Favorite Romcom of 2022!

Oh I loved this book so much. The first chapter hooked me in, and I laughed throughout the entire book. If you love romcoms, Audrey Hepburn, grump/sunshine, slow burn romances...this book is for you!

I want a Noah in my life!! This story was cute and loved the twist of where ROME is. Dual POV is always wonderful and I loved the chemistry built between these characters. There was a lot of give and take and the Grumpy-Sunshine trope worked wonderfully here. I found myself reading this every chance I got, so cute. It’s a very slow-burn and closed door but still very easily liked by all romance readers. Super cute, charming, and funny.

Amelia “Rae” Rose is at the top of her game. A beloved pop star about to leave on a nine month world tour when. To fend off burnout and taking inspiration from Audrey Hepburn, she finds herself in Rome, Kentucky. Her car breaks down in the middle of the night on Noah Walker’s front yard. Noah agrees she can spend the night while her car is being fixed. When she decides to stick around to enjoy some time outside the spotlight, sunshiny Amelia can’t stay away from grumpy stern Noah.

I really loved the town where this takes place and all the folks that live there. Noah’s sisters are also excellent characters. Noah and Amelia have a fun and flirty banter, but the slow burn/will they or won’t they dynamic lasted a little too long for my taste. I thought the glimpse of them together wasn’t enough to really root for them through conflict.

Content warnings: Noah’s parents died in an accident and his grandmother has Alzheimer’s. Amelia has a rocky history with her mother.

When in Rome is an easy and cozy read. I have a special soft spot in my heart for Southerners working in pie shops thanks to Waitress. Noah Walker may not be Jenna Hunterson, but the book did make me smile.

As someone who owns Roman Holiday on DVD and has watched it many times over the years, I appreciated the book’s references to the classic film. I mean, who doesn’t want to be Audrey Hepburn?

Burnout is real, especially in the past few years when the lines between work and personal time have been blurrier than ever. I appreciated that When in Rome addresses the effects of burnout, and that Amelia takes the time she needs to be ready to go back out on tour.

Noah is incredibly likable. I love that he is close with his sisters and that he has weekly traditions with them. His devotion to family is also clear from the way he cares for his grandmother. He also doesn’t care when people make fun of him for making pies for a living.

The Walker sisters are so lovely. I was especially impressed with how they immediately took to Amelia and were willing to lie to protect her from fans at a bar. It is lovely that no one in town turns Amelia in, but I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It is clear that Noah has been through a lot from the death of his parents to his fiancée cheating on him. However, there didn’t seem to be enough conflict between Amelia and Noah. Of course, Amelia needing to leave town eventually is an obstacle, but there was something about it that felt almost too easy. I’m used to romance novels where the protagonists break up and then get back together, but the path to the end of the book felt a little too smooth.

When in Rome has Hallmark movie vibes. It is cozy and fun, but predictable and not that deep. However, sometimes, a good comforting read is exactly what you need.

Thoroughly delightful!! I fell in love with Amelie and Noah and just loved every step their relationship took. I even cried a few times, which is so unusual for me in an adult romance.

Fantastic romcom!I thought this book was a blast! I'm usually not a fan of books featuring celebrities, but the cover of this book drew me to it and then the description finished me off. You have Rae/Amelia who is a popstar just looking to take a little "me time" before her next big tour, and then you have small town, pie shop owning Noah who really just wants to be left alone. They meet when Amelia's favorite old car conks out in his front yard in Rome, Kentucky. She is in that town because she loves Audrey Hepburn movies and it's the next best thing to Audrey's real Rome.

I loved the scene when they actually meet. He's trying to get her out of the hot car so that he can help her, and she's fairly sure that he is a secret serial killer. The banter between them is priceless! The attraction between them is also pretty golden when he is forced to let her stay with him while her car is fixed! The small town folk are determined to make something of them together, but they are also instrumental in keeping the popstar's presence quiet.

Amelia is able to start recovering from the controlled mess that has become her life. She's grieving the close relationship she had with her mom and being with the friendly people of Rome is good for her soul. Noah is good for her soul...and everything else. Noah also has some issues and actually finds Amelia may be just the person he can unload to. I loved them together. Her having to leave to go on tour is a major landslide hindering them becoming anything more than friends to each other. There's no way around their different lives--or so it appears!

Yes!!! This book was so good! I literally read it in one setting! I loved the small town romance aspect. I also really liked that she didn't give up being a singer and they decided to make it work! I loved the tiny moments between Amelia and Noah! This was a really nice, easy read that was very comforting! Would definitely recommend!

I’ll read anything by Sarah Adams! Loved this funny small town rom com about two complete opposites!

When in Rome had some good moments and some genuinely lol moments. But overall, I just couldn't love it as much as I was hoping to. It didn't really feel like Sarah Adams' signature works. There were some choice words that felt pointless and unnecessarily used.

When in Rome by Sarah Adams is a delightful, opposites attract romance set in the small town of Rome, Kentucky. I enjoyed this fun, light romance very much.

Amelia Rose, known as Rae Rose to her fans is a famous pop star, but she needs a break. As an Audrey Hepburn fan, she decides to go on a Roman Holiday, but Rome, Italy is too far away so she finds the closest town to her named Rome, and ends up in Rome, Kentucky. Unfortunately, her car breaks down on the edge of town, in Noah’s front yard. Noah’s house is so far from town, that he doesn’t have cell service, nor does he have internet at his house.

Noah recently took over his grandmother's pie shop, after a devastating break-up with a woman he was going to marry. Rome is a typical small town where gossip is the lifeblood of the town, but Noah doesn’t want to do anything to be the target of the gossip ever again. He reluctantly lets Amelia stay with him until she can get her car fixed. But, what will happen when they spend all this time together?

I liked this book nod to the movie Roman Holiday and Audrey Hepburn. Although Rome, Kentucky doesn’t have the same glamor as Rome, Italy, I liked the way Noah took Ameilia around town and showed her the sights. I enjoyed Noah very much. He was the perfect wounded, closed-off hero, with a heart of gold inside.

Amelia is fun and quirky but doesn’t seem like a pop star to me, but that’s okay, she’s still an interesting character and the perfect love interest for Noah. I also enjoyed Noah’s sisters and the way they meddled in his life.

Overall, I enjoyed this cute, light romance and want to read more books by Sarah Adams. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A darling tale of the pop star and the pie baker. From a meet cute to the happily ever after it was a delight to read. Fun fluff. Nice, clean entertainment. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

When in Rome has the same excellent vibe as all of Sarah’s previous books. I loved the atmosphere of Rome and all of its quirky townspeople. Amelia and Noah were so fun and I loved them together. Absolutely would recommend!

Sarah Adams is the Queen of the art of flirting and sexual tension. My smile never left my face throughout the entire book. I giggled. I swooned. I put my hand to my lips. I sighed. The chemistry simmering between Amelia and Noah was so believable and so well crafted. The heated glances and casual touches that lead to the moment at the lake (then again after the dinner party!) *fans face*

I adored Amelia's backstory and her love for Audrey Hepburn that led to her own "Roman Holiday" in Rome, Kentucky. I also totally fell for Noah and his devotion to his family (and his pie shop....and his pancake recipe...and his obsession with flowers). His sisters were equally adorable and Mabel was a hoot. Can we have another book where the sisters find love (let's not forget about James!). Such a fun, lovable story and I can't wait for the next Sarah Adams book!

P.S. I wept over the author's beautiful dedication to her grandmother. So sweet and so perfect.

Famous singer, Amelia, finds herself on the road to the nearest Rome city after watching her favorite Audrey Hepburn movie, except she doesn't quite make it. She finds herself in front of Noah Walker's house. Amelia needs some time to rethink where her life is headed and she finds the perfect little town, that will help protect her identity, to do it. She finds herself feeling at home with the people and town, but can it really last forever?

I really want to keep Noah Walker- he was so considerate and loving even when he didn't think he was. I'm also really hoping Adams makes a serious out of this one with the sisters!

Pub date: 9/20/22
In one sentence: Pop princess Rae Rose takes a very impromptu vacation to Rome, Kentucky, where bunking with pie shop owner Noah makes for a lovely trip indeed.

I've been feeling tired and kind of aimless, so I needed a fun read! Enter When in Rome, my first read from Sarah Adams, and a perfect choice for a pick me up.

This book is the cutest! I think I was smiling the whole time I was reading. Rae and Noah's banter and affection are just plain fun to read, especially the scenes where Noah tries to teach Rae to bake. Shockingly, becoming a pop star leaves little time to learn one's way around the kitchen. Noah's sisters also provide some great comic relief. The ending was lovely as well!

Sarah Adams' romances are low on spice, so sweet romance fans should definitely check this one out! 4.5 stars rounded up. I'm already excited for the next book in the series, Practice Makes Perfect, where Noah's sister Annie will get her own HEA.

Thank you to Ballantine Books-Dell for my e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was like a Hallmark movie, but with depth. If you like the Grump v. Sunshine trope, this is definitely a story for you! The characters are fun and the interactions wholesome with a dash of passion (ie PG13). I like how there are multiple angles to the storyline that provide dimension as the story goes on.
What holds me back from giving it five stars is that the story was halfway through before I really felt dedicated to the characters’ happily-ever-after. But by the end I was rooting for them all the way!
Looking forward to reading more about the other characters should the author decide to continue the series!

I loved this book so much! Amelia and Noah easily became one of my favorite book couples. I was rooting for them the entire time.

The story follows Amelia aka Rae Rose an international pop sensation that really needed a getaway from her stardom. She was very rundown and felt alone even though she was surrounded by people at all times.

She decides to get away for a while so she drives her old car to Rome, Kentucky. Rome, Kentucky sounds like the cutest town with the best people who look out for one another.

As luck would have it, her car breaks down in front of Noah's lawn. Noah is a good guy who owns the local pie shop in town. As Amelia waits for her car to be fixed Noah lets her stay at his house. As the story unfolds, they both develop feelings for each other, but since Amelia has to leave and Noah has to stay they try to not give in to those feelings.

It was so nice to see Amelia's character grow and really become her true self. I loved how she gained her confidence back and stood up for herself while realizing what she wants out of her life.

This was an adorable rom-com that will make your heart so happy!

Also, I want to know Noah's pancake recipe.

Thanks to netgalley and Random House Ballantine for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

When in Rome is a cute rom-com book that follows Amelia (who is actually pop sensation Rae Rose) who wants a break from the limelight. She is a big fan of Audrey Hepburn and before she’s supposed to leave to go in a world tour watches Roman Holiday and decides to go to the closest Rome for an adventure (Rome, Kentucky). Once there she finds Noah and everything changes.

I really enjoyed this book! As someone who loves celebrity gossip this was right up my alley! This is such a feel good book that I didn’t want to put down. I loved the banter between Amelia and Noah! If you are looking for a cute and fun read this fall I highly recommend this book!

I’ve really enjoyed some of the author’s previous book and had high hopes for this one. The main characters are very lovable and I liked their interactions as well as all the quirky side characters. The town Rome was really cute.

The characters have great chemistry and the plot is fun, but there was a bit too much swearing for me. It seemed over the top. I think the author is going a new direction and she’s got a lot of followers who love it, but I think it’s not for me.
