Holy Smokes! This was amazing! Such a wild ride! I couldn't put this down and I'm so excited to get this into our customers hands! I love that it begins and ends at Christmas. So, many twists and turns. Felt like I was on a roller coaster ride and hanging on and anticipating the next turn. We will be hand selling this like crazy this holiday season and beyond! Lisa Unger has become a new auto-buy for me!

Have you ever wondered about your family's history? Have you ever used a genetic test to see where your DNA leads you? I have always been curious, after reading this book I am going to think twice if I want to open that Pandora's box! Lisa Unger does a fabulous job creating an atmospheric, suspense filled ride. That will have you sitting at the edge of your seat, biting your nails, and gasping in surprise at every turn.

Larger than life Mako has planned a weekend getaway for himself, his sister, and their long-time friend in a stunning, completely isolated cabin. A way for them to unplug and come together with their significant others. As bad weather descends upon the beautiful cabin, cutting them completely off from civilization. No phone, no Wi-Fi, road blocked. No one can get in or out, or so they believe.

I was immediately hooked and ripped through the pages. I loved how it all leads back to family. What makes a family? Does your DNA determine who you will be? Are certain people prone to do bad things because of who their parents are? Thank you to Lisa Unger, Park Row, and NetGalley for my gifted copy of this suspense filled read.

The synopsis sounded good and I was really swept away by the beginning and middle pages. However, the last third of the book kinda lost me. I'm usually a big Lisa Unger fan so I'm not sure why I lost interest. I think this book could have been a lot shorter than it was. If you're a diehard Lisa fan and love hints of the paranormal, snatch it up. It's an interesting story of what's really in our genetics, is blood thicker than water, and who could be out there watching us. Thanks, Netgalley, for my arc.

Thank you Net Galley for providing me a copy of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six.
This one wasnt too bad but I didnt like the use of so many characters and they lacked something I am not quite sure but just didnt click with them.. I don't like when there are too many and this one was a bit over the top. It was a decently told story but wish it could of been better. Overall it was an okay story, it could of had more potential but that's okay, not every book is perfect.

Just wanted to start by saying thank you to Killer Crime Club on Facebook for hosting a give away of this book. I was privileged with getting an e-ARC of this title.

I will be honest, I had to look at a few different reviews to figure out how to write my thoughts on this one. This book was good but completely all over the place. As someone else said "Messy but Entertaining". The different views and time lines were all over the place and extremely confusing. At first you think the host Bracken is supposed to be some super creep and play more of a main character, which he isn't. Then out of no where is Henry, who doesn't even play a vital role, but you get to know his history real deep. I think if Henry was written as Joshua, it would have made it a bit better and more twisted. But once everything finally was getting pieced together and light shed on situations. The book itself got better. All on all a good Thriller, kept you guessing and trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

BRILLIANT! The best locked-in thriller I have ever read! Of course, this is Lisa Unger, so you do not expect anything less.

Her 20th novel, the "queen" of psychological suspense, Lisa Unger returns following Last Girl Ghosted (5 stars) with her latest complex, multi-layered knockout gripping thriller—SECLUDED CABIN SLEEPS SIX.

OK, readers, there is much to discuss here.

A luxury getaway weekend becomes a living nightmare when DNA history and dark secrets of the past convene and ignite for an intense, twisty "thrills-by-the-minute locked-room blockbuster!

The novel starts on Christmas night 2017 in Florida at a family gathering when family members find DNA (Origins) testing kits; however, no one seems to know who left the mysterious gifts under the tree—from Santa.

Mother- Sophia
Father- Leo
Daughter - Hannah and husband, Bruce and Gigi, nine-month-old daughter
Older son: Mako and his wife, Liza

The discussion turns to Mako, who has booked a luxury getaway weekend at a cabin in North Georgia for Hannah/Bruce, himself and his wife, and another couple, Cricket (a friend of Hannah's and ex-girlfriend of Mako and her new boyfriend, Joshua-the mystery man-cybersecurity expert.)

Three nights. All expenses paid, from a personal chef, massages, fireplace, yoga, hot tub, and wellness retreat.

June 2018: They all drive to the cabin seven hours away, and Hannah leaves her daughter home.

The cabin is called Elegant Overlook. Peaceful, secluded. luxurious. isolated.

Managed by a company called Luxury Cabin Rentals of Sleepy Ridge The website seemed elegant and expensively designed, showing five cabins, and theirs would be the grandest. But what is the true story?

Bracken Jameison, the owner and operator of Luxury Cabins of Sleep Ridge and built all of them himself. Is he who he says he is, and what is he hiding? CREEPY.

He sees these guests as:
The pretty yogi.
The party girl.
The stay-at-home mom.
The tech mogul.
The computer wonk.
The mystery man.
All players on his stage.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

After online research, Hannah could not find any social media and, after digging further, found out the property was full of ghost stories from some reviewers that sounded creepy. The people said they felt like they were being watched.

"Happy families. Unhappy families. Some families pretend to be happy that have a carefully constructed facade, just barely propped up by secrets and lies. One breath and it all falls down."

Bruce works for Mako and, previously, Hannah in event planning. His gaming company is called Red World. Mako is wealthy and successful He also is ruthless and has a past and enemies. Has his sister always overlooked his flaws and secrets?

There is a storm brewing OUTSIDE AND INSIDE.
Everyone has SECRETS.

"Beware that when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster."
—Friedrich Nietzsche

Hannah thinks something is off with her husband Bruce. What is he hiding? Is he having an affair? She senses the stress between Bruce and Mako. Mako is very secretive, and his yoga instructor wife, Liza, is receiving threatening texts she keeps to herself. Cricket and Joshua are wild cards.

In the past, at this resort, a family had been murdered. There was an investigation. Stories of a woman walking through the trees wailing for her children. The girl's body had been found far from the house by the creek. Some guests reported strange noises.

I dare you to try and put the puzzle pieces of this one together. You will never guess!

We hear from POV:
Hannah (past and present- 2001/2018)
Liza
Cricket
Bracken (owner of the cabins)

We also hear from mysterious POVs
Trina
Henry
Catrina
(these identities are revealed later in the book). Some from 1997-2018.

"Some of us are seekers. Broken links. We're always trying to figure out how and where we fit. Soul Miners."

Power out.
Someone missing.
Someone hurt.
The cameras are not working.
Tree Down.

Eerie, claustrophobic, and chilling! The sins of the past rise to the surface when all is unveiled. You will be glued to the pages. Often, monsters are right in front of us.

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! Both storylines are equally as compelling, and I loved the DNA twist and the getaway cabin. I am a Floridan and formerly had a luxury log cabin in a luxury resort, Big Canoe, in N. Georgia mountains, so this was Fun!

INTENSE! If you love smartly written, complex, multi-layered thrillers, this is your book! I love any stories about DNA and genealogy.

If you enjoy mysterious and funny DNA stories, try Sleepwalk by Dan Chaon.

You can't go wrong with a LU book. No one can do complex, twisted, eerie, and chilling like Lisa! One of my favorite authors—I have read all her books and anxiously await the next. Get this on your TBR list now!

Thank you to #ParkRow and #NetGalley for an eARC to read, review, and enjoy!

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger is another suspenseful novel by a very talented author. I have read a few of Lisa Unger’s books and she has never disappointed me. This one has all of her writing expertise that I love in her books. Three couples in a secluded cabin, what more could you ask for?!?! This is a suspenseful thriller that will take you on one of the bumpiest rides of your life! It is filled with twist and turns and unexpected mystery. It is told in multiple point of views and timelines. This one has a lot going on but Ms. Unger keeps it together. It is a fast read but the mystery is paced just right. It is filled with family secrets, mystery, drama and intrigue. An exciting page turner that will keep you guessing until the very end. You won’t be able to put this one down, you will be up all night to finish it. I highly recommend this very unique novel by a very unique author. Great job Lisa Unger!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, Park Row and Lisa Unger for an advanced copy of this captivating novel in exchange for my honest review.

Really enjoyed the audiobook of this thriller! Six people are vacationing in a cabin together, and things get crazy. We have the POV of three of the people from the cabin, as well as three other people who are connected to the story. It wasn't as confusing as it sounds, and it all came together well. There were two small things about the end that I didn't like, so I'll give it 4.5 stars. But overall really good!!

Things I didn't like about the ending:
-Trina being a ghost and seeing other ghosts
-Liza staying with Mako

I enjoyed Unger's last book so I was so excited to read this newest one! This book was almost a DNF a few times - I didn’t love it - but didn't hate it. It captured my attention enough to keep reading in the beginning, but the excitement slowly fizzled. I was expecting it to be a classic murder mystery in a secluded cabin during a big storm, but this one was less murder mystery and more “creepy”. There were two main storylines that seemed to run parallel throughout. Lots of POVs to keep track of. I thought the storyline was unique, integrating DNA testing.

Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing, Park Row & NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this digital ARC

Kind of a disappointing read. The premise was interesting, but it took quite a while to even get the plot going, and i spent most of that more interested in Henry’s plot and wanting to know more about it.

A huge thank you to the publisher for allowing me this advance copy. Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six sounds like a cozy mystery but in reality, it is true horror. What happens to the characters throughout this book is truly terrifying. I loved every second of it. Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six had me on my toes until the very end. 5 out of 5 stars! I can't wait to read more from Lisa Unger.

I absolutely love the premise of this book--couples on vacation in a luxury cabin in the woods, but everything is not what it seems as someone is watching and waiting from the woods. The different facets of this book come together beautifully: the environmental threat, the affairs, the secrets...all leading to murder. This isn't necessarily the most novel psychological thriller but my god it was definitely a fun ride!

What a great read for spooky atmospheric vibes. This is the story of a dysfunctional family and friends group that do everything together. They live together, work together, and play together. But, of course, they all have secrets and mistakes that they would like to keep hidden. Mako, the successful Tech guy and brother to Hannah, suggests that he and his wife, and Hannah and her husband take a vacation weekend at a secluded, rural, and well-fitted cabin in Georgia. Hannah will have to leave her child for the first time and is very unsure about this trip but sees how important it feels for her brother so she reluctantly agrees. An additional couple who are close friends (Cricket +1) also are invited. The plans are set months ahead of time and when the time comes, they all head up there. Unfortunately, there is a hurricane bearing down nearby, the cabin will be cut off from civilization for a few days if trees are down or roads washed out. This could be a great way to unplug or it could be a recipe for disaster.
The setting is terrific. It is an upscale home with all that the group could need as the storm hits, but will they survive their dark secrets? The atmosphere is beautifully set and the story is well paced. The timeline jumps between the past and present and also between different POVs. Everyone has something that they want to keep quiet it seems and this leads to a fun ride and page-turning conclusion.
I'm not 100% sure that I loved how neatly wrapped up this story is by the last page. In some ways, it felt like there could have been more ambiguity as to each character's conclusion. All in all this is a great read and would recommend.

Good read but not anything special for me. If you enjoy locked door mysteries, you'll like this one but that's not always my thing. It's also a fairly long book

It surprised me that I had to force myself to finish this one. Lisa Unger is one of my favorite authors (love her Hollows books) and I fully expected to be scared to pieces by Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. It does have a lot of creepy moments and the atmosphere is very dark. Unger tied the characters together eventually, but it took far too long to get interesting. I just didn't enjoy reading about ridiculously rich young people who just wanted to get drunk/high. Can't say I was a fan of any of them by the end.

Thank you so much to Park Row Books and Lisa Unger for my copy of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. Three couples are in for more than they bargained for when what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend at a secluded Georgia cabin turns into a harrowing nightmare. Incredibly atmospheric, this locked room mystery had me turning pages from start to finish. Fast-paced, suspenseful with a unique slant on the plot, this was a highly enjoyable read!

I tried reading this but I couldn’t get into it. The storyline is too slow. I found all the characters unlikable

Messy but Entertaining

Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six is a psychological thriller about three couples who vacation in a luxury cabin in the woods of Georgia. With the threat of a hurricane, hidden motives come to light, affairs are revealed, and a dark secret is unearthed, culminating in murder.

There are numerous characters and multiple points of view to keep track of, some of which are superfluous. The timeline also alternates between the past and present. All of the characters are cliches and lack depth.

The plot is beyond convoluted. There are too many characters, and some storylines are never resolved. There is one story in particular that I think was included to be a red herring, but it could have completely been eliminated.

On top of all this, the writing is cheesy.

There are some good parts to this book: The plot has potential, and the cabin setting elevated the creepiness. Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good, and I was left with a lot of sighing and eye rolls.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

There were quite a few points of view in this book and at times it was hard to keep the characters straight. It also wasn't as "scary" as I expected but it was very thrilling!
