Thanks for the review edition.
I am a huge fan of the pout-pout book series and this one was a joy as well. I have started getting these books as audios for my daughter!
We are HUGE Pout Pout fish fans in this household! So when this book was released we obviously were eager to check this one out too!
The Pout Pout fish never disappoints. Easy to read, cute illustrations and wonderful message to share with your Littles. This book focuses on our emotions and it presents it in a way that is easily understood.
As always, thanks to the publisher and netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I will always read any new stories apart of the Pout Pout series. This one wasn't my favorite, but definitely a wonderful message.
We are big fans of The Pout-Pout fish in our house. This one was no exception. We enjoyed the colorful pages, the rhyme and the moral of the story. It's great to see kids' books that talk about dealing with worry/anxiety and how to get through it.
Pout-Pout Fish does it again! He goes on an adventure and learns lessons along the way. This book is great to read to my toddler. I specifically love the rhyming and the cadence of these books. Very excited to get this in board book form!
My son loves the pout pout fish! He’s always asking for “pou pou” book! We love this series and will have to add this one to our shelf!
First off, thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own.
My kiddos loved this audiobook! Ages are 7, 5, 4 & 2. We typically listen to audios in the car instead of music and this story was well loved. Highly recommend for kiddos.
What an awesome book! As the mother of a child who worries too much, this book was extremely relevant. It had a fantastic message without being too over the top. My daughter loved it!
This is such a cute story! It educates kids on the importance of addressing their worries and anxieties. Teaches a good lesson about being empathetic to those around us who have those issues and how to help. The sound effects were appropriate and perfectly timed. Such a relatable story for an adult, not wanting to go to a party! It kept my toddlers attention and he asked to listen to it over and over, the magic of the pout-pout fish books. The narration was awesome, the narrator did a great job distinguishing the different characters and being dramatic for the dramatic plot. I love the lesson of recognizing problems, especially emotional problems, and how to fix them. Yes its a kids book, but it teaches a lesson that most adults could still learn something from.
Audiobook received for free through NetGalley
Love it and we ended up listening to it twice back to back while my kids ate. In the words of them:
My 7 year old: I think it’s epic because I like how they teach us what to do if we have a worry. It’s awesome.
My 6 year old: it’s my most favorite audiobook. I even love it so much and it’s even the right amount of long.
I love love this book. I highly recommend for teachers and children. It is a wonderful story for children to understand about emotions.
I listened to this with my daughters and we thought it was very cute. It is perfect for anyone who is a worrier and has anxiety.
Thanks Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
This was exactly what my kids and I needed to hear! A precious tale of worries with a succinct and clear plan for how to manage them. The advice is helpful for all ages and I’m not joking when I say I’ll be repeating Mr.Fish’s advice to myself (and my kids) over and over again!
Books for kids about feelings can be tricky. I find that many of them focus so much on the negative aspects of the feeling, waiting until the last possible second to offer a resolution that the child listener ends up missing the tips on managing the feeling and instead are introduced to new reasons to be angry, sad, jealous, etc. Additionally, many of these books illustrate the character working through the feeling in destructive ways first, giving my kids lots of new ideas of how NOT to handle things.
The Pout Pout Fish and the Worry Worry Whale perfectly balances identifying the emotion (worry) and examples of things to worry about with a very simple and clear plan of action to combat the worries. In a sweet and empathetic way, Mr. Fish reminds his friend the whale (and the reader) that worry tells us stories that are not always true. He shows us how making a simple plan can give us the tools we need to feel in control of our environment and lessen the worry. So simple, so accurate, and so relatable.
My kids and I listened to the audiobook and I was a bit worried that without adorable pictures they wouldn’t be as engaged in the story, but I was wrong. Not only is the story itself engaging, but the narrator has excellent pacing and entertaining voices. Additionally, the audiobook includes adorable under the sea themed music and bubble sound effects that transport the listener to the Pout Pout Fish’s world. Really charming and delightful.
I was lucky to receive this audiobook as an advance listen to review from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. I will definitely add this to our personal library as it is an excellent tool for managing worries for listeners and readers of any age.
Thank you, Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this advance copy!
I love Pout Pout Fish so much! This one lives up to the rest of the beloved series.
My 3 and 6 year olds listened to this before bedtime to help wind down before going to sleep and wanted to listen to it over and over again. They really liked the way the narrator read the story and enjoyed the storyline. This would definitely be a great book for a child that is worried about an event or something in their life that is bothering them. Highly recommend.
A BIG thank you to NetGalley & The Bluestocking Bookshop for the opportunity to enjoy this book before the release date! I was super lucky to enjoy this as an audio book - and I was absolutely delighted with the narrator, the music, and the sound effects; each detail really helped to bring the story to life. In this book we meet a lovely little whale, Willa Whale, who is filled with worry. With the help and advice of her friend, Mr.Fish, she’s able to successfully face her worries a little at a time and finds herself enjoying a wonderful party with her friends. This is a fantastic resource to start a discussion with kids about feeling worried and how to successfully deal with overwhelming situations.

I listened to this with my son (a worrier) and we both loved it! Sends a great message to the kiddos about dealing with everyday worries. Also, my son loved the use of the sea creatures, will definitely look into this book and the authors work to add to my collection of children's books.
I love the Pout Pout books. I think they all have a good message for kiddos. The support of good friends can always help when you're worried or scared about something 😁
Our younger kids enjoyed listening to this story.
I enjoyed the bubble sounds throughout the story giving it the underwater effect.
This is s good story to teach children about worrying. Not only does the story follow the Worry Whale, but it gives tips on how to manage it.
Thank you MacMillan Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this story.
I was given an early copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I loved the book. It gave a tip on how to handle worrie... we all have the. Story begins with Mr Fish coming out of hid house carrying a gift.. hr and Miss Whale have been invited to a party. But now that Worry Worry whale has thought about it, she has all the what if’s ruining through her head. Mr Fiish said when I feel that way, I take a big breath and then think of a small piece about it that I can handle then focus on that and I can do it, I will do it. Fish and Whale went to the party and were having a good time until it was announced that sing along was next. Whale looked tomMrFish and said I can’t even carry a noe. She decided she would stay and try one note but if it was terrible she would just leave. The time came she sang her note and everyone followed along.. she had so much fun she couldn’t wait to do it again. What an ingenious way to work in a life skill without sounding teachy about it. I think kids will pick up the lesson and it will become second nature to them when. They get anxious or nervous doing something ne. Yes., I will enthusiastically be recommending for the youngsters to rea or listen to. Special thanks to #NetGalley, # McMilllanAudio,#DebraDiesen, and #Pout-Pout FishandWorry-WorryWhale for letting me review early.
