Amelia is a famous superstar better known as Rae Rose, who is escaping from her manager just before a huge tour to focus on her mental health. Overworked and no longer in love with music, she follows her idol Audrey Hepburn's path in Roman Holiday and takes a break in the closest Rome to her, Rome, Kentucky. When she is nearly at her destination, her car breaks down and right in the middle of Noah Walker's front yard. They are both reluctant to start relationships, Amelia because she finds dating a celebrity difficult and Noah because of a previous bad experience. When they realize they are attracted to each other, they try to go out of their way to avoid admitting until they give in and decide to try to work it out. Cast in a town with meddlesome neighbors and family who seem to know what's best for Noah, they also set out to ensure that Amelia and Noah end up together. In the end, they work past their insecurities and decide to have a relationship despite all the obstacles. Overall, it was a charming read.
When in Rome, but instead of Italy, think Rome, Kentucky, a tiny town with a wide cast of characters. Amelia just wants a break from her life being in the public eye, going on tours, and all the drama that comes with fame. So she spontaneously decides to run from her life and stumbles right into Noah, a pie shop owner who begrudgingly offers her a place to stay when her car breaks down in his yard. These two completely different personalities are both dealing with their own baggage and finding company together under one roof...how could you not fall in love under those circumstances? Will they get together? What does the future look like for them beyond her short stay in Rome, Kentucky? If you're looking for a cute quintessential romance, read this is it.

When in Rome by Sarah Adams
4/5 ⭐️
When in Rome is basically if you took the Hannah Montana movie and made Miley burnt out and switched Travis to a grumpy pie bakery owner with trust issues. And I LOVED the Hannah Montana movie so…
This book follows Amelia Rae, also known as Rae Rose (and yes it’s giving Miley Ray), an overworked pop star who just wants a break. Her car breaks down in Rome, Kentucky in front of the home of Noah Walker, a handsome but grumpy, small town business owner who doesn’t believe in wifi.
What I loved about Amelia is that she shows how even people who seem happy and have a ton of friends can be one of the loneliest people. Her personality is so likable that you’d want to be her friend IRL.
Noah Walker is the epitome of I hate everyone but you. He wants to seem all tough, but he leaves his car unlocked in case someone needs it. He’s always there for his sisters and the elderly.
They both have really good chemistry, funny banter. and a case of I want you but I can’t have you. Amelia has to go back to the real world and Noah can’t leave the only home he’s ever known. But is home a place or a person???
Overall, this book was a fun and sweet read. It gave me Lovelight Farms vibes. Thank you to @netgalley and @randomhousepublishing for this arc in exchange for an honest review. When in Rome has been out for a while now because I’m horrible and very late with all my arcs!!
This books is a perfect homey small town read. It has the gossip, drama, fame, and love all wrapped into a sweet story. I would say this is a quick read and something to pick you up if you are in need of a light read.
The two characters meet accidentally and Amelia Rose (a VERY famous popstar) just wants a break from her new reality. She takes off and decides not to tell anyone where she is going. When things go all sorts of wrong, she ends up in a place she does not expect at all. In this far from perfect scenario Amelia meets the "angry/misunderstood" Noah Walker. He has got a past and acts so mysterious that Amelia cannot figure him. out.
The books got a fun story, an undeniable lover connection, and two very different character dynamics.
I love how Sarah Adams just writes the coziest settings and heartwarming characters. This is the perfect cold and rainy day read. Amelia and Noah are so endearing in their own ways and their interactions together have you turning the pages to get more of their stories. If you want a fun and easy read but don’t need spice to enjoy your romance - pick this one up!
Sarah Adams did it again - another adorable and sweet romcom! When in Rome is an amusing, quick, light read that you won't want to put down. She includes the perfect combination of a couple you can't help to root for, hilarious moments, and a slow burn.
I really did enjoy this book.
I was initially worried because the first third was real touch and go. It seemed cute, but then the characters would just act crazy.
If you want no spoilers at all, stop reading.
I thought the first kiss was WAY too soon. It was not earned. I didn’t even feel the tension before it. It felt very abrupt and weird. I thought, “Oh cool. I’m not going to like this book.”
That being said, it turned around.
I grew to love Noah’s sisters. Love. I can’t wait for their stories. Honestly, I liked them more than the main characters.
I thought this book was cute and fun. To be honest, I felt like it resembled In the Weeds, so maybe that’s what took away from my experience. I read that one first.
This is a 3.5-4 star for me. Cute but probably forgettable.
Thank you to @netgalley for a free copy in exchange for a review!
small town romance which is way different than sarah adams's book called the cheat sheet. this is one of my favorite trope: grumpy country boy x sunshine city girl in terms of small town romance. Gosh this is literally my favorite trope! This is the sweet type of romance where your heart feels full and I absolutely love the love between Amelia and Noah!
This was a super cute read! It was a little hard for me to get into at first but it definitely picked up as the story went on. I loved the small town setting and vibe; it really reminded me of Gilmore Girls. The dynamic between Amelia and Noah was amazing, and their little scenes with banter/tension was definitely drew me in and had me continue reading.
This was a charming contemporary romance about a pop star looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of her life and ends up falling for a small town baker. If you like that type of trope, then you will like this novel.
Most of the characters are generally likeable except for a select few that you will grow to dislike. Amelia was a favorite of mine, but I thought she was just trying too hard to win over Noah. This novel is heavy on the cheese and very predictable (insert eye roll). The two main characters are so incredibly different that I could never actually see a future for them, even towards the end.
There's not a lot of spice in this romance, so if that's what you like, then you will be disappointed. If you like Audrey Hepburn and Roman Holiday, then you will really enjoy this novel. While I was not blown away, I won't completely dismiss this author in the future. It's good, just not great.
Special thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I’ll be honest—this wasn’t exactly the most memorable romance for me but it was a super sweet, wholesome, quick read with minimal angst and fit the mood that I was in at the time. Rae Rose, as she’s known to the public, is a famous pop star and right before she’s about to embark on a major tour, she takes off for Rome, Kentucky (inspired by Roman Holiday, her favorite Audrey Hepburn movie) so she can take a minute to be breathe and be herself, just Amelia. Her car breaks down on Noah Walker’s front lawn and naturally this handsome, slightly grumpy, stranger offers her his guest bedroom until her car is fixed and she accepts. Everything in the book is really surface level (little is said of her music for instance) and moves at breakneck speed (insta-love, the whole kooky town of Rome rooting for them, and the resolution of any conflict). But there is a sweetness to the simple way this story is executed so if you’re in the mood for something quick and fun, this would be a good option to borrow from the library.

I swooned so hard I am puddin' ya'll! Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
This is my comfort read. It has all the elements of comfort and cozy I've ever wanted. It's like indulging in my ultimate comfort food, pajamas, movie, music, people, and vibe in the same night and it made me so gosh darn HAPPY!!!!! It's wholesome, its funny, it's sweet and homey and cozy and yummy and I literally loved every page of this book 🥺 And my face actually hurts from smiling!

I really loved this Rom Com and Sarah Adams is quickly becoming my favorite author for low spice wholesome romance books. I was a little iffy about this book when I found out it was about a singer because i normally don't like those but this book really surprised me! I highly recommend if you like small town and baking romances.
This was a very cute, small town romance. I was hooked with the inner dialogs from our MCs, they actually made me chuckle. It’s a fun grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, slow burn story. I just wanna go live in this sweet little town, where folks will lend their truck to a neighbor in need and then borrow someone else’s to get home. Then, by the next day everyone has to meet in town because no one is really sure who has who’s truck. The characters were downright lovable little busybodies and I was here for every moment. If you’re looking for something sweet, closed door, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face, go read this book.
Sarah Adams does it again! When in Rome is a sweet, slow burn romance that has you flipping page after page so you can hurry and read Amelia and Noah's happy ending! I could not put this book down and I can't wait for more of Sarah Adams' stories!
This was cute and fun, but I'm realizing that "country" romances just don't particularly work for me!
I received an ARC of this book and didn't quite read it in time. I am a sucker for celebrity romances, and while this one had potential I just couldn't connect with the characters. Mostly because the way they were described was so incredibly repetitive-it felt like I was reading something a heart sick middle schooler wrote in their diary....grumpy, green eyes, polite polite polite. I spent much of the book wanting to roll my eyes at some of the ridicules dialogue and descriptions.
absolutely adored it! the sweetest small town romance I’ve read since book lovers by emily henry earlier this year. i love the banter sarah adams creates between characters. wish i could give MORE THAN 5 stars!!!!
I really enjoyed this rom com ! The characters were intriguing and kept me wanting to read it all of the time !
Overall I would recommend this book to everyone !
