A beautiful, secluded island resort sounds like a dream but for the three couples in this book - it becomes a nightmare!

Sam and David are on their honeymoon. Daisy and Tom are taking this time away to decide how to move forward after loss. Becky and Josh have left their kids behind for a chance to be together. What more could they ask for? They are in a beautiful location, the food is delicious, the drinks are flowing, and they have formed a holiday friendship of sorts. Their trips should be bliss. But unfortunately, the body of the beautiful young waitress/yoga instructor has been found. The police have been called in and everyone is a subject. Being on an island they know they can't leave and someone in their midst is a murderer!

Who can be trusted? Who indeed!

This one had me scratching my head initially as I tried desperately to solve the case. It was evident from the beginning that something wasn't right. There were too many suspicious characters, but secretive behavior and lies do not necessarily make one a killer, does it?

Watson has once again written a gripping and tension filled book! She kept me on my toes guessing and second guessing my prime suspect which changed throughout the book. Then at the end of the day - I was wrong!

This was a captivating whodunit which had me turning the pages at breakneck speed. I also loved the tropical island location which added to the atmosphere and gave a there-is-no-escape feel to the book.

Full of tension and unease, The Resort was right up my alley. Plus, that ending left me with my mouth hanging open! Shock-a-Rama!

This is a good read.
Three couples meet whilst on holiday at a luxurious hotel on an island near Devon.
We get an insight into each couples’ lives and they’re all dealing with their own issues.
Whilst out walking Sam and Daisy find a woman’s body at the bottom of the cliffs, but are unsure if she fell or was pushed.
The Police come to the island to interview everyone but it’s not clear who would want her killed.
This is a good mystery thriller.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Sue Watson has done it again with her latest psychological thriller, The Resort.

The story takes place on a tidal island on the Devon Coast. It's the height of summer and coupled with the simmering heat and the guests being confined to the resort really makes this thriller a pressure cooker.

The main focus is on six couples who are caught up in the drama. We only hear from the POVs of the three wives. Sue has written fascinating characters who, just when you think you understand them and their relationships, there's a twist and you realise you'd got it all wrong.

This is a storyline that seized hold of me and kept me firmly in its grip until I'd turned the last page. I thought I had everything figured out but I was surprised with the final twists.

I just finished reading the Resort by Sue Watson and here is my honest review.

While on their honeymoon a beautiful waitress is found dead on the beach. The same waitress her husband was over flirty with. The ex-wife told her things about him, things she now can’t unhear and after another woman was attacked the very next day, both times when she wasn’t with her husband, she now wonders if they got married too soon and if she knows her husband at all….

I loved this book. I usually hate books with 3 POV but this one needed it to cover all the bases.
Three women come together at the resort. It follows 3 women, all from different walks of life with their own pains and it's about them coming together after the waitress is found by 2 of them on the beach dead. It left you guessing all the way through. I thought I had it figured out twice but not even close. I love books that do that. You literally won’t know your head from your….. By the end of the book you will feel like you ran a marathon from your armchair.

Psychological thrillers are my jam and this one was premium preserve. 5 stars! I have the biggest hangover from this book! If you love to be thrown around like a ragdoll with a book, GET THIS ONE NOW!!

You will not regret it.
This book is a 5 star read and I highly recommend it.

This was another cracker from Sue Watson!
She crafts her novels so well- characters that you ALWAYS have an opinion on, (whether that is a negative or positive one) and a plot that grips you through every page.
Those characters gave me serious anger though, the women were doormats, and the husbands were so controlling! I love that I can still like Watson's books even when the characters annoy me so much!
The plot was fantastic, and I couldn't wait for the revelations to start to see what had happened. I suspected every character at one point or another, which is just what I love! TRUST NO ONE!
I had hoped for a bigger 'wow' ending though, but I have extremely high standards in that area!
A fantastic book.

The cover hooked me right away and I knew I wanted to read this. The book alternates between 3 couples on vacation at this resort and trying to figure out who the murderer is.

The character development throughout the book is great, and I was totally invested throughout the book on learning who did it, but unfortunately the ending fell a little flat for me. Maybe because I had it figured out, for the most part. But ultimately I was left with “that’s it?”

My final thought is “eh. It’s ok. Glad I read it.” Warning: lots of triggers in this book if you are sensitive to that.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy..

I love a book that starts with a prologue, its like a friend is saying get a cuppa and get ready for my news. But this is no cuppa coffee book. This is grab a stiff drink, strap in and prepare to be taken on a roller coaster ride. This book is off the scale fantastic. So many twists and turns. And then the ending #totalshocker. If you only read one book this summer make it this one!

Sam is on her honeymoon with her husband David at the luxury and expensive hotel Fitzgeralds. Daisy and her husband Tom are also at the resort trying to reconnect and fix their marriage after some traumatic experiences. Then there’s heavily medicated Becky and her controlling husband Josh. All three couples are hoping for a fabulous vacation. The one thing they probably weren’t expecting at all was to discover the horrific scene of the waitress Stella at the base of a cliff dead. The three couples become close friends and set out together to find out who the killer is. What if one of the killers is among the friend group though? Who can they really trust?

I am a sucker for thrillers set in remote locations. They are always usually a good read for me. The Resort was a quick and fun read though it did get repetitive and dragged a bit in the middle. All that being said it’s still a pretty solid read as I was immediately pulled in from the first chapter. I can say that I pretty much hated all the characters and I don’t think any of them really had any redeeming qualities. Don’t get me started on David. I absolutely hated him, ugh did I hate that guy. If you’re into remote location thrillers give this one a try. Thanks to @bookouture and @netgalley for an ARC copy to read and review for my honest opinion.

The Resort by Sue Watson. This book has all the trappings to set the stage for a suspenseful story - a luxury resort cut off from the mainland, three couples seemingly in love and a gruesome murder. Stella, the beautiful blonde waitress of the resort is found dead, her head smashed against the cliffs, trigerring a lockdown of the island and an atmosphere of tension, suspicion and high drama. While the storyline had a lot of potential, I found the narrative repetitive in parts and not as edge-of-the-seat as other novels I've read by the author. The ending did some justice but not quite.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC.

This was my first book by this author and I definitely did enjoy the premise of the book! I just felt that there were a lot of things that came off as confusing or questions that were left unanswered which I did not like. But overall I would read another book by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Three couples are on holiday in an exclusive resort, which is cut off from the mainland. The three couples become acquainted while away and when a dead body is found, all 3 couples become suspicious of each other, with the wives all suspicious of their husbands. All of them are hiding things, which are slowly exposed.

This is another great read from this author. This author never fails to produce a page turning, riveting read. The writing was excellent and was quite fast paced, meaning the story developed well. The descriptives of the resort setting were spot on, and really brought the venue to life in the minds eye. The characters were all doing really well, and most of them were likeable and relatable, but there were awful characters, but they fitted with the story perfectly. An excellent read and I highly recommend.

🏖️We are introduced to three couples who are amongst the guests at the luxury Fitzgerald hotel off the coast of England. Murder and tragedy ensue and we have to work out who's responsible! Some great love to hate chaps in amongst the fabulously well written characters.

Three couples are on holiday at the secluded island resort known as the Fitzgerald. The Fitzgerald is an expensive, luxury art deco hotel, secluded from the rest of the world. When Stella, the friendly bartender, is found dead on the beach one morning, the quiet, relaxing hotel becomes a buzz of activity as everyone is under suspension and forced to remain.

This was a great entertaining read! I enjoyed every minute and couldn’t put it down.

This was my first novel by Sue Watson. I really enjoyed her writing style and I really enjoyed the atmosphere/setting of the story. However, the only complaint I have about this, is that the characters sometimes got very confusing to keep up with, and I felt that things just happened too fast, and maybe just a bit predictable. The characters were very well described, but they just got all clustered and I felt I almost had to make a list of who was who to keep up. This was a nice, quick, escape read, perfect for the beach or pool. 3.5 stars!

This is your perfect holiday read. Three couples enjoying a hotel on a little isolated island. All there for their own reasons. Each complex in their own ways.
A read that will keep you turning the pages.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC

Guests may want to rethink staying at this particular establishment. Three couples’ lives collide while staying in a resort with 1920s-30s vibes. A body is discovered. Just who is responsible.
I like stories like this one. I was initially thrown because the description only mentioned one couple and then more characters were added, which made it somewhat jumbled to get all of,them sorted out.
I had my suspicions and it wasn’t until the very end that they were confirmed.
It’s a decent book to while a day at the beach..

Fitzgeralds is the hot spot hotel for three couples. Daisy and Tom, Sam and David and Becky and Josh. Each couple has their own reason for their holiday and when a member of staff turns up dead the three couples band together but this will be a holiday to remember for all the wrong reasons.
The queen of mystery strikes again. Another fantastic book from Sue. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Sue Watson was a TV Producer at the BBC until she wrote her first book and was hooked.
Now a USA Today bestselling author, Sue has sold over a million books and explores the darker side of life, writing psychological thrillers with significant twists. Originally from Manchester, she now lives with her family in leafy Worcestershire, where much of her day is spent writing – and procrastinating. Her hobby is eating cake while watching diet and exercise programmes from the sofa, a skill she’s perfected after many years of practice.

“Who knew what was around the corner for any of us?”

Sam and David are celebrating their honeymoon after a whirlwind romance leading to marriage. Sam is insecure, being older than David, and seeing how he reacts towards other women. But this is her happily ever after, and she will do anything to hold on to it. Becky and Josh are taking a much-needed vacation to celebrate life. And to relax and be together. Daisy and Tom are hoping this trip will be the end of a sad chapter and the beginning of a beautiful future. Many secrets are hiding in the sunshine.

I liked this book! The plot was good, I love how everyone had motive and opportunity, yet there were many redeeming qualities to make you like these characters.

I found the character development well done. Each character had strong quirks that made them stand out. I enjoyed how their stories were told, with twists of the last intermingled throughout.

The plot was engaging and fast-paced. I love that as I was attempting to work out the twists in my head, I was wrong. The build-up was so well done.

The island descriptions were beautiful. I could almost feel the unrelenting heat and hear the ocean. The resort was beautifully described, and I love how the description shifted as the story moved along.

This was a quick read; once I started, I could stop. I devoured this book in hours. I liked the alternating narrators and intermingled perspectives. It was so clever.

This is the perfect beach read!
