This was a cute YA romance. A reality show covers a teen tennis academy and there was a lot of drama that you would expect would come with that. I found many of the characters a bit annoying, though that seems on par for teenagers. I was expecting a bit more maturity from the main character. I really liked the main love interest and he seemed the most mature of all. Overall a cute, quick read if you like YA romance, tennis, and a reality show theme.
Thanks to Netgalley for the copy!
My expectations for this book were sky high and I was so happy when my request for ARC was approved, right away I started reading then... *snore*
To start, I am a big fan of the sports. I watch tournaments from Challengers, 250, 500, Masters, Grand Slams. Hard court, clay, grass. ATP or WTA. Top 100 or so players I know and their best play, their best surface. This book showcase so little tennis like does Shane or Maisie even have one-handed or two-handed backhand? Idk maybe I slept through that part. Maisie ain't even good at tennis and Nia is utterly selfish. The characters are boring. Besides the coaches showing genuine care for the students, all I got here is weak teenage drama and Maisie and Shane kissing every time they get. Fuck the corny-ass The Academy bullshit. I could barely pick this book back up and finish. Fairly disappointed.
REVIEW: It was a nice book. I couldn´t say a romcom, even there was a little of that. I think it was more about values and character.
I liked the slow-pace relationship of Maisie and Shane.
It was a nice that the book was around tennis and the reality shows, a Little “get to know more” of tennis with studies and sport, and “behind the scenes” of the reality shows and manipulations.
It was a light and nice reading.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an okay enemies to lovers. There's three options to how I'll feel about a romance novel: I hate it and won't finish it, I'll think it's a cute read but I'll immediately forget it, or I'll love it and be obsessed with it. This falls in category number two, it was cute and fun to read but wasn't the best romance I've ever read that I'll recommend to everyone. That doesn't mean it isn't good, it is! It just didn't blow my socks off. If you're looking for a cute, fun read, this is it.
DNF. I thought this would be one of those cute hyper-specific-situation romances where you see the character be passionate about something and learn a little bit… but I’m 50 pages in and I can’t get into it. I usually give books a bit longer that that but honestly the thought of trying to push through really rough.
This is a first person, single POV book that is mostly contemporary YA with a good dose of romance. The way it was written--heck, the way it's titled--made me think that it was more firmly in the category of YA Romance. It's definitely mostly about the reality show they're making. I also wouldn't say this is a "fake dating" book, like I thought...based on the description. All-in-all, the book it good, but it's not what you think you're getting.
I have questions about the twist with her uncle. I have questions about how the ending played out with the show. I don't really think it would work the way the twist was written. The dialogue tags could be WAY better. A couple of times the actions of the characters came in direction contrast to what they were saying. (I honestly attribute that to this one looking like it's self published?) Other than that...
The characters were really well written for teenagers. The dialogue was realistic and flowed nicely. The plot was a little all over the place, only in the sense that the book delivers something other than what it sold. But mostly in a "I ordered a cheese pizza" and they deliver a meat lovers.
This is a cute, quick read that is perfect for just about any teen. It's mostly clean--there is a scene where the kids sneak off and drink underage, but they get caught and get in trouble. Solid four star book.

All-star love was a funny read for me. As a person who loves watching reality shows, I really enjoyed the plot of the story and how it takes place in a reality tv show. It was a cute and fluffy enemies-to-lovers romance. Some characters felt boring to me but it doesn’t change how I enjoyed reading this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Stephanie J. Scott for the opportunity to read this YA/High School Sports Romance.
All-Star Love follows a high school tennis prep school who has been recently involved in scandal and is trying its best to climb out of the trenches to give their students the best shot at being successful tennis athletes.
The book follows Maisie and her senior year. She overcomes adversity, set backs, and has a enemies to lovers new relationship with some fake dating mixed in.
I like YA romances but this one seemed a little too middle grade/high school for me. That being said it is a good read, was well written, and I know know more about tennis than I did before!
"I kissed him like nothing mattered. No, I kissed him like he mattered. Like we mattered."

It's such a fun and cute read. I was hooked from the beginning. The plot is super fun and so interesting, I enjoyed it so much. It's swoon worthy. The drama in it is chef's kiss 🤌What I didn't like was how this book was falsely marketed as "enemies to lovers". It's really not. It's just a bad first encounter between two strangers, which is why I give it 4 stars.
The plot revolves around Six Lakes Tennis Academy and we read it from Maisie's POV. Maisie finds herself in a complex situation which has tampered with her and the Academy's reputation. The solution to build that up? Reality TV and some top seed players.
I was worried at first that the plot might not revolve around Tennis too much, but I was surprised by how consistently relevant it stayed to the story.
The characters Maisie and Shane are so cute together. The chemistry is perfect. The two are their own person and know what they want, what their expectations are. Maisie is such a likable character, Shane is full of charm. The supporting characters, except for Nia are quite forgetful. I didn't like Nia, she was a diva in my opinion no matter how Maisie tried to justify her actions.
I will look forward to reading more of the author's works and recommend this book to those who need a light-hearted YA romance. If you enjoy sports romance and tennis in particular, don't hesitate to pick this one up.

So, overall, I thought this was a cute book but pretty mediocre. I thought I would enjoy the reality TV storyline but more often than not it came off as annoying or bland. I was often left confused by some of the characters' choices and perspectives related to the TV show and how it could help them professionally.
I did enjoy the relationship between Maisie and Shane. I think it was a little surface level and some of the "tension" that was created was pointless. But when they were together, I did enjoy their interactions and conversations.
In the end, All-Star Love was a quick easy read for a contemporary romance reader. Not life-changing but not awful either.
This book was good! But first of all, it’s not enemies to lovers. At all. Maisie and Shane were never rivals, they only had a bad first impression. I really enjoyed reading about tennis, it was super interesting even though I understood about half the words they used in matches.
Some of the characters felt a little flat, specifically Shane. He was still a good love interest but I feel like they didn’t get enough time together in order to develop true feelings. I loved Maisie and Nia!!! Anytime Caleb spoke I wanted to yell at him, goodness he was so annoying.
It was a very enjoyable read, the reality tv show aspect brought in frustration and drama and gave insight into how toxic the world of fame can be.
All-Star Love by Stephanie J Scott is an adorable YA sports themed book that was like a breath of fresh air. I don't typically read YA but I love sports books so I decided to give this one a try. The characters were adorable and while the conflict was at times a little repetitive, it was very true to how many high school students would behave, so it didn't detract from the story at all.
I found the concept of the reality TV show filming at the tennis academy a really fun story line. The connection between Maisie and Shane was adorable. Like I said I don't usually read YA, I read NA or other types of romance, so while their cutesy relationship was not what I would typically go for, I found it to be very cute and endearing. Shane was very smitten from the start and it was very endearing.
I would give this book 3.5-4 stars. If you enjoy YA and sports books this is a really cute little read that I think many people will enjoy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.".
All-Star Love was an okay story it was cute. I thought it would be a laugh out loud kinda of read would I recommend it? yes
Thanks Netgalley for a arc copy of this book for a honest review
Happy Reading Lisa 📚
One thing I love is the old school sports style shonen anime - where the sport is sort of the protagonists whole personality. I also adore the fake-dating trope, because we all know how that goes. This is both of those things perfectly combined. Please give this a shot!
Moral of the story: don't trust reality TV.
The book: it was alright. Fluffy and not too deep and average at best.

Enemies to fake dating. YA. Competitive tennis. Reality tv show. I mean, if that doesn't pull you in, what will?
Maisie's plan for her senior year of high school is to wow the college recruiters & play her very best tennis. Instead, the tennis training academy that she's been at since freshmen year is thrown into a scandal when the academy founder & head coach takes off with the school's tuition money. That founder: Maisie's uncle.
With the scandal out, she plans on putting her head down and getting through the year. But her Plan B can't happen after the school's last ditch effort to stay open involves a partnership with reality tv show, The Academy.
She definitely can't put her head down when a transfer student, Shane, gets added to the mix. He just happens to be the number one nationally seeded junior boys' player.
The reality show pushes them to the brink of chaos, threatening to ruin friendships & make a fool out of all of them.
In a last ditch effort to try to control the story about their school, Shane & Maisie find themselves in a fake dating situation.
I loved this one so much more than I thought I would. I wasn't entirely in the mood for a YA, but the multi-layered aspects of it - the tennis, the reality tv show, & the fake dating trope pulled me in.
I loved that a number of the side characters all hat just enough backstory and plot lines that you could see their growth & it added more layers to the story. The friendship between Maisie & Nia was wonderful.
I loved Maisie's growth as she figured things out & started to stand up where she saw justice needed to happen, the way that as much as she was casted out she tried to band everyone together.
The only thing I can think of that would have made this one better is if it had been multi-perspective from the handful of main characters.

This book provided a really interesting take on the pressure of teen athletes and the pressure of reality television. I love very little more than a book about a reality show, and this book provided a different take on the reality show trope (is it a trope? can we call it that?) but I kind of liked the direction it took with it.
I assumed that because “love” was in the title, that the love story would be a bit more central to the plot (now I’m wondering if it’s the tennis term, which…clever), but it was a fairly small part of the story, but it was cute AF. Maisie and Shane are adorable and I loved that they were there to support each other through the bad and to cheer each other on during the good. I honestly could’ve used more of them and less of the cray-cray reality show, but I get it…drama. Regardless, this was a quick and easy read, and it was pretty fun too.
I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours. All opinions are my own.
An enemy to more and fake dating trope.
Things I like about this book:
1. The 2 main characters. Both are strong. opinionated and stubborn. Both are very likable.
2. The plot. I like the idea of reality show/school. It's interesting....
3. The humor, the banter... It's really funny.
Things I don't especially like:
The villains are perfectly despicable.... They may be TOO despicable for me actually.
However, it's a great book overall.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
This is so good!! I genuinely groaned out loud in frustration because the villains in this are so convincingly evil. I thought the romance was really well-done and progressed realistically, which is something that doesn’t always happen in rom-coms. The additional drama of cliques and fights with friends also felt relatable. I’d say this really great on all fronts.
