When night time rolls around, rambunctious Lumber Baby is ready to do anything but sleep . . . much to the frustration of his exhausted family. Luckily his big sis knows exactly how to care for a budding Paul Bunyon. A very cute story for kids, parents, and fans of buffalo plaid.
Thank you to Kind World Publishing and Netgalley for ethe ebook to read and review.
This was so hilarious and not at all what I expected it to be, the lumber baby won’t settle down to sleep and keeps causing a ruckus every night. The family want to sleep but he refuses everything they try.
I really enjoyed the hilarity of the story and the rhyming way it was written was so great. He destroys everything and nothing that worked on his big sister works for him. You see her observing everything and suddenly she knows what to do. What she came up with just continued the hilarity of the story to me.
This was so cute and really funny the illustrations were great and the thread of the story was enjoyable. I recommend if you are looking for a funny easy to read picture book that you give this a shot it made me laugh. It really wasn’t what I thought but was such a good read.
A very relatable story about a baby who just. Won´t. Go. To. Sleep.
I liked the layout and the artwork, the facial expressions of the baby are just too cute. Also, the rhymes are satisfying.
My only peeve is the presenting of the ending, particularly the introduction of the blue ox: (Giving baby stuff to occupy himself with, is perfectly ok to me).
A nice little story about a sleep-deprived family. Because nothing they do will put Lumber Baby to sleep! The illustrations are charming, with just the right amount of text and rhymes to keep my toddler engaged without turning the pages too quickly. smile.
Lovely little tale about a sleep deprived family as nothing they do will get Lumber Baby to sleep (a baby who loves to play lumber jack!). The illustrations are engaging and there is the right amount of text and rhymes to keep my toddler engaged without wanting to turn the page early. I dropped a point as the solution to the sleep deprivation looks a little dangerous lol.
This book was sooooo good. It was funny and cute. And I really really loved it. Oh! And it rhymes. So satisfying.
Lumber Baby is really a quirky tale about loud and noisy infants on one side and their sleep-deprived parents and siblings and even pets. The story is cute and the scenes are fun. A bit eccentric and out of the ordinary.
This is SO spot on for any parent who has a tireless baby! I love the homage to Paul Bunyan and his ox. And I really love that the sister comes up with the plan!
Iumber baby is a lovely little story for babies and young children. Great at bedtime to read when little children do not want to go to sleep. The illustrations are beautiful and fun and the text is clear and precise. Firm favourite book in our house
Lumber Baby takes the cake. It is super cute and a fun story to follow along with. My 4year old daughter enjoyed this book!
With thanks to the author, publishers Kind World Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
A fun story of a little boy who won't go to sleep despite his parents best efforts, and an older sibling who has an idea that saves the day for everyone. A topic relatable to most parents no doubt, and I feel the book is almost targeted at them rather than a child! Nice illustrations and rhyming help to bring the story to life.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. The fun of living with a toddler who refuses to go to bed. Great rhyming and fun illustrations.
Lumber Baby is an entertaining way to rethink bedtime. Stockland easily captures all of the tricks of the trade for putting wee ones to bed. Her use of the older sibling saving the day is a great way to inspire other older siblings to problem solve and show they have ideas too. The rhyming flows beautifully and will add to the appeal with the younger crowd. I would recommend this book to expectant siblings to foster their importance in the family dynamic.
I was intrigued by the cover and the title of this book but finished it wanting more. I appreciate the cute, whimsical factors of this being a children’s book but I wish there was more practicality to it. No parent is going to allow their toddler to have access to wood tools. Maybe I’m just being a stickler (get it?) but this felt a bit too out there to have an impact for families.
This book is so cute! The little ox was precious, and I loved all the illustrations! It reminded me a lot of the 'Beard Baby' books!
This is a very sweet book about a baby who won’t go to sleep. The illustrations are wonderful and fun. This is a good book for older siblings and for littler ones.
Okay, this was so cute. And the “sawing his logs” bit had me in STITCHES at the end. I am absolutely in love with this book. It would be so good as gifts for parents when they have their second baby! It’s funny and sweet and just so much fun.
A cute story of an impish Buffalo-plaid wearing toddler who refuses to fall asleep to the dismay of his very tired family. This book has nice illustrations and lyrical text (although the rhyming and word choice sometimes fell short for me: ie “logrolled” “felled” and the last page just didn’t seem quite right). Overall a nice storyI feel the targeted audience is probably the adult reading the story (and who is quite possibly in the same boat as the family in this story; as so many of us are!) but will appeal to children as well!
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
As an exhausted parent, this particular bedtime routine was hilarious, and honestly, not even that far-fetched from my experience raising 5 kiddos of my own!
Lumber Baby is a fun and colorful picture book about a baby who just doesn't want to go to bed. Through rhyming text and cute illustrations, readers follow one family's journey to finally get some rest.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read and review this title. All opinions and mistakes are my own.
