I have been a fan of Sarah Adams since the beginning. This is her first traditionally published novel, and I could see a slight difference. I still very much enjoyed it. There was a little more language (still mild) than in her other books. The language fit the characters, and it was a point of discussion throughout the story. There was also more focus on the adult content. It was still closed door, but more often. This story felt like it was more focused on the physical attraction and sexual tension between the characters rather than the character arcs.

I thought this was a super sweet, well thought out book. I absolutely loved the main characters, the side characters and the setting. It was all so well written that I could imagine it my head, which I love when reading a book. I loved how the personalities of both Amelia and Noah were slowly shown as they began to get to know each other. Even the side characters were so sweet and well developed, which can be rare in a book.

A fun take on the classic Roman Holiday! Love the superstar falls for ordinary guy troupe and it was just enough sizzle, love story and animosity.

Though I do think the end wrapped up a little quick with some of the more “negative” relationships in her life (trying really hard here not to have spoilers!) and that could have been expanded a bit.

Either way, a really heart-warming rom com that reads like a spicy Hallmark movie!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for my e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

When I tell you that I about died when I saw that I was approved for this on Netgalley its only a slight exaggeration. Sarah Adams is quickly becoming my favorite romcom author and When In Rome just helped cement that title.

I haven't read the grumpy/sunshine trope very much but it was done so well in this novel! Noah was the perfect grumpy cinnamon roll and I just loved him.

What I love so much about Sarah Adams' writing is how spunky she writes her female leads. Amelia definitely has that signature wit and spunkiness. I loved how playful she was with Noah and how she was able to get him out of his grumpy shell.

I also loved Noah's sisters, especially Annie. I have a strong feeling that there will be spinoffs for at least one of his sisters and that makes my heart so happy.

Sarah is so good at writing a decently large cast and doing it so well. I never felt confused on who was who and I felt connected to each character.

The read recently where the author said that her characters have a strong inner dialogue and boy, is that accurate. It's yet another thing that I love about her books. You grow to feel so strongly connected with the characters and their inner thoughts are filled with wit and sarcasm and it's just utter perfection.

I cannot speak highly enough about When In Rome. It made me want to watch Audrey Hepburn movies and get more active in my own small town.

Five stars are not nearly enough- this books gets ALL the stars.

Cute story, really liked the characters and the plot line with this book. I gave it 3 stars only because it's not what I would typically read but overall I enjoyed it.

4.5 stars! A delightful grumpy versus sunshine, popstar meets small country town book. I’m a big fan of romantic comedies by Sarah Adams and this one did not let me down. Even though the premise may seem a bit cliché, I loved her spin on it. I’m always here for unraveling a grumpy hero.

“When he smiles like that, he looks so approachable and comfy that I want to drape myself over him and just squeeze him in a giant hug. He’s huggable. The Grumpy Pie Shop owner is absolutely huggable.”

I loved getting to the core of Noah. He was such a wonderful complex character. And Amelia balanced him in all the best ways. Their banter and chemistry was on point. I laughed and swooned throughout this book. The small town of Rome, Kentucky created the perfect backdrop for hilarious side characters and laugh your butt off scenarios. You’ll be left craving pie and wishing you could jump into this tiny town.

Thank you NetGalley, Random House, and Sarah Adams for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I was really curious about this book after seeing the summary and how popular the author’s other novel, The Cheat Sheet, is. This is a sweet book that follows Amelia, a pop star that decides to take a break from her life, as she ends up in Rome, Kentucky. She winds up on Noah’s front yard and stays with him and they begin to get to know one another better while her car is getting repaired. Their relationship is super cute and I also really enjoyed the side characters. It was a little cheesy at times, but it’s a cute, light read that would be perfect for Summer!

Having just vacationed in Rome, the title of this novel caught my attention and even though the MC and I visited different cities, I found myself intrigued.

When in Rome is a sweet and clean romance about a pop star hiding from her life and a baker hiding his heart. Amelia coasts into Noah's front yard one summer evening and the rest is history. He grumpily extends the barest of hospitality to Amelia so that she has a safe place to stay while her car is being repaired and before you know it, she's his favorite thorn in his side and he's her favorite target of teasing. Neither of them are looking for the attraction or romance that flairs between them but since when does that matter? Uhhhhm, never.

When in Rome is a cute romance that features a pop star, a small town, lots of hilarious characters and the potential for a few follow up books, if Noah's sisters get a chance at romance (which I think they should). If you're looking for a clean, sweet romcom, this is the perfect book for you.

Have you ever had to actually physically hug a book? And it hugged you back? That’s how I felt about When In Rome by the fabulous Sarah Adams. (Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!)

What I loved about it:
🥞 the humor! I was giggling and kicking my feet the entire time and several scenes throughout the book had me busting up
🥞 the slow burn romance, banter, and relationship development *SWOON*
🥞 the Audrey Hepburn fan references
🥞 the tension and the build up - the pace was absolute perfection
🥞 The grumpy sunshine trope is the best and I will die on this hill
🥞 the main characters’ individual backstories made me just adore them
🥞 it had literally everything you could ever want or need in a romance novel.

I ADORED this book and everything about it!! I hope there are more novels coming from this town and its characters because I NEED 😍 and now I need an oversized pie shop or flower shop sweatshirt so I can pretend I’m Amelia stealing Noah’s 😏

I loved Amelia and Noah! Their characters were so fun and well-developed! The plot twist at the end was very good and I didn't see it coming! The small town was so fun! I recommend this book to anyone who likes sweet romance novels.

I love Sarah Adams! I thought this book was so precious and even though it was cheesy at times, it was such a light read that it made up for it. I SO appreciate romance books that don’t have explicit scenes in them and this is one of those. There is obvious attraction but not in depth details which I’m thankful for. I would say the age range is 16+

I have absolutely adored the 3 books of Sarah Adams' that I have read so far, so when I saw she was releasing a new book, I knew I just had to read it!! My anticipation was high for this one, and BOY did Adams not disappoint. I adored the small town setting. The characters were so richly and vividly developed, even the side characters, and the town was also vividly painted that I wished I could go visit! Amelia and Noah were so cute, and I loved seeing their relationship blossom over the course of the book.

Really enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope. Great development for both of the main characters. I loved watching her try to navigate a small town and the charm that came with it. Such a good heart felt book that I really enjoyed reading!!

Books like this give me such a high; cute and sexy full of playful snarky banter. I loved them both and the sisters and Mabel!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think this book has changed my mind about small town romances! This book was so adorable! Despite Amelia being a famous singer, she was so relatable and both of their personal issues felt so real and understandable.
Their chemistry was perfect and Noah is just perfect!
I was nervous for the ending, but it felt like a realistic HEA for their characters.

This book warmed my heart, I am a sucker for small-town romances and this hit the spot. I love the grumpy sunshine trope and this book executed it perfectly. Usually I hate when there is a famous person invovled because I feel like they will be shallow or stuck up but this book did a wonderful job of creating a believable celebrity that was still down to earth and so loveable. I didn't cringe at her behavior at all which is saying something for me! I would definitely recommend it for a single-sitting read!

When in Rome is such a sweet romantic comedey. You might think it would be difficult to relate to a world-famous pop star as a main character, but Adams does a wonderful job of making all of her characters relatable and enjoyable.

A perfect poolside read!

I recieved this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Okay. First of all, Sarah Adams can write my type of man so well! Her descriptions of Noah made him so appealing to me, and that’s a surefire way to get and keep me invested in a story.
So while I obviously can’t identify with being a well known celebrity, I can definitely relate to having a desire to be left alone for a while. Amelia’s desires made total sense to me. I also thought the push and pull between Noah and Amelia was really nicely done too—so many times in books with this trope it feels like the chemistry is only physical, but I truly felt that it was more than that for these two. One more aspect that I thought was very authentic was the teasing relationships between Noah and his sisters—my husband has three sisters and they behave in much the same way.
I loved the supporting characters and the resolution to Amelia and Noah’s unstoppable desire to be together. This was a wonderful book!

When I finally got a chance to start this I had totally forgotten the blurb. I was DELIGHTED when I picked it up and learned the premise. I was slightly bummed that it was a fade-to-black spicy scene situation, but honestly, I was so captivated by the whole story that it didn't matter!
