The art in Yasmin is adorable and my kids absolutely love the stories! They're all cute and pull the kids in! The chapters and sentences are short and very easy for the kids to keep interesting in and entertained.

First thank you net galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC. I have never heard of the series. I enjoyed reading this book. I think it's great for kids to learn about diversity but also provide self-esteem. Allowing children to investigate the world around them. To seek and to find. As someone who worked with Early childhood for many many years, this would have been a great staple in my classroom. The schools I worked at we're always on the lookout for books that had diversity characters. The illustrations are beautiful and the colors pop. I think it's a great example the close connection that Yasmin has with her family. I plan on putting it on my list to read a few more of the books from the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

I adore the Yasmin book series. Great beginner chapter books that are interesting to read and very well illustrated. I definitely appreciate the glossary at the end so children can learn words in Urdu. Most importantly - representation matters. As teacher with over 50% of my students whose first language is Urdu these books are a must-have in my classroom library.

Another great Yasmin book. This time Yasmin sets out to find out who has been stealing her Nani's things. My student's will love this just as much as they did all the other Yasmin books.

I adored this! Yasmin is a little girl from Pakistan who one day, hops onto a case hoping to find her Nani's lost things. Things get interesting as she soon learns about crows, who love to collect shiny objects. I loved how the Pakistani culture was implemented and the little information about the country and Urdu in the back. Definitely would recommend buying for a kid!

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Both me and my daughter were very happy to receive the latest adventure of the beloved Yasmin. When things started disappearing from their house, first a thimble, then a big button, and her grandma's glasses, Detective Yasmin took charge. We also enjoyed reading the fun facts of Pakistan and the glossary list at the end of the book.

This is the 20th book in the Yasmin series by Saadia Faruqi and while I haven't reviewed any since the first Meet Yasmin book, and I haven't read them all, it is really remarkable- a little Pakistani girl getting not one or two standalone early readers about her, but 20! And it seems she has grown up a bit along the way, taking charge, and solving mysteries.
I love that Yasmin's spunkiness is not obnoxious, and that she shows problem solving skills that can be imitated by young readers. Complete with a glossary of Urdu words, facts about Pakistan, and a binocular craft, Hatem Aly's adorable illustrations, and a fun short story, I truly hope little Yasmin keeps dazzling readers and giving brown girls, and curiosity a space to shine.

I am a big fan of the Yasmin books in the series for my classroom. I am so glad to say that this was on par with the rest of the series. Yasmin is an ordinary Pakistani-American girl who has fun adventures. This had a great introduction to mysteries for children. I love how this series reads like a leveled reader, complete with questions at the end for readers to think deeper about the text. A great addition to the series and a fantastic way to promote diversity in a child's library.

A copy was given by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Yasmin is a dynamic and charming, young Pakistani-American girl. Already proven to be a creative problem solver throughout the series, she puts those skills to use when some of her grandmother's things go missing. The story is simple yet engaging and offers an Urdu-English dictionary at the end for readers who are unfamiliar with the language. I am a big fan of the Yasmin series as a whole, and this newest addition does not disappoint. Overall, this is a perfect option for the first chapter book/independent reader audience.

A fun, friendly story of Pakistani-American girl, Yasmin. She helps grandma using her newly acquired knowledge of birds and her keen detective skills learned from her favorite tv show.

I absolutely loved this story and I adored the illustrations. I enjoyed this books message of encouraging curiosity, learning and helping family. It really is a well balanced booked that uses simple language to talk about these important topics.

Lastly, the additional lessons in the last few pages were appropriate and a qualitative addition to the story.

Cute! The illustrations are bright and eye catching. It's written in a basic language while including essential information related to the plot. They will increase the reader's knowledge and give them great joy. I admire that Yasmin's Pakistani heritage was brought up because representation matters, very very much. I can imagine young Pakistani American girls seeing themselves and their life styles being reflected in the book and gaining confidence from that. This book is part of a series which I wasn't aware of. I will try to check them out as well. Good one!

Yasmin the Detective, is in the Yasmin series by Saadia Faruqi. Yasmin is a Pakistani American girl in second grade. Her books are engaging and interesting. These books are perfect for kids in first through third grade.
In this book, Yasmin has to work to figure out what is happening to her Nani’s things that are disappearing.
As a mom and teacher, I really enjoy these books. I use them with my third graders who are below reading level. The stories are engaging and appropriate. The series is great! I want to thank the author, publisher, and Netgalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Such a cute book with beautiful illustrations. Yasmin solves the mystery of the missing items that her family can't find. I think any child will enjoy reading this one! I found out afterward that it is part of a series. I think it'll be fun to go back and read the other books leading up to this one.

Yasmin the detective is my first read from Yasmin series and i would love to read more from this series. The illustration was absolutely cute, perfect and beautiful. Though the story was short but i enjoyed the mystery case. And most importantly I loved Yasmin's character how she is concerned and curious at the same time while finding Nani's missing objects.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this lovely e-ARC.

Another exciting book in the Yasmin series. My Media Center houses many of Yasmin's books and this will be another popular addition to our collection. The plot is a fun one--objects of her Nani's are disappearing and Yasmin is determined to be the detective to find them.
The illustrations are vivid and inviting and I especially like the pages at the end. There are additional projects to enhance the story. Yasmin is of Pakistani heritage and my young readers will be able to learn more about that heritage. A delightful read!

This book is part of a larger series all featuring the main character, Yasmin. This book features Yasmin becoming a detective, while some of the other books show Yasmin as a doctor, scientist or singer. Yasmin is a young girl, I would guess around age 6 who is proud of her Pakistani culture. She is a great role model for young children and books like this one are the perfect opportunity for more children to see themselves in the books they are reading. The author Saadia Faruqi is a Pakistani American which is another great positive.

This book is an early chapter book with 3 chapters, each about 5 pages long and includes full and part page pictures that are detailed and in full colour. The font is accessible and there are 20-60 words per page, depending on whether or not there is a picture on the page. Many of the words are decodable or sight words at the grade 1-3 level. At the end of the book there are reading comprehension/discussion questions which are perfect for parents unsure how to support early readers. There is a glossary of Urdu terms, as well as information about Pakistan and an activity or recipe (in this book it is how to make toilet roll binoculars. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in Grade 1-4 which the target audience likely grade 2s. Children at this age are excited about early chapter books, but still need support such as pictures and decodable text in order to be successful in reading. In my opinion, this book definitely fits in that category! Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this awesome book!
