The writing was done so incredibly well. I loved the chemistry between Aspen and Matt. It was believable and so incredibly sweet...and a little bit of a mystery. Aspen and her sister inherit their great aunt's Bed and Breakfast. Aspen with her friend Matt's help wants to fix it up and sell it. Friends to lovers- Lakeside settings -Forced proximity - Home renovation - Fake dating. Great Story with likable and relatable characters. My favorite thing is when one of the characters is explaining when they first fell for the other person, and they use a true story from their friendship.
The Inn at Wild Harbor was precisely what I needed. Charm personified just like the delightful inn on the cover suggests.
Things are not going according to plan for Aspen. When her great aunt passes away and leaves her an inn on the beach she quits her job and moves back - only to find that her best friend's older brother lives there too. Talk about awkward!
As she tries to navigate running the inn and figuring out what she wants from life, Aspen demonstrates that what we think we want may not always be what we need.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the continuation of the series!
A nice clean read. Enjoyed the light romance. This was a nice beach read for me! Really enjoyed the story!
A sweet clean small town friends to lovers romance story. After losing her job and moving into her aunts b&b Aspen has to open up about her feelings for Matt whilst dealing with her photography career. Well written novel.
Cute romance as Aspen walks out on her job and moves in with her childhood family friend Matt. Aspen is dating a player and doesn’t see it, whilst Matt is the loyal friend and helps her out with the Inn she ends up running and the photography she wants as a job. Some good mystery as messages from beyond the grave arrive and the finances get harder and harder for Aspen at the inn.
Books like this make me realise again why I love reading, totally enjoyable with no hassles attached, loved it. A warm, uplifting writer to celebrate.
The Inn at Wild Harbor is a contemporary romance novel written by Grace Worthington. It is the fourth book in the Wild Harbor Beach series. It is not necessary to have read the previous books in order to enjoy this one, but I will admit to going back and reading all the previous books after finishing this one!
Summary: Aspen has had a crush on Matt since she was a teenager. But he’s her best friend’s older brother, and her best friend. Nothing could convince her to ruin that.
But when her life falls apart, and she suddenly inherits her great aunt’s inn (the one Matt lives in), things start to get a little more complicated.
Can she work closely with Matt to remodel and sell the inn without allowing her true feelings to show?
Does she even really want to sell the inn, and is it possible that maybe, just maybe, Matt has feelings for her too?
My Thoughts: I enjoyed this book. The characters are well-developed and interesting, there is a fun and unique story line, and I always enjoy a book set in a small town where you get to meet and become invested in all of the fun and unique characters.
This is a cozy and quick read. It has a nice romance (not too cheesy), and a good story line about working through what it is you really want in life-and fighting for it.
I would like to thank Poets & Saints Publishing for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!
This is a wonderful read that hooks you on the first page. It's a small-town friend to lovers with a touch of mystery. It's a beautifully written story that the author brings to life with her words, an absolute joy to read.
I received a complimentary copy from Poets & Saints Publishing via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
The Inn at Wild Harbor is the fourth book in the Wild Harbor Beach series. Personally I had not read the previous books in the series, and found that it read just fine as a standalone.
This was actually my first book by Grace Worthington, but it most certainly will not be the last. I always enjoy a friends to more story and this one was done so incredibly well. I loved the chemistry between Aspen and Matt. It was believable, and so incredible sweet... There was a little bit of a mystery added into the story, which always makes me enjoy the story all that much more. I will say that I had figured it out pretty quickly, but that didn't really impact my enjoyment at all... the romance was really the key part of the story. Overall, this was a fantastic romance that definitely has me wanting to go back and read more in this series! I'll certainly be looking from more from this author in the future.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
This was my first visit to Wild Harbor. I am charmed by its inhabitants. Typical small town busybodies add to the challenge. Friends to lover trope was well presented. I am eager for more and will go back to read the ones I missed. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.
On Grace Worthington's website, she claims she writes sweet romances, and she does. The Inn at Wild Harbor is a sweet read that engages the reader from the very first pages.
Aspen has been in love with Matt forever, but she believes he is unattainable. When her Aunt Lizzy dies and leaves her inn to Aspen and her sister, Matt continues the work he'd been doing for Aunt Lizzy in maintaining the inn and the grounds. Unbeknown to Aspen, Matt has loved her almost as long as she's loved him, but both do such a good job of hiding their feelings for the other, it creates a tough hurdle to overcome.
Aspen dreams of being a photographer and has submitted some of her photos at her job that get used without crediting her or remunerating her for them. When she reaches her tipping point of no longer being able to withstand the abuse her boss and the clients give her, she stands up, makes a general announcement to the rest of the office and walks out the door. One of the last things she sees before she leaves the office is an advertisement for a photo contest of "Hometown Heroes." Now that she has no income for the foreseeable future, she decides she wants to enter the contest, and her subject of choice is Matt. Getting him to pose for the picture is another challenge Aspen must face, but she does it with persistence and aplomb.
This is the fourth book in a series, but it doesn't read like a series--it can stand alone with no confusion for the reader. The setting had me confused at first, primarily because I didn't read the jacket blurb to know that it takes place in Michigan. It could be set in North Carolina, or any coastal state, and still have the same impact. Still the book is a sweet read that won't take up too much time for the reader.
Four Strong Stars.
