I knew this was a novella but at 32 pages this can be called a short story. It essentially takes place on the afternoon of a couple's wedding day. Maria was married before and after properly mourning her rake of a husband she has given up her title to marry a country lawyer Frederick. With such a short story kudos to the author for getting in a bit of back story for both and even a brief point of conflict before they consummate the marriage. It's difficult to say much of value about something this short, especially when the majority is ~steamy~ rather than providing plot, but there actually is a plot! And that's impressive.
