Truly I don’t even know where to begin with this review, this book was absolute perfection. Sarah Adams can truly do no wrong when it comes to writing, her characters (main and secondary), the plots, the romance… All perfection.

There isn’t a single interaction between Amelia (Rae) and Noah where I wasn’t feeling all the feels, smiling or giggling, This felt like such a sweet story of fate & everything happens for a reason for me.

Though it’s a little hard to describe Amelia, felt so insanely relatable and like a reflection of myself. (Minus the pop star part.), She’s clumsy, awkward at times, and handles the feeling of having the weight of the world on her shoulders with absolute grace. Noah freaking Walker, talk about absolute heart throb. Noah is all things someone could only dream of finding in a man one day. He cooks, reads, has an absolute heart of gold, perfection all wrapped up in one grumpy bundle.

While I know it isn’t everyones cup of tea, the whirlwind romance of it all was so beautifully done to me, when you know you know right? You could really feel the moments when they were falling in love with each other before either of them even knew it.

I also really enjoyed how I couldn’t quite get a firm grasp on my prediction of if they would get their happily ever after or a Roman holiday ending.

I found out about this release a little over a month ago and had been obsessively wishing for it to be September 20th already, I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to go on the journey that is Amelia and Noah earlier than anticipated! Thank you netgalley, Sarah Adams, and Random House ❤️

Sarah Adams is an amazing author and her books just draw you in to the story. This one did not disappoint. This felt totally new and fresh in the concept and romance story was adorable. Put this one of your list, famous star gets stuck in a small town and finds herself and a guy whom she falls for fast. It also just might make you want pancakes as well. Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for the advanced copy!

A cute modern retelling of Roman Holiday. Overall this was an enjoyable and fun summer read for me. I've always been a fan of Audrey Hepburn and Roman Holiday so also enjoyed this book. I loved the acknowledgment that it was a retelling and paying homage to the classic that it was based on. And while I don't need a happy ending in a book, it was a nice way to tie this one up.

This author knows how to write! She's overwhelmed with her tour schedule as a well loved pop singer who accidentally drives on to his lawn oopsies! He's a lonely grump who's well loved and respected in Rome. Rae gets under his skin and brings out his emotions and feelings. To her, he's honest which she values tremendously. Read it to find out the aww moments and more. I give this a solid 3.75 stars.

Pop star Amelia 'Rae' Rose has a burnout and escapes to a small town after being inspired by her favorite movie 'Roman Holiday'. Except instead of Rome, Europe she ends up in Rome, Kentucky. And when grumpy baker, Noah finds Amelia on his front lawn, both of them are thrown into a whirlwind romance neither of them expected.

Never in a million years thought I'd get the arc but WOW.
Wholesome. Purely wholesome this story/book was. I loved the Audrey Hepburn inspiration & how beautifully it played out in the story.
A low-key grumpy×sunshine pairing of Amelia & Noah was EVERYTHING. The romance was sweet, subtle & explosive. Had the slowest burn ever.

The small town vibes were just perfect & I could picture myself there. AND the side characters were amazing, who should all have books of their own. That's the magic of Sarah's writing; they'll just bring joy & happiness.
Not usually a fan of celebrity romance, but I'll recommend this everytime & anytime.

Thank you Netgally & Random House for the arc, all thoughts are my own.

When In Rome by Sarah Adams

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Ok but like this was such a cutesy hallmark love story that just hit the spot. I loved this feel good book! Reminded me so much of the Hannah Montana movie. Lol.
Amelia Rose, AKA Rae Rose, heads to small town Kentucky to take a break from her famous hectic pop star life. She finds herself with a broken down car in front of Noah Walker's house. Noah is a small town guy who runs the local pie shop (how cute right?). They don't exactly hit it off because Noah is a major grump, and Amelia is just wanting to fit into small town life and escape her reality. Eventually, Mr. Grumpy realizes he is attracted to Amelia, and she realizes that she wants more with Noah as well.

-dual pov
-grumpy/sunshine
-pop star/small town boy
-mutual pining
-small town romance
-super charming community & side characters
-HEA

This book was such a cute and fun read. I really did love it and left me with all of the feel good feels. This book would make the perfect rom com movie, too. I'd love to see it come out as a film adaptation!!

Brb going to read the rest of Sarah Adam's books.

I really enjoyed this book. it was funny and entertaining. Amelia (Rae) is a world wide know pop artist who feels she has lost her passion and is in need of an escape. She follows her idol Audrey Hepburn and takes off to Rome on a Roman holiday. Rome, Kentucky that is.
Noah is a jaded, grumpy pie shop owner whom Amelia just happens to stumble across on her escape when her car dies in his front yard.
Amelia tries to show Noah that he can trust again and Noah begins to open up to her, all while teasing her about her inability to make a pancake.
I enjoyed how this book helped Amelia to stand on her two feet and decide what she wants and regain her love of music.

When in Rome by Sarah Adams is about a pop star (Amelia Rose AKA Rae Rose) who travels to Rome, Kentucky for a bit of a getaway. There she breaks down in Noah Walker's yard in the middle of the night. Of course, he comes to her rescue. There is a bit of a Will they, Won't they? aspect to this book that is slightly maddening, but overall I thought this was cute (of course they do). Three stars.

5/5 stars. Keep an eye out for this one!
Sometimes you start a book, and within the first chapter you know something magical is about to happen. This was one of those books.
At its bones, When in Rome is a story about a disillusioned pop star who, in a breaking moment right before a press docket that will kick off a 9 month tour, flees and ends up broken down on the side of the road in podunk Rome, Kentucky. The owner of the house she broke down in front of is the local handsome, surly pie shop owner. Of course, sparks fly and banter ensues..
The writing had the type of pacing that lets you sink into the story, and forget you're even reading. The story was engaging, and actually kept me guessing at times for how it would go. Don't get me wrong, I love RomComs- they are a major source of dopamine in my life. But oftentimes they are very formulaic. When in Rome, however, didn't fall into most of the tropes you would typically expect from this type of book. The dialogue was fresh and never felt forced. Every character has the type of back story and personality that leads me to believe this might be the start of a new series. And by the end of the book I was invested in each and every character.
This was my first read of Sarah Adams, but it won't be my last! I got an ARC of this story, and I feel so lucky to have gotten a sneak preview of such a lovely book!

Oh Noah, sweet sweet grumpy Noah! This story had it all: small town get away, close knit meddling family, Audrey Hepburn, and pies. I loved the dual story lines and the perfect evolution of Amelia and Noah’s relationship. Fun twists and heart string moments through out the story had me smiling, crying, and gasping. Another sweet classic story from Sarah!

✨Book Review✨

Rating: Way more than 5 🌟

My goodness, I loved this book so much. When I was approved for this eARC title I literally refreshed my bookshelf waiting for it to appear like I was waiting to find out if I got into college…

Sarah Adams has quickly become one of my absolute favorite authors and is definitely a must-buy for me going forward.

Quick synopsis: Rae Rose is a famous pop star who is feeling lost and overwhelmed with her life and career. She turns to Audrey Hepburn films whenever she feels sad and confused and winds up living out her very own version of Roman Holiday. Except this Roman Holiday lands her on the front lawn of a very grump but attractive Noah in her broken-down old car... She decides to stay to take a break and help find her purpose and joy of signing again, but finds so much more in the process!

This book truly made my heart smile. It has that sunshine/happy girl meets the grumpy hot bachelor trope that we all know and love with a slow-burn romance that makes you have butterflies the entire read! I want to hop in my car and wind up in Rome, Kentucky to be loved on by all of these characters. Seriously Mabel was nearly my favorite and I want her to be real! Maybe Noah too…

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Random House for this eARC. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to read this book and provide an honest review.

Who knew Rome, Kentucky was exactly where I wanted to be in life! And Noah…can you please share him with me, Amelia, ‘cause hot damn he’s utter perfection.

When In Rome is the perfect tribute to Audrey Hepburn and her movie Roman Holiday. This book roughly follows a similar path to Audrey’s but yet it was fresh, exciting, and totally different.

I adored every character in this book, except Susan, but we won’t talk about her. Rae Rose, aka Amelia, is a famous pop-star looking for a reprieve from her crazy life and all she wants is to get back to who she is and the things she enjoys. So she takes off for Rome…Kentucky because it’s the best she can do.

Noah is the best classic gentleman I’ve ever met. He’s a pie-shop owner, a no-cellphone or WiFi loving freak, a matching pajama set wearer, the most caring grandson and big brother ever, and a smoking hot pancake-making male specimen. I can’t find enough words to describe how utterly charming and perfectly grumpy this man is.

I live for the small town vibes in this story and I wanted to cry about how protective the town was of Amelia and how much they welcomed her with open arms straight out the gate (or straight from breaking down in Noah’s front yard in the middle of the night, as is her case). And how close and meddling the whole town was with Noah melted my heart right into a puddle.

This story was well balanced between the funny, heartfelt and spicy moments. And even though we expected to know how it ended, it kept me on the edge of my seating wanting these two to make things work and just be together! (Side note, I LOVE SLOW BURN ROMANCES)

I highly recommend every single thing Sarah Adams writes. Her stories are just *chef’s kiss* Please be a dear and read WIR ❤️

Releases in September. But don’t mind all the pie eating I’ll be doing in the meantime to celebrate 🥧🤤

✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨

When In Rome by @authorsarahadams

Format: eARC from @netgalley
Publisher: @randomhouse
Publication Date: Sept. 20, 2022

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶🌶

Synopsis:

Amelia Rose, known as Rae Rose to her adoring fans, is burned-out from years of maintaining her "princess of pop" image. Inspired by her favorite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off
in the middle of the night for a break in Rome. Rome, Kentucky, that is. When Noah Walker finds Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he makes it clear he doesn't have the time or patience for celebrity problems. He's too busy running the pie shop his grandmother left him and reminding his
nosy but lovable neighbors to mind their own damn
business. Despite his better judgment, he lets her
stay in his guest room--but only until her car is
fixed--then she's on her own. Then Noah starts to
see a different side of Rae Rose--she's Amelia: kindhearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. He can't help but get close to her. Soon she'll have to return to her glamorous life on tour, but until then, Noah will show Amelia all the charming small-town experiences she's been missing, and she'll help him open his heart to more. Amelia can't resist falling for the cozy town and her grumpy tour guide, but even Audrey had to leave Rome eventually.

My thoughts:
I absolutely LOVED this book! It had such a sweet romcom storyline where famous girl meets ordinary boy with lots of Roman Holiday and Audrey Hepburn references.

Also included:
🌻 Small town where friends and neighbors are like family and everyone knows everyone/all up in everyone’s business
🌻 Closed door romance (but with some spice)
🌻 Forced proximity romance
🌻 Witty banter & sweet moments between the main characters

Thank you NetGalley & Random House Publishing for sharing this eARC. ❤️📖

Sarah Adams does it again. This book is charming, and has everything that makes her book golden. An adorable couple, small town, back and forth banter - what more could you ask for? At this point, anything Sarah Adams writes is a to read in my book. Admittedly I was a little nervous to read this because I’ve never seen an Audrey Hepburn movie (I know, I know) but you don’t need to have seen any of the movies to love this book.

I was given an Advanced Reader Copy by NetGallery for an honest review.

This modern take on Roman Holiday, sunshine meets grump, was the perfect small town romance! I absolutely adored every aspect of this story. Amelia a.k.a Rae Rose, is a pop star in need of a break when she finds herself stranded in front of Noah, a pie shop owner's house in the middle of Rome, Kentucky. There we follow the journey of these two characters

I LOVED this whole town! The crazy but close knit bond between all the members of this town was so special to read. Getting to know every single one of these characters was such a fun journey. AND the chemistry between Amelia and Noah!!!! These two were so cute together!!

I adored this story and it was such a funny, steamy, heartwarming read.

Thank you Random House Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review :)

This was such a cute summer rom com! The unique storyline was a lot of fun! The main character is a famous pop star, which definitely creating some entertaining scenarios and believable conflict, instead of relying on miscommunication like so many romances do! The male main character, Noah, fulfilled all of my Hallmark small town dreams! He was the perfect grump with a heart of gold, and I would have definitely uprooted my life for him lol. Sarah Adams is now one of my go-to authors!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

3 to 3 1/2.

Some moments were a definite 3 stars and some came close to 4. Wishing GR had the half star ratings.

This is a cute story about a pop-start who needs a break and ends up in a small town. Amelia's car breaks down in front of Noah's house and he ends up letting her stay at his place. Situations ensue.

I liked the setting and the movie reference and all the secondary characters. There were some good scenes.
Unfortunately, I didn't feel the zing in Amelia and Noah's connection. There was just something missing.

Also, what's up with all the swear words?

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
