This was my first Susannah Nix! I enjoyed the story, reading made me want to seek out other books by her. I would have liked a little more depth to their relationship, but it was believable despite a crazy premise!

Lucky Star is a delightful read, who wouldn't want to run into their favourite Hollywood Star and have him fall in love with you? Boone and Eve are realistic characters with tons of chemistry. Right from the start I thought that they would be a perfect couple once Eve stopped seeing Boone as a real person rather than the heart throb she had been obsessing about for a long time.

Eve is very down to earth, kind and friendly and she really deserved the break when Boone asks her to help him by agreeing to be his fake girlfriend. Despite her fears she takes what is asked of her in her stride and is able to help to set his floundering career back on track. Boone is a nice swoonworthy guy who has suffered through an abusive relationship which has left him with no confidence when it comes to falling in love again. With her caring ways and support Eve is able to help him to realise that falling for someone does not have to be scary if it is the right person.

I finished this book with a smile on my face as Eve finally gets the man of her dreams. This is a great beach read, it has just enough angst and drama to keep it interesting balanced by lots of romance and steamy scenes. Though this can be read as a stand alone I think it is more enjoyable if you have read the other books in the series as many of them appear in Lucky Star.

Aghhh the slow burn the fake dating. Everything you want from books like the Love hypothesis, the Spanish love deception and more is in this book but even better with the best smut of course.
It’s literally a wattpad story turned to an even better published book.
Of course lucky start is part of a series but you can definitely read this on it’s own.
Tropes in this book:
Fake dating
Close proximity
He falls for her first
He takes care of her when she sick
Happy ending

In my opinion if a book has these types of tropes it’s a definite read for me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶🌶🌶🌶/5
Truly become one of my top 10 reads.

Book:Lucky Star
Author: Susannah Nik
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book was so good!! It is a celebrity romance, forced proximity, slow burn, fake dating!!

It starts with Eva who works at a coffee shop who sees Boone who is a huge movie star celebrity everyday as a customer!! They developed chemistry very quickly. I loved how they stared off as strangers and then became friends. Eva was a huge fan of him and never could of thought that Bonne would have any interest in her but little did she know he did!!

Overall this book was amazing!! It was an easy read!! It is part of a series called Starstruck series and the books can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend reading this series it was so well exceptionally if you like celebrity romance books!!

You can give me a fake dating trope with a dual POV any day and I’ll happily devour it!! And that’s exactly what I did with this book.

Lucky Star really surprised me in the best way. I really loved how quickly I was invested in this book. From 17% into this book, I could not put it down. What helped was that I got into the story line quite quickly. I didn’t really know too much about this book going into it but I didn’t have to wait long to find out which I really loved.

So now let’s talk about our FMC, Eve. I was a huge fan of hers from the beginning. She’s direct, doesn’t hold back on what she says and she’s just such a likable character that you’re cheering for from the start. Pair her up with the MMC, Boone, and you’ve got yourself a swoon worthy couple! He was such a great love interest and I loved his character development in this book. There weren’t as many chapters in his POV as there were for Eve, but I loved it every time I reached one. I was really rooting for them both!

This romcom definitely ticked all the boxes and left me with a huge smile on my face!! If you need a read to pick you up, this is definitely it. I hadn’t heard of this author before but I’m definitely wanting to go back to the other books in this series and read about the other characters we’ve met, especially Griffin and Alice!

Thank you Netgalley and author Susannah Nix for sending me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lucky Star is a fangirl's dream. Well, this fangirl's anyway. Who wouldn't want to run into their celebrity crush at the cafe they work at and have him ask you to be his pretend girlfriend to get the tabloids off his back? And then if you end up moving into his house and the pretend dating isn't entirely pretend anymore, who are you to complain? Eve sure isn't. She's been Boone's barista for a while but the day she finally gets to talk to him turns out to be one of the shittier days in her life - she's just found out that her boyfriend and roommate are having sex behind her back, so now she's out a boyfriend and a place to live. Fortunately, famous Hollywood star Boone Sheridan is in need of a wholesome "normal" girl to act as his girlfriend so the media will stop reporting that he's the one who broke up his costar's marriage. Eve can't quite believe this guy she used to be somewhat obsessed with even knows she exists and while she has her reservations about the arrangement, she agrees to help Boone out. Turns out that decision was the best one she could have made for both of their lives going forward.

I really liked this book, as well as both Eve and Boone. I was a bit nervous Eve would read as too much of a self-insert Mary-Sue but she definitely doesn't. She's a strong, funny, capable, and well-fleshed out character who's also really relatable and just overall very likable. The same goes for Boone. He could easily have been a more flat ideal version of a Hollywood hunk but because the POV of the book changes throughout, we get to see his self doubt and issues, and how he has unexpected layers to him. Eve and Boone's chemistry and banter work very well, and I absolutely was rooting for them to get together. Their conversations and progression of their relationship felt very natural and believable, and I had a great time reading this book.

Firstly I’d like to thank the publisher and Netgalley for the e-arc!! ❤️❤️

I LOVED this book!! 🥰🥰 It made me feel warm and all happy!! Boone is super swoon worthy and Eve is lovably cute and together they’re just perfect for each other ❤️❤️ The emotions between them are undeniably genuine and I felt really impassioned and involved with the relationship the whole way through the book.

It features so many of my favourite tropes, fake dating, forced proximity and it’s slow burn at the beginning had me begging for them to get together!! But what I love most of all is the amount of smut. It’s perfect for the story, it’s there and super enjoyable (if you’re a smut lover like me), but it’s not too over the top and it feels fluid with the story and not just dropped in there for no reason.

This book needs to be made into a film like NOW!! 😍😍 I just need Boone to be a real person!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For sure!!

Wowwowwow!

I loved everything about this! I was drawn in by the fake dating and the cartoon cover but I never thought I would be able to relate to a character so much!

Boone Sheridan is a tv hit wonder, but is in hot water when spotted leaving a co-workers house who is married. He needs a distraction for the paparazzi to follow before this rumour ruins his career! So when he finds Eve, a coffee shop worker, upset and vulnerable, he comes up with an idea of a fake dating situation. Only the more time they spend together, the more the lines blur from fake to real.

I am always drawn to fake dating, and when I saw the average rating was 5⭐️ I knew I had to! And I binged it! I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I had to stop reading!

I could really relate to Eve a lot with her anxieties and how she reacted to certain situations. But I could also relate and feel sympathy for Boone, being mentally abused by his ex and having to live life moving on from her. I just wanted to give them both a big hug!

I loved Alice and Griffin and really wish they were mentioned more! I really wanted to see their friendship grow!

I did also want to see what happened between Simone and her husband! I also hoped that her ex best friend and ex boyfriend broke up!

I would say my only complaint if that since it was in third person, it was a little confusing who was speaking and I sometimes had to go back and reread stuff but that’s just me personally!

I highly reccomend this book and I will not shut up about this book! It was so funny, sweet, steamy. I had so many oh shit moments!

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this arc in exchange on my honest review!

I read an arc of Star Bright and immediately went and bought Fallen Star and Rising Star. I asked for Lucky Star as soon as I saw it pop up on NetGalley as well. This series is right up my alley. I LOOOOOVE famous main characters in romance. They can all be read as standalone but the characters do pop up a little in each book.
Soooooo, Lucky Star might honestly be my favorite of the four. Boone and Eve were just so cute together. The fake dating was well done. I know it’s a super common trope but I thought it was blended well with the friends to lovers and instalove. The heavier topics were handled really well. Susannah had me all in my feels and then back to swooning! The spice was good, definitely an open door romance.

Absolutely would recommend the series to romcom lovers. They all have a good mix of funny, emotions, and steam!

Content warning: Boone, one of the main characters, is healing from an emotionally abusive relationship. We get peeks into his past, but it is not the main part of the book. Please take care of yourself if this is triggering.

Lucky Star by Susannah Nix was a fun celebrity romance. Susannah Nix's heroines are always spectacular and Eve did not disappoint. She hates confrontation, it makes her really anxious, but she absolutely stands up for herself when a toxic friendship falls apart. Go Eve!

We get representation of anxiety and a male healing from an emotionally abusive relationship. These things happen to people in real life. My jaw dropped when the ex-girlfriend's profession was revealed. She should be tarred and feathered!

Eve and Boone are meant for each other. It takes them a while to heal from their past traumas. But we get our happy ending!

I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I only realised after reading this book that it's the fourth in the series! What a fabulous read. I binged it in one day, I couldn't get enough of Boone and Eve.
Eve is having a crappy time at the beginning of the book but still manages to be really nice to everyone she meets.
Boone steps in with a favour to ask which could solve both their problems. I loved how nice and supportive he was even though he and Eve weren't actual friends in the beginning. They made very cute and sweet friends at the beginning of their relationship. I loved how honest they were with each other and that there were no surprise secrets to tear them apart later in the book.
I was expecting more tension or problems to pop up in relation to Eve's ex-boyfriend but all the angst and drama was centrally focused on Eve and Boone's own personal inner feelings and insecurities.
The author teases the reader with a lot of sexual tension and a build-up of romantic feelings. I loved the slow burn aspect of the story. It kept me turning the pages.
The earlier books in the series have now been added to my TBR. Alice and Griffin's story was alluded to in this book and it really caught my interest. Another character I liked was Chuck Hammer. He was funny and flirty and I hope the author gives him his own story next.

Susannah Nix is a new author for me and I really enjoyed this. Lots of heart, and swoon-worthy good smuttiness as well. I loved the way the book uses fanfic to amazing effect. I'm a new fan! I didn't realize this was the fourth in a series, but I would say that it worked just fine as a stand-alone novel. I can't wait to go through Nix's backlist and read more about these down-to-earth stars and their love interests!

Thank you to Author Collective 20, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Haven't we all fantasised at some point that we will meet our celebrity crush and they will fall deeply in love with us? That's the premise of this book. Eve was once Boone's number 1 fan and, when he starts to visit the coffee shop she works in, she can remember why. Then he makes a proposition, fake date to help boost his tarnished reputation and experience that fantasy life, even if it's just a fantasy ... until it isn't!

This author has a way of making you laugh while tugging at your heartstrings and giving you all the feels at the end.

I read it in 2 sittings, but only because lief dragged me reluctantly away. Otherwise I would have devoured it in one sitting like I do all her books.

5 star read.

🌟 Book Review 🌟

LUCKY STAR is the first novel I’ve read by @susannahnixauthor and what a great introduction — I love this story!

The fourth book in the Starstruck series, LUCKY STAR follows Eve Tracy, a Los Angeles barista, and TV heartthrob Boone Sheridan. Boone frequents Eve’s coffee shop every day for a cup of coffee, which Eve does not mind one bit since Boone is her celebrity crush. Even though Boone is her celebrity crush and Boone sees Eve every day, neither make a move on the other — in fact, outside of taking his order, the two don’t even really speak to one another. However, when a public relations disaster threatens Boone’s acting career and Boone finds himself having to clean up his image, he makes Eve an offer —pose as his fake girlfriend for the paparazzi for the summer. The one caveat — neither of them can fall for each other. However, as they spend more time with one another, attraction sparks between Eve and Boone. Will they keep maintain their fake relationship, or will they follow their hearts and pursue love?

I LOVE, love, love the fake-dating trope! There’s just something so… sweet and adorable about falling for the person you’re fake dating, after taking the time to get to know the person they’re dating. Here, Eve is in a situation that I think we’ve all dreamed about at one point in our lives — a celebrity crush asking us out. To see Eve live it out, and recognize Boone as a real person with real insecurities — I loved the story! I loved how real Boone seemed, and how Eve fought to remain independent throughout the story, how she made it a point to ensure Boone she wasn’t after his fame and fortune. Really, reading this story is like seeing my teenage celeb-crush-dreams come alive 😂😂 Perhaps this is one of the reasons I loved this book so much.

Thank you to @netgalley for the Advanced Reader’s Copy! LUCKY STAR is out on May 17, 2023 — make sure you preorder and get your copy ASAP!

I did not realize Lucky Star was the fourth book in this series so I will be circling back to read the previous books. As someone who lives for celebrity crushes, I really enjoyed this. Eve and Boone had fantastic chemistry and it was the right level of sweet and spice!

"Lucky Star" follows Eve, a college dropout working two jobs to try and make ends meet, and Boone, a celebrity actor whose life has recently come crashing down around him after a cheating scandal. While Boone's life crumbles to pieces, he finds a cute barista at a local coffee shop one day and continues visiting each day to get a glimpse of her and a small interaction. Nearly a month after his first visit, fate plays into his hands when the cute barista, Eve, crashes into him as she flees the store. Tears fill her eyes as she has just learned that her boyfriend cheated on her with her roommate. Eve confides in Boone and they quickly grow a connection.

As he connects with Eve, Boone considers the fake relationship his publicist demands and thinks Eve might be the perfect subject. Later that night, he proposes his plan to Eve and she happily obliges. However, their connection is electric and it takes everything from both sides to control their hearts and their heads as Hollywood's newest couple is thrown into the world of celebrities.

I loved this romance, mainly because it was the first time I have connected with one in a long time. I love reading romance as quick palette cleansers, but recently I've been struggling to feel the tension between the characters. In this book, I had no problem seeking out that tension because there is so much between Eve and Boone. They're constantly considering following their heads and hearts which causes them to resist their attraction to one another.

I thought their fake relationship was cute, but I especially loved how Eve fought for her career rather than immediately relying on Boone. This book has a 5-star connection between the characters, but I do, unfortunately, think it will be rather insignificant in a few months.

Nonetheless, I thought this was cute and did exactly what I intended it to in the grand scheme of things. I'm excited to continue reading more by Susannah Nix.

Make sure to wear waterproof mascara and have tissues nearby. This book made me cry so many tears. Happy tears and some sad tears.

Boone Sheridan is a TV star for a long running show. He's recently gotten into hot water with bad publicity with his co-star.

Eve Tracey is a part-time barista and preschool teacher as ordinary as can be. She's a big time fan of the show. So when Boone comes into her coffee shop on the daily. She knows who he is and tries to act cool.

One day he asks her out for dinner and to be his fake girlfriend. She accepts because it's Boone Sheridan. As they get to know one another things start to shift into something more.

I loved this book. I loved the character development of Boone & Eve. Their relationship and what they had to overcome. Loved the spice.

How I am loving this series!!! This is the second book in the series that I have read and I was surprised to find in the same universe characters with characteristics and stories so different that they caught me from the first pages
.
Lucky Star is a fake relationship romance between a young barista with two jobs and the star of a TV show who tries to keep a low profile in the off-season
.
Boone Sheridan barely leaves his home in Los Angeles during the summer break, willing to avoid the rumors that describe him as a home wrecker, he only allows himself to go for his daily coffee and see the friendly barista who respects his loneliness with a sweet smile
.
When rumors grow and his agent insists he get a girlfriend to put the rumors to rest, the nice girl behind the counter may be the only one able to help him
.
For Eve, serving coffee to her teenage crush every day is enough change of her daily routine. With two jobs taking up all of her free time, she didn't expect when her life got more complicated it would be the secretive Hollywood star to witness and offer her the perfect solution
.
Eve and Boone have great chemistry but without a doubt one of the things that I liked were the little details like the fact that the series was about monsters like Buffy and Eve wrote and drew fanfic. I like that Susannah Nix's characters have that possibility of growth and maturity of their fears by leaning on each other and being able to create their own unique balance making their romance really good built up
.
Thanks to Susannah Nix for give me a copy of this beautiful book in exchange for my honest opinion
