OKay, thank you Erin for literally helping me doodle at work. I will be forever grateful for when I'm stuck in meetings but also feel like making a masterpiece. I can barely draw a straight line but I loved doing this.

I cannot draw to save my life... or so I have been made to think. I can do Picasso-like stuff but a self portrait, bowl of realistic looking fruit etc...yeah..no.

But, art is all about interpretation (and imho, a pair of balls to sound convincing enough that you believe in your creation *lol*)

This gave me some hope..but I did feel a little overwhelmed when the page said to draw the Big Ben. Erm...

Will come back to it during the break... wish there were a few more calligraphy pages.

I received a gifted advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

15-Minute Drawing: Getting Started, is a great starting guide book for anyone to use to start learning how to sketch and draw. The beginning of the book gives advice on tools to use such as pencils, pens, rulers etc and then goes on to show how to shade. I liked that every project has a page next to it that you can have a go at the illustration yourself using the page opposite as a guide. There are step by step instructions on what to do, but these I felt let the book down as they weren't as detailed as I'd hoped they'd be.
I enjoyed the pages on lettering and really wish I had a physical copy of this book to have a go at.
This is a useful book to learn how to sketch animals, buildings, flowers and much more.

This is a really inspiring and practical guide to drawing common items. It breaks down the drawings into simple steps, with space to practice new skills.

I have very little experience drawing. I was drawn to this book with its promise in the title: quick drawings and help getting started. The title was completely accurate. Each drawing is quick and easy to follow. I loved seeing how compositions were sketched out before detail was added, helping me see how an artist can check their balance before fleshing out a drawing. I spent a few afternoons jumping between the different sections of the books, trying out drawing landscapes, floral bouquets, skylines, practicing my hand lettering, border doodles, and more. Overall a great guide to breaking down ideas for drawings and getting started.

Ideal for people who want to make elaborate bullet journal layouts! The practice space is kind of ludicriously inadequate - it would have been better used for more instruction, any serious student will be working on this separately. Reasonably good introduction although nobody is going to really "learn to draw" from this without boatloads of practice, of course. I appreciated the inclusion of architectural drawings - most things like this are all decorative elements and flowers, sometimes animals.

This is an excellent, if short, introduction to drawing for beginners, amongst whom I count myself. Some years ago, I studied art at school (if I say it was O level, that should give some idea of how long ago it was!), I enjoyed the subject and could draw to a reasonable standard, but I didn't continue with it. My drawings now look more like those of a ten year old. Or they did, until I found this book. There are some techniques here which came back to me as I was reading, but a lot of this is new to me (well, either that or my memory is failing!). After reading and following the techniques, I was reasonably pleased with the outcome and can absolutely see a massive progression from a month or so ago. If you are new to drawing, this is a brilliant place to start, and I would highly recommend it.

This book is wonderful! As someone who has very little drawing skills, this book has step by step directions including illustrations on how to draw. In addition, the book discusses the differences between the different types of materials such as markers, pencils, etc. which I found to be very informative. I highly recommend this book. I’ve got my pad and pencils out, ready to go! Thank you NetGalley and Quarto-Walter Publishing for the opportunity to receive an ARC in exchange for my opinion,

I really like this book and have tried a few techniques already. Clear instructions that even a novice like me can follow. Diagrams included are great.

From flowers to buildings, everyday items and more, 15-Minute Drawing : Getting Started is exactly what the title suggests. I was keen to review this book as I remember aged about 12, sitting and drawing the farmhouse we were staying in on holiday. I remember how much I enjoyed drawing as a hobby when I was younger but have barely picked up my pencils to draw in adulthood. I sat and did the ‘draw your dream house’ exercise and loved it. It was great to get back into drawing for pleasure, no pressure. I look forward to working through more of the exercises in this book.

What a great drawing book! It touches on a bit of everything- animals, landscapes, buildings, hand lettering, borders, and more! If you are interested in trying some drawing exercises and you have some basic drawing experience, this is for you.

15 Minute Drawing is chock full of fun prompts that are beginner-friendly. It is a little light in some of the details, like perspective and how to get from basic shape to adding detail. The accompanying pictures are helpful, but they are a little on the small side if you are needed the minute details. 15-minute drawing also includes a simple hand lettering exercise, which was unexpected. It does focus on pencil drawing with little color, which may be a letdown since markers and colored pencils are mentioned in the beginner. Still, I like the artist's style is fresh, and the subjects are plentiful

This is a helpful drawing book! It shows from early sketches to a full drawing. While it may take beginners more than 15 minutes, there are some helpful instructions and tips in this book. It also talks about the kind of materials you use in sketching. I would have liked a bit more instructions throughout the book, but it's definitely a thorough guide to creating a sketch from start to finish.

Finally a drawing book that doesn't focus too much on flowers! I loved the architectural and furniture instructional and found it so inspiring. This book includes blank portions to practice on. A lovely gift to treat yourself or a friend. Perfect for beginners as well as for artists who want to sketch for other art mediums.

This book does exactly what it says - packs drawing lessons into short, easy to follow tutorials. Each drawing is pretty simple but teaches you techniques to take with you into more detailed art. I recommend this to any beginner artists or someone who wants to learn a bit about lettering.

3.5
I was interested in this book by the title. 15-minute Drawing! Everything I've learned from art school, grade school through college has been practice, practice & practice some more. This book didn't change my mind.

I'd say this book's strength is the wide range of topics it covers: architecture, animals, flowers, lettering, layouts, buildings, and everyday items. I can see it appealing to someone who's interested in dipping their toes into art but doesn't know where to start. I'd say this would be a good book for teens or adults. I love that the artist teaches with shapes.

I noticed some of these illustrations are too difficult for a beginner and I can see children getting frustrated quickly. 15-minute drawing, like the title suggests, especially for a beginner, is unrealistic. Take your time with each section. Have fun!

What I found shocking is this book is designed to be used as an artist's notebook. Paper is important! If this was designed for a beginner artist, it would be a big problem. For example, repeated erasing will cause a hole in the paper or the Tombow markers and ink will bleed through. And there is inadequate space to draw. I would recommend practicing outside the book for 15 minutes a day in a sketch book.

I wouldn't recommend this for a younger child either. Though the artist did a great job reviewing good, inexpensive tools to use, they didn't use them throughout the book for lining and coloring. They look digitally colored to me, too perfect. I can see a child getting upset that their tools can't reproduce similar drawings.

Thank you, NetGalley & Quarto Publishing Group, for providing me with a digital ARC, for an honest review.

A great learn to draw book for beginners. Examples are well explained and shown to the reader. If you're the least bit hesitant about taking your art to drawing, this book will be a huge help and will show you so many items to learn to draw. Highly recommend this book!

This is a comprehensive book which gives good solid advice and informative about drawing a range of items.

I enjoyed the layout, explanations and the step by step instructions. The pictures are inspiring and very visually pleasing.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

This drawing book covered a lot of ground, such as layouts, lettering, florals, architecture, and more. That is the book's strength and I can see it appealing to someone who's interested in lessons that cover a broad range of subjects. The drawing space provided in the book would be totally inadequate for someone actually trying to learn to draw. I think it would have been better to leave those spaces out and include different lessons with the understanding that anyone reading the book would have their own drawing paper. Some of the illustrations are very technical and I question whether it could be accomplished in 15-minutes like the title suggests, especially for a beginner.

Gives you exactly what the title promises 15 minute drawing exercises to get you started.
As the artist/ author says all it takes is practice. I love how comprehensive this book is and it can be used by anyone, with any level of experience.

Aside from drawing there is a quick venture into lettering as well, I don’t care much about it, but it’s a nice addition.
