See You Someday Soon is a short children’s audiobook about a child imagining ways to see their grandma who lives far away. As an audiobook, you miss out on the pictures that go with the story, and I suspect this would make a better physical book than audiobook. The first half of the story was just OK, but the second half was more entertaining as the child used their imagination. I would recommend this book in paper format.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.
This is a book with a very sweet message.
This is a lovely book that helps explain the longing to be together when we are far apart. A grandmother and child express how they would like to visit each other and how they might travel to make it happen. Some readers might connect this to missing a loved one in heaven, although I think that is a stretch.
There are sample images on the Amazon post which show how charming the hardback book is. Listening to the exchange is nice but I think that the print book might be better for this book. I enjoyed the easy prose and know that my grandchildren would enjoy this book. I recommend this book to share with children.
Audio Notes: Katharine Chin does a nice job with the reading. The narration conveys the longing of the separated people. I enjoyed the very quick listening experience.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* pretty cute kids book, i think there are more of these distance type books since covid but i think they are useful for so much more than quarantine lol
This was a cute, heartwarming book that follows a little girl as she tries to find ways to stay in contact with her grandmother. It made me miss talking to grandma who passed away a few years ago.
I really liked that there was background music playing while it was being narrated. Katharine Chin did an excellent job.
This story was beautiful. My husband's family is in Idaho and we live in Kansas and this book put into words perfectly how it feels for family to be separated by distance. It was sweet. The narrator had a lovely voice and all in all, it was a great listen.
My children and I listened to the audiobook version of this and really enjoyed it. While the idea seems to be more about a grandparent who does not live close by, I can see how it can deliver an encouraging and comforting message to someone grieving as well. It does have a whimsical and creative nature that is conveyed well in the narration as well. I would certainly gift this book when the occasion calls for it! #seeyousomedaysoon #netgalley
Living several hours away from my family, who my kids and I are close to, made this book one that caught my eye. I listened with my 6 & 8 year old and the 6-year-old has requested this every time we go in the car. Surprisingly he even requested this as his "pump up choice" before his last soccer game. I think he likes the soothing voice and the story relating to people he loves living far away.
He wants to send a letter to his grandparents now to say, see you someday soon.
The book, as alluded above, is about a child who cannot see his family due to jobs and cost and schedules. They want to visit their family and friends so they talk about ways to connect from afar. Their favorite phrase to exchange is "See you Someday Soon". It feels like it could have been a book written about covid times but it is not related to that at all. It simply is for kids and loved ones separated by the miles.
I recommend this one to anyone who has loved ones they don't get to see as often as they like due to distance, money or schedules.
This was a very discreet way of talking about those far from us even if it means in an upsetting way such as gone. Very sweet story with lines that are sure to make you smile through your tears and have you thinking about someone you know and hope to see someday soon. 🥺
I listened to this with my five year old who said “I really love all the sounds but I would not want to be flattened like a pancake. Yuck.”
Overall, she enjoyed this one and it was a cute little story that I can see being extra fun when you can match pictures to it!

This book addresses ways we can stay connected to our loved ones, regardless of the distance that separates us physically. This children's book uses simple language, to tell a story in a corky but entertaining way. This book will be great for young children. And a good gift idea for a grandparent that's separated by distance or parent that travels for work.
The narration was lovely. I have mixed feelings regarding the sound effects. They were tugging me to dreamland.
A bittersweet children's book with simple language about being apart. It seems inspired by early pandemic days, but is applicable to any loved ones who are currently separated. I like the focus on ways to connect despite the distance. This will be a great book for young children. I enjoyed the narration by Katharine Chin and sound effects.
Thank you Macmillan Audio for providing this audiobook ARC.
