Lisa Kessler is at it again with this interesting and well-developed world! I love how she takes paranormal ideas and feeds them into something very mortal seeming characters and storylines. This is book #7 of the Sentinels of Savannah and Kessler wanted to show us just how great she is at finding fresh ideas - we have a mermaid in this one! I've read so few books where one of the characters is a mermaid.

Annika is just that, charged with protecting the other mermaids, she's up for the job, she is extremely capable of taking care of herself and anyone under her protection. Which is why she now finds herself on land for an extended period of time. Several Mermaid combs have gone missing and it's up to her to find them - anyone who possesses a mermaid's comb essentially can make them do whatever they'd like.

She comes across Duke, one of our last single members of the Sea Dog crew and accuses him of stealing them, she even shoots him! Thankfully Duke is a mortal made immortal and recovers, vowing to help Annika in her search, not just because he's drawn to this woman who was so quick to maim him.

The steam is off the charts in this book and very quickly Annika and Duke head into the deep end, but how will they make this work? Duke might be immortal, but he can't live in the sea, and Annika is only immortal if she lives in the sea. What follows is the gang coming together as well as the head of Department 13(who reveals there is a traitor who has stolen the combs as well as several other powerful artifacts), to help flush out the thief, revealing a past enemy of the Sea Dog crew. One of many big reveals as well as false paths throughout this book.

I really enjoyed this book and Duke/Annika developing more to their relationship. I think I would have liked to see more in depth about Annika's world, it was a lot to take in without truly reading scenes in that space(but how would they?).

I'm always a fan of these novels even if they fall a little outside my normal level of paranormal - so I highly suggest them for any level of paranormal reader. While it would be helpful to read the other books in the series first(and you should just because they are super fun and interesting) you can read this as a standalone.

My opinion is my own and freely given.

Wow - immortal pirates and mermaids ahoy!
Another story in the Sentinels of Savannah series - what a joy!
A fantastic mix of legends and fantasy
Make this a story not to be missed for me.

Two immortals who are in danger
But who from? That answer is stranger.
Someone from the past they thought was dead
Now they're just wishing he was instead.

An enthralling adventure with a paranormal twist
Make this whole series one that's not to be missed
Filled with romance, secrets, danger and family, too
I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to you!

What a superb series this has proved to be
And this is a fab addition I couldn't wait to see.
It was well worth the wait, such a great read
Now there's just the finale that I now need!

The tension is mounting as this series goes on
Each story complete but leading in to the next one
For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review

Immortal pirate and beautiful mermaid - yep, if land or by sea and let's add in disgruntled and greedy captain, plus maybe a secret government agency archiving relics that may or may not be safe! A fun adventure with a nice simmer - definitely worth the read. A great weekend or vacation delight!

He's an immortal pirate and she's an immortal mermaid with one little problem - she's only immortal when in the water. Now she's on land, searching for her comb which has a power over her in the wrong hands and she's dying if she cant get back to the water. Duke will do all he can to help her get her comb back even if it means losing his heart in the process.
I have read this series of books since book #2 and I have liked all the stories thus far, but this one was a stretch of the imagination for me. I have grown to really love the Sea Dog crew but I didn't care for Duke falling for a mermaid.
Lisa Kessler writes so very well and pulls you into the story immediately. I love how she engages the reader in the action, and it is full of action! I gave this book 4 stars because of the writing quality and the adventure. But while it was nice to see some of the old crew, have steamy scenes, read about this adventure, the main characters suffered a little bit. There isn't a whole lot of character development in this one, I didn't learn too much about Duke other than what I already knew and Agent Bale and Dept 13 problems seemed to take away from much of the story instead of enhancing it. I ended up not caring for Annika because she didn't have much depth to her and the whole notion of where she came from was just so far out there for me it detracted from my overall understanding of the storyline. But that is just my take on it.
I do highly recommend this entire series even though this was not my favorite book.
I received an advanced copy in exchange for a review but my views/opinions are entirely my own.

An immortal Pirate and a mermaid, make a partnership to find her mermaid comb. Whoever has the comb could compel her to do unspeakable things. Her very existence depends on finding it.
They waste no time to express their attraction to each other and begin an affair. As their relationship grows, they face the impossibility of being together. The of mystery of Department 13 and the stolen mermaid comb leads them to face a dangerous enemy and their immorality. Paranormals aren't usually books I like to read, but this one is very well written and entertaining. I don't really see this as a stand-alone, but part of a continuous series.
Heat level 5
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

We get mermaids in this one!
Who knew I needed a pirate and a mermaid falling in love. It was interesting to learn the differences Annika notices. We also learn more about the captain they left behind on a deserted island.

This can be read as a standalone but I recommend starting at the beginning of the series because there are bits of the past sprinkled through all the books.

Duke is held at gunpoint by a mermaid demanding her comb. It was given to the crew following the events of the last book. Annika is desperate to get her comb back. If it falls into the wrong hands they would be able to control her. To makes matters worse this means she hasn't been in the water in over a month.

Despite their rough meeting Duke vows to help Annika get her comb back, even reaching out to Department 13. Only for them to discover that her comb has been taken, an agent is missing and so are other relics.

Annika tries to keep Duke at arm's length but that gets hard the more time they spend together.

Thanks so much to the author, Entangled and NetGalley for this ARC to review.

This was my first book by Lisa Kessler and it was a fun adventure. I definitely plan on looking into the beginning books of this series

A mermaid is looking for her comb. A pirate decides to help her. But a dangerous enemy has it. Duke is an immortal pirate and Annika is the mermaid who needs his help. As the danger gets closer and so do their feelings, once they find the comb Annika will go home. Maybe they can figure out a way to stay together.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This series is so much fun with immortal pirates and then they start falling one by one for their perfect match. This time, there are only two pirates left - Duke and Eli - and it is Duke's turn. This was going to take some work for them to figure out how a pirate and a mermaid could have a relationship! She needs the water and while he is immortal, Duke can't live in the water!

While they are growing closer, they hunt for Annika's missing comb and run into danger. An old enemy emerges and Annika faces a big betrayal.

The rest of the gang and their wives help out as well as the head of Department 13, David. While the hunt for the villain is not resolved, there is a HEA for Annika and Duke.

I am hoping that we will hear more about Flynn's lady that he broke away from to protect her but I bet there is a great story there!

Ever heard that expression, “Mermaid hair and I don’t care!” Well mermaids do care about their hair and the combs that they own. Pirate’s Protector has mermaids like you have never seen before. Especially with one that is able to surprise even Duke Proctor. Joining together to find Annika Mare’s comb while he finds out all things mermaid makes this a fun, steamy and action-packed read.

Lisa Kessler has topped herself this time with the mystery concerning Department 13 thefts, mermaid world and the Sea Dog’s crew. Power artifacts and even more powerful chemistry keeps the pages turning as fast as you can read them. Get all the lowdown on the Sea Dog’s Crew by reading the entire series. If you love mermaids start with Pirate’s Protector, then go back and catch up on the others.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a fun series! Love the pirates, the action, and the sweet and steamy romance! Add in a mermaid and magical artifacts, and you have yourself an interesting time! Mermaid Annika and Pirate/Immortal Duke are cute together; good chemistry. I like Annika’s sass too! Entertaining, light read! Enjoyed the adventure!

Pirate’s Protector is the seventh book in the Sentinels of Savannah series by Lisa Kessler. This action-packed, magical paranormal romance will pull you in from the beginning and leave you wanting more. I enjoyed the characters, the mythology, the light angst as well as the running back story (which left me wanting to go back and read the previous books in the story)

This is my first adventure with this series
And it was an adventure
This read opens with humor and chaos and continues at the same pace - which kept me flipping pages as fast as I could - No peeking

Duke is bored and is contemplating a change of life when the sexiest of little females accuses him of theft and proceeds to engage him in a duel - Well not so much a duel as just plain firing on him

Did I mention Duke is a human turned immortal thanks to imbibing from the Holy Grail and dear sweet head strong Annika has a tail?

Annika needs her to recover her comb, and quickly
Despite her first, not so swimmingly, encounter with Duke he agrees to assist her in its recovery - after all his crew did hand it over for safe keeping and it is now lost

This is an action-packed "quick to fall but hesitant to hope" romance that was just plain fun to read
I enjoyed the characters, the mythology, the light angst as well as the running back story (which left me wanting to go back and read the previous books in the story)

Pirate’s Protector by Lisa Kessler
Sentinels of Savannah book series #7. Paranormal romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series. While not a cliffhanger for the couple in this book, the overall ARC still has unanswered and unresolved questions.
When Duke is held at gunpoint by a sexy mermaid, he knows his life is about to get interesting. Annika is looking for her missing comb and Duke knows where it is. Or at least, where is was.
Meanwhile there seems to a traitor in Department 13.

A fast moving adventure with danger from a traitor and a past enemy the Sea Dog crew thought was long buried. The story includes a sexy romance with a mermaid, anatomy differences explained and steamily dealt with.
A bit more about pirates Flynn and Eli is revealed, both I expect will play more of a role in the future. We also learn more about Department 13, the team there and the retirement process.
Overall an exciting story and addition to the series.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

An immortal pirate and a mermaid, secret magical divisions of the government.

Stolen combs and long dead villains that reveal themselves.

Super steamy scenes! I had no idea that mermaids had O's different than humans. I'm mer-curious. oh and he is a Jason Momoa type, 🥵

This is the 7th in the series but I didn't feel lost. They told some stories that were from the previous books which made me curious to read about them.

Thank you entangled_publishing and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

I’ve been reading this author for quite a while, and in doing so I know just what I’ll get with her books. This is a fast-paced, quick read, with adventure, romance, mystery, and a hunt for a missing object. These are always fun reads, and they are almost always about the romance. I like the adventure a little better. LOL! I’m left wanting to find out more about quite a few things, and I’m hoping the author will indulge that curiosity with more books after Flynn’s book. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I just can’t help but love this series!
I just love that in each installment we get to know a little bit better all Sea Dog’s crew, and in this one we see more of a character that was so quiet and private in the other books, so i felt that all was new.
The plot with the merfolk was really interesting and got me addicted to this story.
The only point in this book that I wasn’t totally invested was the insta love, but its just a personal preference! Other than that, the couple was perfect and i just adore the ending, how they dedicated they were to the other.

I can’t wait to the next one, and I hope we get the story of Captain Flynn.

Thanks Entangled team and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was gifted in exchange of a review, but all this opinions are my own,

Quick read and good read for those who like their paranormal. This one is about an immortal pirate Duke and Annika, a mermaid trying to find her comb to stay alive. What happens is beautiful romance with evil right behind them.
Part of the Sentinels of Savannah series by Lisa Kessler.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. It held my interest and I wanted to find out what would happen. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

I was intrigued from the start.with this book. Mermaids being immortal aliens was quite a different take on them.
The story was twisted enough to keep me guessing. Love when that happens.
