It’s so such an interesting and different book from start to finish. I was intrigued but mystified sometimes with which way the plot went. It was entertaining though.
This story was too long. Some scenes felt clipped with no transition. The plot was there but something was missing. Also she really didn’t go on that many dates. She seemed very elementary, surface level attention from these guys made her fell all giddy and such. This is a friends to lover (closed door) romance. It has a cute story line so give it a try you might like it.
The concept of this book was very similar to that of my own life. While I maybe a few years older than Indigo and have not gone through all of the struggles that she did, I totally understand her pain and have thought about doing what she did many times just to avoid being single at a certain point in my life. I only wish I had a Tate in my life as well.
I love a story of character growth and this had it in spades. Watching Indigo from the beginning to the end of this book was beautiful to follow. While I may not have agreed with all of the choices that were made, her journey was spot on.
While this was cute, there was nothing that made this one memorable for me. I did love the main character energy of the dog however.
This was a fun, while predictable friends to lovers story. I enjoyed reading Indigo's journey and narrative, but I just couldn't fully buy into the chemistry... but maybe that's just me.

Fun and fresh contemporary romance book that any librarian can be comfortable adding to the shelves.
Indigo Clark is a fashionista who loves her job, her family, and her friends. But she feels like something is missing in her life: a romantic partner who can make her happy. She decides to go on a dating spree and try out different men, hoping to find her Mr. Right. But she also has to evaluate her feelings for Tate, her best friend who has always supported her. She meets Nathan, who has a dark past that he doesn't want to share. And she gets to know Diego, who is a charming lawyer who challenges her. Indigo is a strong and independent woman who knows what she wants, but will she find love along the way?
THE MANY DATES OF INDIGO is the first book I’ve read by Amber D. Samuel. The novel was humorous and at times fun. This is a cute tale, but it was a bit wordy which caused the pace to lag, predictable and there could have been more character development in building chemistry between Indigo and her many prospects. I will read more books by Samuel in the future.

Review of “The Many Dates of Indigo” by Amber D. Samuel. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC 💖
This book is filled with cute banter, which I really enjoyed! Plus, Indigo is so funny. And Gambit, the dog!!!! I’m down for every book that has dogs, haha!
Overall, this book was a cute childhood best friends-to-lovers book, but predictable from the start. To be honest, though, sometimes I really don’t mind. Reading should also be a form of total relaxation, and this book did just that for me.
The story was very nice, the characters were likable and I got hungry during all the eating-scenes. Indigo eats yummy things! It did take quite long for Indigo to figure out who’s the right one for her, I’ve been telling her since the very beginning of the book, so there’s some slow-burn in here for sure.
I listened to this as an audiobook as well, and the narration was very pleasant.
Little synopsis (no spoilers):
Hair done. Nails too. Make-up flawless. Indigo Clark is an accomplished, independent woman. Now she wants a partner to share her fabulous life.
Standing on the sidelines of her sister’s third baby shower with her thirtieth birthday around the corner, Indigo is feeling the pressure about one thing she hasn’t yet a healthy, long-term relationship. As owner of Houston’s hottest destination for luxury shoes and accessories, Indigo excels at finding clients the perfect shoe, but she's having a hard time finding a partner who is her perfect fit.
So she approaches her lackluster dating life the same way she does any challenge―with determination―and books her social calendar full of potential suitors. She needs a man who can handle her busy life, get along with her big and boisterous family, and mesh with her tight-knit friends, including Nate, her childhood bestie.
While one guy is great on paper, and another sets off sparks, neither are Mr. Right. And her drive to find him begins to interfere with the things and people she values most. Can Indigo let go of past hurts and unrealistic expectations and finally admit to herself that her perfect man has been in front of her the whole time?
The premise of the book sounded fun and interesting- 30 year old successful entrepreneur finally decides to date freely and widely. However, its clear very early on who the author wants to Indigo to end up with and it frankly stifled the book a bit. I also felt there was A LOT going on but none of it was particularly interesting. I didn't feel sparks between Indigo and any of her love interests either so it was hard to be invested in the story at all. I did not like the handling of the character dealing with alcoholism and I did not appreciate Abortion being thrown in sort of carelessly towards the end of the book. I did enjoy Indigo as a protagonist/person and feel that many 30 year olds, like myself could identify and relate to many of her desires such as Marraige, kids, etc. Overall, this was just ok.
Indigo deals with family expectations/judgments and some very real struggles that come with modern dating (men with "baggage" and players).
I've seen some complaints in others' reviews about how it was "obvious" who Indigo was meant to end up with which seams silly to me because that's one of the hallmarks of the romance genre. Is it the best book I've ever read? No but I had fun reading it.
My biggest complaint would be I felt that the "reveal" of why Indigo and her former boyfriend broke up was in poor taste. I don't think things that could be triggering should be used for shock value, though I did guess what it was. That's my personal preference.
TWs: abortion, cheating, alcoholism.
This is the author's debut novel and I would definitely check out her future stories. I love seeing how authors grow as they write!
I expected a nice chicklit but honestly it was kind of sloppy, one thing I hate in contemporary books is when the author tells and doesn't show. There was too much info dump and I couldn't really like the fmc very much. It was sweet but there was no chemistry in the romance and the plot kind of felt forced especially the fact that it was like all the men she dates are horrible? All of them? Just so that she can end up with her best friend who's been the one all alone?. All the characters were pretty messed up man I definitely didn't have a good time that I expected to have.

2 stars!
This is painful for me but I just really did not like this book. I did not feel like there was any chemistry between the two main characters and even though in my day I loved Wattpad this was just a little too Wattpady for me. I was increasingly frustrated by this book and it was entirely too long.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Cute and funny but I was also bored quite a lot. The narrative voices were all over the place which made it hard to focus. I loved the family dynamics though and the humor really held the story together.
Sadly this didn't do it for me. from the description I really thought I would relate to the lead and on paper I did, but I didn't feel like I connected enough with her to engage in her search and struggles.
Wow. I loved this book!! It’s had every thing I didn’t know I needed! I am hoping for a number two!!!
This was cute. I wish the mc would have gone on more dates with some people. I also felt like the relationship with Tate was good but could have used more depth. But overall I enjoyed my time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Brilliant balance of plot and character development, lovable characters, and that classic happy ending that you want from a contemporary romance.
Story of the book-
With her 30th birthday quickly approaching and her sister’s third baby shower underway, Indigo is feeling the pressure to accomplish something she hasn’t yet done: a stable, long-term relationship. Indigo is an expert at matching customers with the ideal shoe because she owns Houston’s hottest spot for high-end shoes and accessories, but she struggles to find a partner that fits her perfectly.
She, therefore, pursues her mediocre dating life with the same tenacity with which she handles any problem and fills her social calendar with possible partners. She wants a partner who can manage her hectic schedule, get along with her large, raucous family, and fit in with her close-knit group of friends, especially Nate, her childhood best friend. Both the one who looks wonderful on paper and the one who ignites passion is not Mr. Right. And while she searches for him, she starts to put the people and things she cherishes most in danger. Can Indigo finally come to terms with the fact that her ideal partner has always been in front of her by letting go of her unmet expectations and previous grievances?
My Review-
Samuel did a great job of pleasantly retelling an old story. Throughout the entire book, the author includes amusing, brave, honest, and spontaneous events. There will be moments when they bring you back to your own family’s true holiday fun. This was one of the few novels that made me chuckle, which is always a great win. I also loved Indigo as a character, thought the plot flowed nicely and thought it had a good pace. It was a short and enjoyable read. Indigo was a successful businesswoman and a smart individual. She drew up her career path based on her family’s achievements, which is motivational.
Additionally, it was perplexing when several persons were speaking in the same scenario. At times, the writing in these scenes seemed to go on forever, and many of the scenes—even the dates—felt like fluff. The primary narrative wasn’t compelling enough to tie everything together, but I also feel like the writing wasn’t my style. Every new chapter seemed jarring and disjointed as if the author had picked us up and dropped us down too abruptly to maintain the same tone or plot. Tate and Nathan, I would say, had the chemistry that I could see, but Diego didn’t since their relationship wasn’t developed and they didn’t spend enough time together.
Due to the complexity and connections between the characters and the plot, this novel was not quite binge-worthy. Love in general and lovable characters are what make this novel so fantastic. Nothing about this piece particularly struck me. The conclusion was obvious from the start. A few events that occurred after the novel were too coincidental and tied everything up too perfectly at the right time, which diminished part of my enjoyment of the reading experience. This was a brief, light romance book with no shocks and a strong, though slightly unlikeable, female heroine. This work was undoubtedly enjoyable for some readers, but regrettably not for me.
This book was excellent; apart from the fact that the FMC was really getting on my nerves, I really enjoyed this book. it was a 10/10. i love how things went the way I had expected them to go. The book told a beautiful story of a black woman trying to fall in love, a black successful woman, with many options to pick from. not the basic black woman finally falls in love plot that I see everyday

This book was a quick, light read! I love that the author was unapologetically herself in the sense that the writing is unique to her - referencing tiktok/music trends and whatnot. On the other hand anyone reading after the trend dies out will not see the humour in it.
It was obvious who Indigo would end up with and the breakups with all the other men were a bit forced / it was hypocritical that she’d have a whole team but be mad at one of them for two timing her. And it felt like the Chosen one was just picked because she had no options left.
I would recommend this book to romcom lovers, and fans of Bolu Babalola and Talia Hibbert.
