I really did enjoy this book.
I was initially worried because the first third was real touch and go. It seemed cute, but then the characters would just act crazy.
If you want no spoilers at all, stop reading.
I thought the first kiss was WAY too soon. It was not earned. I didn’t even feel the tension before it. It felt very abrupt and weird. I thought, “Oh cool. I’m not going to like this book.”
That being said, it turned around.
I grew to love Noah’s sisters. Love. I can’t wait for their stories. Honestly, I liked them more than the main characters.
I thought this book was cute and fun. To be honest, I felt like it resembled In the Weeds, so maybe that’s what took away from my experience. I read that one first.
This is a 3.5-4 star for me. Cute but probably forgettable.
Thank you to @netgalley for a free copy in exchange for a review!

small town romance which is way different than sarah adams's book called the cheat sheet. this is one of my favorite trope: grumpy country boy x sunshine city girl in terms of small town romance. Gosh this is literally my favorite trope! This is the sweet type of romance where your heart feels full and I absolutely love the love between Amelia and Noah!

This was a super cute read! It was a little hard for me to get into at first but it definitely picked up as the story went on. I loved the small town setting and vibe; it really reminded me of Gilmore Girls. The dynamic between Amelia and Noah was amazing, and their little scenes with banter/tension was definitely drew me in and had me continue reading.

This was a charming contemporary romance about a pop star looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of her life and ends up falling for a small town baker. If you like that type of trope, then you will like this novel.
Most of the characters are generally likeable except for a select few that you will grow to dislike. Amelia was a favorite of mine, but I thought she was just trying too hard to win over Noah. This novel is heavy on the cheese and very predictable (insert eye roll). The two main characters are so incredibly different that I could never actually see a future for them, even towards the end.
There's not a lot of spice in this romance, so if that's what you like, then you will be disappointed. If you like Audrey Hepburn and Roman Holiday, then you will really enjoy this novel. While I was not blown away, I won't completely dismiss this author in the future. It's good, just not great.
Special thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I’ll be honest—this wasn’t exactly the most memorable romance for me but it was a super sweet, wholesome, quick read with minimal angst and fit the mood that I was in at the time. Rae Rose, as she’s known to the public, is a famous pop star and right before she’s about to embark on a major tour, she takes off for Rome, Kentucky (inspired by Roman Holiday, her favorite Audrey Hepburn movie) so she can take a minute to be breathe and be herself, just Amelia. Her car breaks down on Noah Walker’s front lawn and naturally this handsome, slightly grumpy, stranger offers her his guest bedroom until her car is fixed and she accepts. Everything in the book is really surface level (little is said of her music for instance) and moves at breakneck speed (insta-love, the whole kooky town of Rome rooting for them, and the resolution of any conflict). But there is a sweetness to the simple way this story is executed so if you’re in the mood for something quick and fun, this would be a good option to borrow from the library.

“𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞. 𝐍𝐨𝐚𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐤𝐢𝐝. 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.”
I swooned so hard I am puddin' ya'll! Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
This is my comfort read. It has all the elements of comfort and cozy I've ever wanted. It's like indulging in my ultimate comfort food, pajamas, movie, music, people, and vibe in the same night and it made me so gosh darn HAPPY!!!!! It's wholesome, its funny, it's sweet and homey and cozy and yummy and I literally loved every page of this book 🥺 And my face actually hurts from smiling!

I really loved this Rom Com and Sarah Adams is quickly becoming my favorite author for low spice wholesome romance books. I was a little iffy about this book when I found out it was about a singer because i normally don't like those but this book really surprised me! I highly recommend if you like small town and baking romances.

This was a very cute, small town romance. I was hooked with the inner dialogs from our MCs, they actually made me chuckle. It’s a fun grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, slow burn story. I just wanna go live in this sweet little town, where folks will lend their truck to a neighbor in need and then borrow someone else’s to get home. Then, by the next day everyone has to meet in town because no one is really sure who has who’s truck. The characters were downright lovable little busybodies and I was here for every moment. If you’re looking for something sweet, closed door, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face, go read this book.

Sarah Adams does it again! When in Rome is a sweet, slow burn romance that has you flipping page after page so you can hurry and read Amelia and Noah's happy ending! I could not put this book down and I can't wait for more of Sarah Adams' stories!

This was cute and fun, but I'm realizing that "country" romances just don't particularly work for me!

I received an ARC of this book and didn't quite read it in time. I am a sucker for celebrity romances, and while this one had potential I just couldn't connect with the characters. Mostly because the way they were described was so incredibly repetitive-it felt like I was reading something a heart sick middle schooler wrote in their diary....grumpy, green eyes, polite polite polite. I spent much of the book wanting to roll my eyes at some of the ridicules dialogue and descriptions.

absolutely adored it! the sweetest small town romance I’ve read since book lovers by emily henry earlier this year. i love the banter sarah adams creates between characters. wish i could give MORE THAN 5 stars!!!!

I really enjoyed this rom com ! The characters were intriguing and kept me wanting to read it all of the time !
Overall I would recommend this book to everyone !

Cute story with a very hallmark movie vibe set to it. If you liked The Cheet Sheet by this author then you will Enjoy when in Rome. A sweet clean romcom.

Audrey Hepburn+baking+grumpy/sunshine=easy love! I love how all these things feel into line. Not only were all of these included I also loved all the small town charm and family relationships that Noah has with his family. Amelia’s pop star life and the running away from it and trying to find her happy again was nice to see. I also loved all the baking and food, not only did Noah have a pie shop Amelia was trying to figure out how to do it all too which was comedic. All in all I enjoyed this story and it was a pretty good read.

This is a charming small town romance featuring a celebrity singer who’s car breaks down on the lawn of the nice guy in town.
I thought the beginning of the book was slow. When I picked it up again I really enjoyed it. The characters in the book, including the townspeople, were fun and quirky and I liked the welcoming small town setting.
I recommend this book, 4 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

Pop star Amelia Rose believes Audrey Hepburn has the answers to life. Audrey is full of grace and poise and she has a movie for every situation. So when Amelia decides she needs a break, she takes a page from Roman Holiday and looks up the closest Rome city...
But Amelia's car breaks down and she literally lands in Noah Walker's yard. Noah has a past with girls from out of town and throws up every wall, protection, and obstacle he can to protect himself. Bless his heart.
Amelia definitely has some T. Swift vibes. Noah really was so sweet looking out for sisters. I appreciated his struggle with his "inner gentleman" who knew what he should be doing vs. what his brain wanted him to do. The town characters really shine in the story as well.
I loved The Cheat Sheet. I did not, however, experience the same emotional connection to When in Rome. I do not know if it's because When in Rome is my least favorite Audrey movie (no HEA) or if I had too much going on in real life. Or if it was the story itself.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.

Amelia Rose, AKA Rae Rose pop star sensation, has been enamored with Audrey Hepburn her entire life. Having watched voraciously with her mom as a child, these movies became a soothing balm for tough times. Right now Amelia is running away from her glamorous life. Desperate for a mental break before she actually has one Amelia sets out from her home in Nashville to Rome, Kentucky. It might not be the Rome of Audrey’s infamous movies but it will have to do. As she rarely drives herself anywhere these days, her old car proceeds to get stuck. It is late, it is dark and the most handsome guy she has ever laid eyes on is tapping on her window. When Noah Walker finds Amelia he seems less impressed with her fame and more annoyed by this disturbance on his precious front lawn and quiet life. One romcom mishap after another, Noah, a baker who runs the town's pie shop cannot ignore his gentleman’s upbringing and takes Amelia under his wing (or in his case, very large bicep). As Amelia learns to appreciate the simple things in life like making the perfect pancake, Noah must open his once broken heart to the possibilities right in front of him. This cozy small town deliciousness has all the ingredients for a perfect Fall romance.

i’m going to be a little brutally honest here, i dnfed this book. i couldn’t get over some aspects of it (Rome, Kentucky being the main culprit). Maybe it was just the wrong time for me to read this l, maybe the kentucky thing is something i can’t get over. it read like a fan fiction from the peak of Tumblr to me (not a bad thing, just not at all what i expected). i’m planning to give this another chance at a later date to see if i change my mind but for now, these are my thoughts.
