patiently encouraged their children to put on their winter gear every day. However, I still find it hilarious to see play out in this book.

With the inclusion of little tips & tricks that guardians can use to help young readers enunciate, distinguish characters & reflect on the storyline, I am very glad to see these books making their way to a greater audience of people that would profit from the guides provided. I was very lucky growing up; my mom was a distinguished voice actor for my stories & I am happy to believe that these guides might help encourage others to experience a story to the uttermost of their imagination’s potential.

Thank you to NetGalley, Annick Press Ltd & Robert Munsch for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
