The story follows Thea, a young woman that after attending to a party at an art gallery, starts seeing things that she wasn't supposed to.... Eyes and skin with strange colours, wings, horns, strange cloths... At the beginning she thinks there's a comic con happening in town, but when she starts seeing them everywhere, she's forced to face what's happening to her. She's changing. And the Lord of Winter started it.

With the Winter's Solestice a few days ahead, Daven is responsible to start the process with the new changeling. But when two humans attend to his party, he kisses the wrong human.

The Fae are devided in 4 Courts located around a magical Gate. There's a changeling once a year. And there are the wild fae... The ones that refused to choose a Court.

There's a rumour of a war and The Rotting One. Someone ready to destroy all of them.

Really liked the plot, the details and the history around the Courts and the Changelings. Liked the twists and the story around The Rotting One.

However, I was expecting more development.
The relationship between the MCs was lacking something. It happened so quickly that I barely felt the tension between them.

There was a lot of "tell" instead of "show".

Some scenes should have been more developed, it would help to get us closer to the characters.
Other scenes had to much information.

It gets better at 52%.
The last 20% are really good!

Loved Daven's povs.

This is the first book of a series so I'm curious to see how she's going to develop the story as I can't see/think about a plot for a second book. Hope to see some character development on the next.

In general it was a good reading, original plot. Would recommend to fans of Faeries with a touch of mistery that want an easy reading.

If you don't mind about that something missing, then it's perfect.

3 Stars!

This book is a fae fantasy romance that is about a girl who is noticed by a fae court leader and her world is flipped upside down. This book had tremendous potential to me because I love fae romance books; however, this story fell short. It started off great and I liked how the characters were introduced, but once I hit the 60% mark it felt like the story was being rushed. I also wanted more romance and details about fae powers.

I received this book as an ARC and gave my opinion voluntarily.

“Be careful making deals with a fae, darling. I’ll be holding you to it”
“Should I take that as a challenge? I happen to have a hobby of convincing lovely historians to believe in fairy tales”
Fans of Sarah J Mass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, hear me out … READ THIS BOOK NOW !!
A urban fantasy with four fae courts (each season), with a tall, dark and snowy love interest, with mating bond, forced proximity, ONE BED trope with pillow wall, and an undeniable attraction that gets progressively hard to hide … this book was amazing !!!
I couldn’t put it down !!
I loved the world building, the magic, the romance, the spice (enough but not too much), the characters’ dynamics and even the concept of fae and changeling … something I don’t think I’ve read before!!
The fact that the book is a standalone, I think it’s a great idea.
But I have to say that I would love to read more books about some side characters that honestly caught my heart!!!
And the romance !!!!!! So good !!! Considering it all started with a mistake and an art gallery … do we believe in fate ???
I had great fun reading this book and I’m so grateful I even had the chance to experience it !!!
“Did you sleep well, bond mate?”
“I’m all yours to look at, you know”
“You need to let me go, darling, before we start something I intend to finish”
“For you, I’d do a lot of things that would shock the courts”

Thank you to Net Galley and Wattpad Books for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

A fun read! There were a few technical issues, such as paragraph formatting and a few grammatical errors, but for me it did not take away from the story. I enjoyed the idea of the Fae courts and the changeling process. There was some good action near the end and all the different elemental powers that came into play were fun to read about.

I always enjoy a 'he fell first' senario and I appreciated that Thea didn't just start fawning over him the moment the bond fell in place. The fact that she took some time to process made me like this book even more. I do wish there was more development between Thea and Devin, more romance and more intimacy.

Overall, a quick but enjoyable read!

Okay, I am quite impressed with this book. I originally picked it up because I half-thought it was going to be more a comedy than anything.

I absolutely devoured this book, I mean, there was no breaks it was just page after page of consumption and it felt so good!

If you like fantasy romance, if you like FAE. Run, don't walk, to your nearest website to pick up a copy of this book.

I will be recommending this to most everyone I come across!

This was a great urban fae story with new takes on familiar themes.

Each year the four courts of the fae must make a changeling. Their numbers are dwindling and they must maintain their population. Things don't go according to plan this year and Thea is accidentally changed after a chance encounter with a dark and handsome gallery owner. Will Thea accept the changes? What about the incredible pull she feels with Devin? And why are the fae numbers dwindling so much? Thea will change the fates, but will it be for better or worse?

I really enjoyed the dual perspectives of Devin and Thea. I felt like it added a lot to their character development and helped create a vivid story. Thea was sweet and had good head on her. I loved that we got her backstory and some of her history. I wish we would have gotten a little more of Devin - give me more morally grey! Make me question myself!!

I am unclear if this is a series or standalone, but there is definitely a conclusion. I'm not always looking for a series, so I'm glad this was a quick and easy read with a strong story. While marked as adult, this read more new adult to me. There was definitely some steam, but it was generally mild.

Dirty Lying Faeries was awesome!!! I loved this new spin about the Fae! I'm always looking for new writers and I came across this book on Netgalley and after seeing the cool cover and reading the blurb decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. Thea is a great character and her love of history and her personality pull you right in and the chemistry between her and the handsome Devin fae lord of the winter court is smouldering hot. From the beginning he is attracted to Thea and he mistakenly thinks she's the new changeling to be brought over to the fae court and on the night of Thea's crossover they find out that she is Devin's fated mate. Theirs some steam but on the light side, but what their is is good. Theirs a lot going on in this book with someone in the fae court killing and poisoning other fae and Thea and Devin and others are trying to find out who before theirs a war between fae and changelings. I loved all the different characters and even the villain was quite interesting. Sabrina Blackburry is a great storyteller and a pretty damn good writer as well. I can never get enough stories about the world of the fae. Until next time Luv's💞💋

Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the book. It was dark and sensual, just as the description promises. I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, modern take on Faeries and the Otherworld, where the courts are set in modern day Seattle
But I found it to start incredibly slow. It took me about 110 pages before I started caring about what was going on. I almost DNFed at that point, but it was then that the chapter ended on a cliffhanger that made me stop and go.... "Alright, hit me with what's happening."
From there, the book was fastpaced and pretty exciting! Once I started caring about what was going on, I literally couldn't put it down. I read it, even when my eyes were tired of looking at the screen, I finished reading the book while I was at work.
Then the ending felt... a little flat? and very abrupt. It was a complete and satisyfing ending, came upon me so fast I found myself thinking "Wait... that's it?"
The description of the book says that this is the first in a series, so I'll be interested to see where it goes, and I am very kind of excited to see it coming in the August '22 Fox & Wit Adult Box.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad books for this ARC.

There is a much prettier cover, but due to this being an e-ARC, my kindle didn’t load it. 😩

This gave me ACOTAR vibes but with a little bit hotter spice, quicker story line, and kind of a closer story line to what we might typically think of when we picture faeries.

Thea is a college graduate who follows her friend Candace (Candie) around to all sorts of events, including the gallery showing she won tickets to.

Thea by chance meets the gallery owner, Devin, who is extremely attractive for a gallery owner. But is that all he is?

Continue on the path of Thea, Devin, Candie, and an assortment of fae/humans on their journey through this book. I would definitely recommend this read.

Come hang out with Thea - she has believed she was human her entire life, but things are about to change for her in a big way! Thea is immersed in a magical world and has to figure out what is her truth among all of this?

Dirty Lying Faeries did not blow me away. I'll be honest and say I truly enjoyed the last 20% of the book most of all (who doesn't love a final battle scene?!). It seemed to all just be thrown at us so quickly from the get-go (underdeveloped) without any world building, and I've read a lot of fae romance novels, and the ideas/themes that came up within this piece did not feel original to me (fae courts named after the seasons....c'mon). I felt like I was reading a story I had already read many times before; with that being said, I'm curious to see where the story leaves as we are left with many questions. I was not a fan of the romance and I did not care for the characters (especially not our main characters).

I would recommend this to an under 30 reader who is fresh on the fantasy book scene. This is a fast paced book that you can get through easily, I think there are lots of young adults who could enjoy a book like this and I'm hopeful a copy finds its way to them.

This was a quick fantasy read involving the fae, the four seasonal courts, mating bonds, changelings, powers, etc. I always enjoy a story about the fae so thought it was okay but I feel like a lot of the ideas have been done before, aside from maybe the adult changeling aspect. The main characters were alright and I liked the dual POV but I was hoping for a bit more from the romance. I feel like this could have been better with more world building and explanation of the gates and such. It seemed like there were a lot of reveals all done at once but I was still left with questions at the end. Thank you to Wattpad Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

This was one of my favorite reads of the year! I am so glad to have received an ARC of this book.

I really enjoyed the growth the characters experienced on page and the way that they evolved along with the story. By the third page I was loving the author's use of banter between friends Candace and Thea. Ambient environmental descriptions were well done., they weren't over consuming, but it was enough that your mind could paint a vivid picture of the world as the characters moved through it. I felt that I could relate to the main character, Thea, throughout the entirety of the book, which is rare for me.

The author did an amazing job of holding tension throughout the story. I felt so absorbed in every moment of the story that I didn't want to put the book down. I feel like this type of writing style is getting really hard to come by. Sabrina Blackburry does an amazing job of blending humor and drama into this story. Each chapter sort of had a bit of a cliffhanger that just kept you saying "one more chapter" every single time.

I went into this expecting a fun fairy romp and was left feeling disappointed. It got 2 stars for the plot the author did actually try to include, but the characters and the writing definitely felt like they lacked depth and unfortunately it wasn't for me.

3.75⭐️ The story in this was really great, and had me reading quickly. It was a somewhat unique take on the fae from anything I’ve read so far (admittedly not that much). I loved the court system and the wild fae. I especially loved the final battle scene, as it was very exciting! I do, however, feel like a lot of the relationship building and character building was kind of glossed over, not enough to prevent me from feeling invested in most of the characters, but I would’ve liked more. And some of the background and history was a bit confusing, but I was able to piece it all together and have it make sense by the end. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, and I will absolutely be reading book 2!

Dirty Lying Fairies, by Sabrina Blackburry, was an spellbinding urban fantasy. It has everything you want in a fantasy story, but leaned more towards humor and romance. The way Sabrina introduces humans to the fae world, is completely unique and adds a great mystery aspect to the story. I seriously didn't want to put my kindle down, I needed to know what happened.

I'm not sure if Dirty Lying Fairies is a standalone or going to be part of a series, but I really hope that Sabrina decides to turn this into a series. There are a few questions she left unanswered, and I would really love to hear more about the love stories.

Definitely one for the personal library.

Dirty Lying Faeries is a contemporary fantasy romance. Thea discovers that sexy gallery owner has started the process by which she becomes a changeling. And at the winter solstice, her change will be complete and she’ll need to join one of the four courts, each aligned with a season.

The story is told in first person dual POV with Thea and Devin, the Winter Lord, gallery owner, and instigator of Thea’s change. There’s some nice tension between them and the attraction felt real.

Changelings, fae, and courts aligned with seasons aren’t new ideas but I enjoyed the twist of changelings being created as adults. I wish there’d been more about their magic, affinities, and the gates. I was curious why the fae didn’t interact with fae in other parts of the country/world.

This gives you:

Contemporary fantasy romance with a bit of mystery
Sexy fae lord
Magical transformations
Court intrigue
Dual POV
Secret destiny
Chosen one
Fae masquerading in the human world
Soul mate bond
One bed
Magical battle

Perfect magical staycation poolside frothy reading.

This is my first book by Sabrina Blackburry. I absolutely loved this cover so I thought I might enjoy the book. Man was I surprised by how much I truly enjoyed this story. It is so fantastical and wondrous and an all around joy to read.

This story follows Thea who has just graduated college and wants more than anything to work in a museum and put her education to work. She is taken to an art exit by her best friend Candace. She finds the museum strange and the art even stranger. The meets the owner, Devlin and feels this strange connection to him. What follows is a whirlwind romance, strange beings and a mystery that pull you into the story where you never want to leave.

I loved this version of the Fae Courts. There are 4 courts that take after the seasons. Each Fae has different abilities and they all range in differs power level and strength. What was different in this story was the introduction of changelings and how they are turned into Fae and the reasons behind it. I found this to be very original and fun to read. The Characters were fun and the story very well written. I look forward to reading more books within this series and from this Author. I give this book 5 stars.

This book is full of great ideas and lovely characters. But I just couldn’t get behind the steamy scene or the relationship builds.
Thea is a lovely character that is very relatable and Devin is dreamy! He is tall, dark and handsome with a possessive streak and centuries of patience. I loved how Sabrina wrote him. But the one visible spicy scene should have been a fade to black. I believe most of my rating comes from the awkwardness of that scene and how suddenly their relationship started, when it was set out to be a slow burn.
The ideas behind the gates and fae were fantastic, but I did wish there was more about the history behind the gates, as the information that was dropped was so enticing!
Overall, this was a very quick and enjoyable read!
