I often wish I had a guidebook on how to manage finances when I was younger. Although I'm much older now this is a great tool for anyone to use. The most important notion being how to set up a budget. I will put this into the hands of teens in the library to set them up early on, to help them understand way before I did.
"This book is jammed packed with such useful information. Even as an adult, I listened to this book with a notepad and pen. I have pages full of notes! I learned so much and I am already enacting some of what I learned. I love the idea of getting this information into the hands of teens. It walks them through how to get a job and then how to handle the money they make. I wish I had this book when I was in high school. I wouldn't have made nearly as many money mistakes as I have in my life.
The illustrative aspect of the book is fantastic. The breakout sections, charts, and imagery add so much to the book. It makes a topic that is important but a bit dry (especially for teens) much more readable.
The audiobook was fantastic. I was worried that because it was a visual guide, some information would be lost, but they did a great job altering the text to make you feel as if you were missing anything. At times I was following along in the book and saw the slight changes that they made to make the audio just as interesting as the visual images. Despite how good the audio was it is worth a look at the physical book. "
Not my thing.
I’ve tried dozens of books like this and they all just feel the same. I feel like I can’t accomplish them because of my mental illnesses. My life doesn’t work that way and even when I’m healthy it doesn’t work that way.
This audiobook was wonderful, although I imagine the book version is so much better with all of the fun illustrations! I felt like I was reading a modern version of one of those old American girl how-to books and I loved it! Much more detail. Great info on starting a business and how to put your allowance to good use!!
