Mia, Mia, Mia ….. What a twist!

Mia is found on the beach not knowing who she is, where she is or what happened. Her boyfriend Piers collects her from the hospital and takes her home even though he is nothing more than a stranger to her.

Mia takes her time to remember who she is, who her family and friends are and most importantly, what happened to her. She begins to get flashbacks, snippets of what may have happened to her and as her memories slowly return, the shocks keep on coming.

I tried to figure out what I thought was going to happen and I had so many theories, none of which were what actually happened at the end. This is a cleverly written story, a great thriller with many twists and shocks.

I read this book via audiobook and was gifted a copy from @bookouture via @netgalley and I found the audiobook very easy to listen to, so much so, I listened to it in a day! Perks of working from home, getting to listen to audiobooks whilst I work away.

This was my first experience of reading a book by this author and I would definitely pick up another!

Wow this one is a non-stop, chilling, full of twists and turns, that I had to listen to finish this one. This was my first book by this author, and I can see why she is still writing books.
Imagine being washed up from a beach and not knowing who you are? Someone, claiming to be your boyfriend shows up and can verify who you are and the hospital lets you go home. Is this guy from real or does he want something from her.
Mia is the girl who is washed up on shore. Her boyfriend seems to be a bit controlling. He’s handsome and they seem to have the perfect life…
We all know nothing is as perfect as it seems. She starts having flashbacks and recalls something out of the ordinary. Honestly this novel kept me guessing until the last part, and the twist is unbelievable!

This was good, predictable, but enjoyable.
The writing flows nicely and the narration is amazing!
Despite knowing what was coming, I still enjoyed getting there.
Thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture Audio for my DRC.

Clever mystery/thriller. Keeps you wondering who tried to kill Mia, the story is told from her viewpoint. Well plotted. The narrator is excellent and immerses you in the story.
I received this audiobook from Bookouture Audio via Netgalley for a review.

Shalini Boland is an author who I keep seeing around and have been meaning to read. When I saw a new audio available on Netgalley, I immediately snapped it up. To my surprise, this is one of her older books and I'm guessing the audio is probably new.

When a woman is washed ashore, she finds herself unable to remember who she is or any other details about her life. Thankfully she has friends and family who are willing to help her put the pieces together. But can she trust them all?

This was a quick listen with fantastic narration. I really enjoyed the story and appreciated several twists though I did manage to predict the ending. It was my first Shalini Boland book but will definitely not be my last.

I have to start by saying I'm a super fan of Shalini Boland and I love Katie Villa as a narrator. They're quite a team. I've never read a bad Shalini book. This one wasn't quite as good as some of her others(The Family Holiday is my favorite!) but I still really enjoyed it.

We open with a Jane Doe who's washed ashore with amnesia. Some Good Samaritans get her to the hospital and it turns out she's in perfect health besides a bump and memory loss.

Before too long, a man claiming to be her boyfriend comes to claim her. Piers immediately gives off messy vibes. He's very impatient and whiny. He's having to help her realize who she is, apparently she's Mia, and if I were her I'd be wondering why I'm with this loser and it seems like she is catching the same feels.

Regardless, he takes her to her nice home and she's confused. He tells her she stopped working. Then how does she have money for all this?? He's pretty evasive.

Pretty soon she starts to perk up and does some of her own investigating into who she was. Her only memory is of one woman.. or is it a dream? It seems like someone has made it intentionally difficult for her to put all the pieces together and there's no one around she can truly trust so she really has to rely on herself and try to dig up those memories before something even worse happens.

This one moved a little more slowly than I usually prefer but with Shalini at the wheel, I'm always willing to take the long way home.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to listen and review the audiobook!

The Girl from the Sea by Shalini Boland, was a great read that had me on my toes! This thrilling psychological suspense story was of a girl (Mia) who is found washed up on a beach. Upon a local woman discovering her, she is taken to the hospital to recover. It's determined she has retro-grade amnesia. She doesn't know her name, her age, where she lives, ...nothing. She doesn't even know what she looks like.

A man claiming to be her boyfriend shows up to claim her. She doesn't remember him either. He takes her home and soon starts to fill in the blanks of her life regarding family, finances (she's rich), and tries to reintroduce her to friends. But she's not feeling it, she's greatly annoyed with him, and feeling nothing for him romantically even though they were suppose to be "a couple" before she got amnesia, as well as supposed business partners too.

Slowly, as information and bigger secrets are exposed, Mia's life gets darker and more complicated. All her emails prior to the accident have disappeared. She has the sense someone tried to kill her. Will they try again? Who was it? Why? If she can't remember any of the events or people from her past, how can she trust anyone?

This book has more twists and turns in it than a pretzel! It's a fast paced page turner that had me engaged from start to finish and what a wild ending!! Narrated by Katie Villa, Ms. Villa does a good job of carrying the story with the characters in realistic tones.

This book was soo good and soo addicting. I started it early this morning and finished it less than 12 hours later! Not gonna lie at first I wasn’t for sure if this book was for me. But man am i glad i stuck it out! This book had so many twists and turns. Most of them i didn’t see coming. Which like I’ve said before is hard to do in thrillers because i read so many of them that i figure them out pretty quickly. The premise of this was unique and something i haven’t read in a long time! This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. Such a good read and i highly recommend!

In the audiobook “The Girl From The Sea,” the storyline of a girl washed up from the sea with amnesia feels familiar. At first, I was wondering if I had read this before. However, I’m so glad I stuck this out because this fast-paced thriller had some original twists that I did not see coming! I listened to this audiobook in 1 day! As the girl on the beach learns more about who she is, she discovers that she is surrounded by people telling her lies!

Thank you @netgalley and @bookouture for allowing me to listen to this audiobook ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

WOW! I didn't see that coming! Great story with the main character having amnesia and trying to piece together her lost memories. I felt bad for her since she didn't have any real friends or family to rely on. But the ending totally threw me for a loop! I'll definitely recommend this to others and read more from this author. The narrator was ok.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audiobook on ARC for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for this audiobook ARC.

Mia is found on a beach with memory loss and no idea what happened to her. After being released from hospital she tries to get back into her life, but not sure who to trust.

This was extremely fast paced, it started off really great and kept running. The inheritance that she received 3 years earlier really made for a good curveball and made you think it might be the reason behind her injuries. The ending was quick, smoothly executed but a small bit predictable.

The narrator was really good. Really kept you engaged.

An overall good listen, might have expected a bit more from the ending.

A woman washes ashore on a beach with no memory of who she is or how she got there. A man who tells her he’s her boyfriend, Piers, identifies her as Mia James. Piers shares how amazing and wonderful their life together is, and at first Mia agrees. But she feels no connection to her home or the man she’s supposed to be head over heels in love with. Why have her emails and texts been deleted? Why do her neighbors go out of their way to avoid her. Slowly, Mia’s memory begins to return and she begins to believe the accident that led to her memory loss was anything but. Creepy and claustrophobic

The Girl from the Sea by Shalini Boland. Narrated by Katie Villa was another wonderful book by this author. I remember reading this when it first came out and I was lucky enough to have the audiobook to listen to whilst I sunbathe in my garden.

This is a standalone psychological thriller that will have you gripped from the beginning till the end. It had great twists and turns throughout. It's a brilliant audiobook....Great for your holiday lying by the pool, on on the beach with a cocktail or two. But, no more than 2!!!!!..........

When a young woman wakes up on a beach with waves tumbling over her. Very disoriented and has no idea of who she is or where she is. She is discovered by a woman walking her dog and an ambulance is called,
She is taken to hospital to be checked over. So many questions and no memory on who she is?

Has she got family?

How did she get there?

Has she got a partner?

So many questions she can not answer...............

Highly Recommend Shalini's Book.....Excellent author. Katie Villa the narrator was brilliant She was perfect.

I am a big fan of author Shalini Boland and have read most of her books, but somehow I missed The Girl from the Sea when it was originally published in book form in 2016. Big thanks to Bookouture for releasing this audio book version, narrated by Katie Villa. When possible, audio book is my preferred medium, so receiving this one as an arc was a lottery win.

The story is a solid Boland psychological thriller and rings all the bells and whistles for me. Briefly, Mia James washes ashore on a beach narrowly avoiding death by drowning. She has no memory of who she is, or the people around her, and is uncomfortable when introduced to a stranger claiming to be her boyfriend. Oh, and she is obscenely wealthy living in a gorgeous home.

This is my genre. I love a good domestic thriller and can recommend not only this book, but any Boland book. Additionally, narrator Katie Villa does an excellent job in her choice of voices and this is one of the few books I did not feel the need to increase the playback rate. The story is read in the appropriate pacing and style.

Thank you to Bookouture and Negalley for the opportunity to listen to this one in advance of its May 13, 2022 release.

Absolutely loved this book it helped that this author is a favourite of mine but the lady who told the audiobook was such a delightful listen. I’d go so far as to say she’s the best audiobook reader I’ve listened to in a long time. Brought the story to life for me and I was enthralled over the bank holiday weekend. Fabulous storyline and audiobook was an added bonus. Thank you!
