Another great book from one of my favourite authors, full of twists and turns, great characters that I soon got involved with and it kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end which I never guessed.

Who wouldn’t love to have a luxury getaway and that’s exactly what the main characters all couples in this twisty thrillers are experiencing.

Three couples all at different life stages one newly married, one trying to overcome grief and one trying to get time away together to reconnect. The three couples become friends but when a young beautiful resort waitress is found dead the finger of suspicion turns on each character in turn.

Every marriage has its secrets and problems and this was explored brilliantly in the book. I found I was getting the couples mixed up a bit in the beginning but that’s probably me, I’ll blame it on my age 😃

Overall I found this an easy to read thriller , not a jump out of my seat kind but I did enjoy it . One warning if your going on holiday to a luxury resort you may be better not to pack this one .

Whoa! This was an excellent book! I picked it up thinking I would read a little here and there but it grabbed me from page 1 and I finished it FAST! I couldn’t put it down as I was wanting to find out how it all unraveled. I’m excited to read more from this author as this was my first one. I will be recommending to friends for a twisty thriller!

Well, Sue Watson has done it again!! This book 🤯. I loved every single character, even the ones you were supposed to hate. The plot twists just came coming. Even at the end when I thought it was all revealed you get hit with another. I literally spent the entire book accusing everyone! So so good. I was tearing through the pages from the very beginning until the end. Can’t wait for whatever Sue Watson comes out with next!

This was my first novel by author Sue Watson, and I will likely read more of her books in the future. The Resort features three married couples who become 'vacation friends' during their stay at a spectacular island hotel, but whose social veneer collapses when a murder investigation prevents them from leaving. The whodunnit has interesting twists and turns, unusual suspects, and a clever ending.

What a ride! The story has pulled me in and it was difficult to put it down. A bit of Agatha Christie like being stuck in a beautiful art deco hotel on an island with a murderer or at least an unresolved murder.

We get to see each married couple through the eyes of each wife but the main character ("I") remains Sam, the newlywed on her honeymoon.

The character development was quite twisted and we grow to know everyone through the eyes of Sam on her honeymoon with David. The progression is like in a real life where we judge people on our first impressions that could be superficial but then their complicated lives get unraveled through each woman's perspective. The end was also a bit of Agatha Christie- like and I didn't foresee most of it.

The only thing that bothered me was the violence against women. I wish there was at least one likeable men to make up for it because I was quite shaken about it even after having finished the book. I do hope that there are very little men like this out there because I would hate living in the world and feeling so unsafe and petrified just because a man found you attractive.

Sam and Dave, Daisy and Tom, Becky and Josh. They all have something in common - they’re staying at the same beautiful, expensive resort. They’re all there for different reasons, but proximity brings the strangers together for a ‘holiday friendship’ and then the suspicious death of someone at the resort brings them even closer, while also threatening to tear them apart.  As their individual marriages come under scrutiny, everyone is a suspect and no-one knows who to trust.

The Resort was a breathtaking book - quite literally - I was holding my breath for most of it! The twists were coming from everywhere and I had no idea who was hiding what until the very end.  Every one of the main men were absolutely infuriating in their own ways - could I reach through the pages and strangle at least one of them? Is that too much to ask? 😅 and the women were incredibly interesting, with the type of back stories that made you feel like you really knew them.  

There was a little bit of repetitiveness (like the sheer number of times the characters had to tell us how hot it was and that it was ‘the hottest UK summer on record’ but that was a very small annoyance. The rest of the story was absolutely brilliant.

Honestly, I’m left feeling like I don’t know if I should pick up another mystery too soon after finishing this one, because after this, surely anything else will feel lacking in the ‘gasp worthy twists’ area!

Three couples become friends during their vacation in the luxurious and secluded Fitzgerald’s. All three couples have something a bit off about them. When a young waitress is found murdered, everyone is shaken to their core, why would anyone kill her? and who did it?

There is virtually no cell reception in the resort. Because of an incoming storm and everyone having to be interviewed, no one can leave the island. Everyone is a suspect.

Honestly, I almost gave up a couple of pages in. I didn’t, but it was close. The way Sam’s POV was written was very childish (especially one line) and I understand why, but it just felt cringey. I stuck around because I saw it had good ratings and I completely understand why. It’s a very easy book to read, it made me want to find out who the killer on this resort really was! After getting over the first chapter, I was definitely hooked and was not expecting that ending. I’m glad I stuck to this book because I did end up enjoying it! 3.5 rounded up to 4 :)

WOW. I freaking loved this book so much. It was so well written and just full of twists everywhere. I read alot of thrillers and this one really surprised me, in a good way!

A holiday at a secluded island resort - what could be better? Three couples meet and become friendly - and they all become embroiled in a murder investigation as well. Sam and David got married after a brief courtship and are not starting their honeymoon on a good note. Daisy and Tom are trying to move their relationship forward after a major loss. Becky and Josh are celebrating their 20th anniversary. All these couples have issues and no one can be trusted.

Sue Watson has written another great mystery to lose yourself in - and you won't see all the twists coming. It's sort of a locked room scenario because a murder happened and no one can leave the island so everyone is suspect. All of the characters are intriguing and you'll love to hate some of them! Pack this one for your next trip!

Wow, what a page turner! I felt like I was one of the guests stuck on the island with a murderer on the loose. The plot offers lots of little twists which I loved, would recommend this book for all the murder mystery fans. Great job Ms Watson!

I was in the mood for a page-turner, and The Resort delivered.

A 1920s art deco resort on a remote island off the coast of Britain offers an unusual tropical microclimate, luxury and privacy for its well-heeled guests.

The story centers around three couples holidaying at the resort: newlyweds on their honeymoon, a glamorous couple overcoming tragedy and a cloistered wife with an overly protective husband. All three couples are enjoying their luxurious retreat until a young and beautiful hotel waitress is discovered dead on the beach.

A murder investigation ensues and all the guests are suspects in this “locked door”/remote island mystery, complete with steady pacing and solid character development. A highly enjoyable read.

Sue Watson writes the best thrillers. I’ve come to expect her thrillers be amazing in this one is no exception. It immediately starts interesting and doesn’t stop until the last page.

Having previously enjoyed Sue Watson's work, her upcoming release The Resort caught my eye, and did not disappoint. Here's a snapshot... One opulent resort on an island in the UK. Among the guests, three couples who gravitate to each other, though they have little to nothing in common outside of the resort. The three wives telling a story of oppressive heat, simmering tension, violence, murder. The Resort has twists, reveals, comes to a satisfying conclusion without an over-the-top final twist spoiling it. This easy-to-read psychological suspense novel is perfect for a holiday or long weekend read – only, perhaps hold off while staying at a posh place cut off from the mainland! 4.0–4.5 stars.

This was a fast paced book, with each chapter telling the story from each wife’s point of view. It was entertaining and engrossing from start to epilogue finish!

Sue Watson is another author whose books I always enjoy. All of her stories keep me engrossed, turning the pages quickly, eager to see what happens next. And that is what a good suspense novel should do, keep you curious! The Resort was a solid read with a cast of characters who all have a reason to dislike the young waitress at the resort, but who would resort (ha!) to murder?

I’ve read several books by Sue Watson and The Resort did not disappoint! An atmospheric thriller, it kept me guessing! Rich, multi layered, characters drive a twisted tale, worthy of Agatha Christie, herself! A great who dunnit and a perfect beach read.

This story is about three different couples on holiday. All three couples are going through different marriage difficulties. When a member of staff is murdered nobody is allowed to leave and nobody knows who they can trust.

This story is told from three different points of view. The main problem I had is that the voices of these characters were not noticeably different and I was constantly confused as to who was who. This might be a good read for someone who is new to thrillers. This was an okay story but didn’t do anything new or different to stand out.
