This is the first book by Rose Fresquez that I’ve read. In fact, before this book I hadn’t even heard of Rose. But I am so glad that I now have read a book by her, because I really enjoyed this book.
I’ve always loved second chance stories and this was a really fun one. I really liked the twists and the reasons why Bryce and Liberty first broke up. It isn’t cheating, which is something I don’t like to see in second chance stories.
I also really enjoyed the strong Christian elements. This book will definitely have an impact on people’s relationship with God.
It may have been my first Rose Fresquez book, but it won’t be my last. I’m keen to check out more books in this series.
This author's books are sometimes a hit or miss for me, but I really enjoyed this clean, christian interracial romance. Not gonna lie, at the beginning, I was having a really hard time liking Bryce and his mama can kick rocks ( I really didn't like her character and that is the nicest thing I can say about her.) I did appreciate Bryce's growth in the story, tho, so he did eventually became a redeemable character. I felt so sorry for Liberty through out the book because of the way she was treated, I came to enjoy the story.
I received a copy of the book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review of my own thoughts and opinions.
This is the 5th book in “The Caregivers Series”. Rose Fresquez has an awesome style of writing Christian base romances and “The Investor’s Wife” is an awesome read with a great plot. Bryce and Liberty are no longer together. Liberty had to get away from Bryce’s meddlesome toxic mom Wendy and she never informed Bryce that she was pregnant. Bryce is an investment broker. Liberty is a single mom with a business and baby that both demand her time. Bryce and Liberty’s friends have plans for the two of them when they are both invited to a cabin in the mountains for matchmaking. Neither had any idea that other would be there. Bryce’s only regret is that he did not fight for Liberty, he is still in love with her. Fate steps in and Bryce and Liberty are stuck together in the mountain cabin to work things.
Can these two former lovers work things out, how will Bryce feel when he finds out that he has a daughter that Liberty kept from him, will Bryce stand of to his mom Wendy? I am team Bryce and Liberty.
Rose Fresquez "The Investor's Wife" is an easy romantic read with a heavy hand of evangelical zest. This is a good read for a new Christian, maybe, or someone who engages in mission.
I enjoyed the characters, and their realisation that everyone bears responsibility in a relationship. However, the Christian moments seemed forced, as though written separately and then added to the story. They are like the volume on TV, which suddenly goes up for ads, then drops down for the programme you were watching. Rather than enhancing the story, they break it up.
I would recommend the book for the main story, but the dissonance with the religious segments is too great for me. That said, the blurb on Ms Fresquez's next romance seemed interesting, and I would be willing to give it a chance, hoping this was just a blip.
This was an even keeled , clean read with frequent references to the higher power and bible quotations that were uplifting and relevant in the chosen moment. I appreciated the tender understanding and self-reflection on the part of the wife whenever her husband missed the mark, and credit her approach for any transformation seen in him. Her exemplary behaviors are uncommon in real life so it was refreshing to read them. I enjoyed this read but if you are not spiritually inclined you may have misgivings about this book, because even though it did not come across too preachy, the frequent biblical assertions may not sit well with you.
A wonderful encouraging story with intensely real characters. Such a reminder of the value of seeing good in people and hoping for the best with prayerful consideration.
I’ve been following this series for some time and this book, like the rest, was enjoyable. From getting to know the characters to seeing the restoration … I really liked it and would definitely recommend.
Her name was “Liberty Solace”
That should be all I type on this review and most of reading friends would understand what I mean. But since it’s not just for my friends. I have to explain to you all that I have a strict rule. I don’t read books where characters have names that would not normally be names. It usually does not end well for me. It has only failed me thrice with the amazing ladies that are Katniss, Blue, and Tree!!!
Anyhow back to the review!
I can’t be the only person that’s screaming at poor liberty to PLEASE NOT GO BACK TO HER HUSBAND. Sure he is a nice man, he seems to love her and is honestly trying his best to be free of his mum. But in my opinion they would have to move to another country to get rid of that cartoonishly evil woman. That’s also my other issue with the book, the big bad is just a rich privilege woman that can’t let go of her son. Sooooo much that he has his girlfriend at the time THROWN IN JAIL!!! Like no sweet child! Noooooooo! Leave him, have him grow old with his mum. You take your kids and be happy without that bother
The Investor's Wife is the fifth story in The Caregivers Series by Rose Fresquez. We encountered Bryce briefly in Ms. Frequez’s previous book The CEO's Companion. He was struggling with his sense of self and seemed cynical about the role of God in his life plan. When we see him again, his life is even more off kilter. He is married to Liberty, but they are not together mainly due to mother’s constant manipulations. They have been apart for nearly two years, and he is longing to reunite with the love of his life. When their mutual friends conspire to bring them together at a secluded cabin, it looks like they may be headed towards a reconciliation. But not if his mother has anything to do with it! Liberty has spent the time apart from Bryce working on her spiritually and raising their young daughter. She has kept the child a secret from Bryce out of fear of how his mother will react. Will Bryce understand? Will he take her side for once? I have read several of Rose Fresquez’s books and always greatly enjoy them. This book is the first one (that I recall) where we encounter an actual “villain”. Bryce’s mother was both controlling and a bully. Her actions were divisive and elitist, and Ms. Fresquez allowed us to see that the face of evil can be subtle and insidious. We can also see that the people who say they love us the most can also do the most damage. I was happy when Bryce was finally able to find the strength to reclaim his family. As always, it is a treat to read this author’s lovely prose and take the journey of growth with her characters.
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing to me read this ARC for my honest opinion!
