Interesting and well written I just personally couldn’t get into the story. Definitely creepy. Just a little slow and unbelievable at some points. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this book! It hooked me from the very first chapter, and kept me hooked the entire time!

Perfect by L.A. Kessler has it all. This sci-fi/suspense/mystery/horror romance is fast-paced and action-filled.

The book tells the story of Juliet Huff and the discovery she makes on her 18th birthday about her "perfect" life. As Juliet discovers the lies that made up everything she thought she knew about her life, she finds how freeing imperfection can be.

I loved this book. The story is such a wild ride from start to finish and kept surprising me with every page turn, but the most surprising (and most fulfilling) is the amount of heart and hope that is packed into this story.

I can not wait to read books 2 & 3 in the Genesis Trilogy, and I am looking forward to seeing where else this story takes us!

The first chapter drew me into the story and I have to say, it was super creepy, and set the tone for the rest of the book. It was like such an unsettling feeling, wondering what sort of journey we were about to go on.

It was an interesting concept and I think the author did well with crafting it into an exciting and fast-paced plot.

I loved the contrast we got between Juliet’s sheltered life and Bill’s one in the outside world. It allowed us to see how the two characters are different and how they learn to adapt and see the world.

Juliet’s parents were bloody creepy!! The way her momma kept calling her ‘perfect girl’ was so unsettling.

Overall, a creepy, and thought provoking read. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something different.

They run smack dab into Billy’s truck. Billy takes them to his house and Juliet tells him what has been happening to her and her “sisters”. They work with Billy’s best friends to bring the Genesis group down. Will they ever give up Juliet and her sister because they will never be “ perfect “.

Sooo good. Secrets, suspense, and an evil group of people trying to make “ perfect “ kids. I don’t know what to say without giving anything away. There is a slight cliffhanger, at least to me.

I didn’t want to put this one down. I read it all in one sitting. What a rush.

From the title and description it is obvious that this is a thriller. Perfect by L.A. Kessler is that and a scary one at that. Not exactly horror but one that is believable so that is what makes the whole cloning, discard imperfections plot so frightening. Could this be happening somewhere in real time?

Juliet Huff’s life is one that is observed, controlled, and used as a science experiment. The outcome of the Genesis Foundation may seem to some to be a medical breakthrough. However, it is also set up to serve the wealthy at the expense of real children. This can’t turn the pages fast enough thriller has young people lives at stakes and the ones standing up to expose the truth.

While the conclusion seems to be come to a satisfying end, the overarching theme comes hauntingly back. Part of me can’t wait to read the next book in the series while part of me wants to close my eyes like you do in a frightening scene in a horror movie. What happens if the scientist decides to test if the perfect ones healing completely and faster? What kind of abuse will they endure? Not in this book but could it be in next? Like I said this borders on horror but could easily move more in that direction. Start reading today, you won’t be able to put it down or close your eyes either.

There is honestly nothing that I disliked about this book. It was different than my usual and I loved all the good characters 🥺 Billy>>

This is a mystery book and I really felt like it was a bit YA too. I wouldn’t say to go out of your way to read this unless you enjoy YA!!

The ending was a beautiful wrap up and I would love to see this book be turned into a movie! 🫶🏼

Page turner for sure! L.A. Kessler has reopened the door on how well do you really know your neighbors, your friends and even your own family?

Billy Manning, Juliet and Julie Huff learn quickly that the price of freedom means finding truth and answers in the most unlikely and troubling of places. Between trying to live her freedom to the fullest, Juliet is faced with protecting her sister and ensuring they never return home. Unlikely friendships and even a touch of government conspiracy, make this story whole. I highly recommend this book!

I absolutely love this book and clearly got absorbed in the plot. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. If you’re looking for an intricate story with great characters, look no further!

All killer no filler!

This book was a adrenaline rush from start to finish. At first after I acknowledged I needed to suspend all rational thought and belief I was sure I was going to rate this one 3-4 stars just for the ridiculousness of it all. But somewhere around the last part of the book this book kicked me in the butt another time after doing it time and time again and it's five stars and I'm going to defend it.

Spoiler free synopsis: Juliet and her sister Julie-eight are are "perfect" human beings. Their mom and dad have kept them hidden and locked away from the world for 18 years for Juliet and she has never been sick. Never had a pimple. Never had a bruise. Because if she did she would be killed for not being perfect. But she finds out that she is part of a project called the Genesis project and she is to be "preserved" on her 18th birthday as a celebration of her being the firsts in the Genesis project to reach 18 years. So she breaks free and runs into Bill Manning, a boy who she happened to meet years ago for just minutes.

What follows is action packed as bullets start flying, people start running, and hackers start hacking. It's twist after twist and revelation after revelation. There are other authors this would massacre this book but what sets this one apart is character development and pacing. L.A. Kessler nails this book. I loved every character here and each one had a distinct personality. We love Juliet and her "cloned" sister, Bill Manning, and his friends Todd, Zack, and Cindy who are all helping them survive.

Action packed but with characters you are rooting for so much at the end that you are literally hanging on by a threat. This is just great suspenseful fiction and I plowed through it in a day. It's so over the top but I really can't find anything other then that to take away points for. The writing and dialogue is top notch...... The character development is great, and the action was on par with any other book out there. And the ending to set up book 2...... Bonkers!

So if you are looking to clear you mind, suspend all belief, and just go on a ride read this book.

Calling all fans of "Stranger Things," this is a book for you! "Perfect" is the story of a girl, Juliet, who is locked in a house for her entire childhood so she can never get a scrape, a bruise, or sick. Why? Because her parents kill their children if they aren't perfect. As Juliet becomes older, she begins to realize that there is more going on than living with overprotective parents. She longs for a life outside and starts to investigate what is really happening in her home.

This story involves conspiracy, secretive government agencies, and of course a love story. The book ends on a cliffhanger, as it is part of a trilogy, which left me wanting more. I can't wait for the next book to come out so I can find out what happens to Juliet! The author does an amazing job making you fall in love with her character. Overall, this is an engrossing, original, read that will keep you on the edge of your seat and questioning everything!

A quick and easy read with a creepy and dark atmosphere. Well written with a compelling storyline and well developed characters. It is fast paced and tense with a cliffhanging ending that has left me wanting more.

𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 by L.A. Kessler kept me on the edge of my seat. It follows Juliet through her life of perfection - she’s never had a cold, a scrape or a bruise. She was made to be perfect. And she was kept inside her house to ensure she stayed that way.

Juliet’s researcher parents have been striving to create the “perfect” child so no parent would ever have to lose their baby again. Juliet is that child. Her parents have achieved what was once thought impossible through cloning.

Now, as Juliet approaches her 18th birthday, she learns she will be 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘥 in her perfect state. A testament to all of the hard work her parents put into her creation. But Juliet wants more - she wants a life, and she can’t stop thinking about the boy across the street she met on her ninth birthday.

Juliet was an easy character to grow to like. Her childhood was traumatic and dark, and unrealistic expectations were her normal. She knew the fine line she walked - if she had so much as a stuffy nose she wouldn’t live to see the next day. Just before her 18th birthday she finds an opportunity to escape and takes it.

This story was filled with conspiracy, cloning, secret organizations and scientific experiments and truly keeps the suspense building. You never knew what the next moment held for Juliet after her escape, and the ending? An incredible surprise and cliffhanger!

I had no idea this book was the first of a series, and while this typically isn’t a read I would go for, I’m looking forward to how the story continues.

A Sci-Fi Thriller!! Yes Please!

Perfect by L.A. Kessler did an admirable job writing this book.
I thought the pacing of the action was great.
There was just the right amount of tension building up throughout the story.
Gripping, tense and thought-provoking… I raced through it.
I enjoyed the characters in this novel and thought Kessler did a wonderful job.
Reading Juliet's story was a phenomenal experience.

This was neat! I read the authors note and she mentioned this not being her usual genre and being a bit hesitant - but she could have fooled me, this was interesting! Clones give me the heebie jeebies, and that ending - freaky. Excited to start the next one!

A thriller with heavy sci-fi elements and some romance! This is book one in a trilogy. There are some trigger warnings that should be noted. There is child abuse and infant deaths. The first half of the book is NOT for people with body dysmorphia or for people who are easily triggered by body image.

Juliet is a girl who is kept inside the house and never let outside. Her parents talk about being physically perfect constantly. They do everything they can to avoid any kind of skin blemish. She sees her the neighbor boy ride his bike to and from school everyday, and one day, she meets him in person. She finds out that her parents are planning to kill her and immortalize her perfection forever on her 18th birthday. She wants to live, so she plans to escape. Just one problem - she has a sister.

This was a fast paced book. I love sci-fi thriller/horror anything so I enjoyed this! I will say that I found the mother to be a bit eccentric in the way she mistreated her daughters. There is romance, but nothing explicit. There oddly wasn’t a lot described about the science portion of the story so that left me wondering.

For people who don’t like cliffhangers, this was mild without the epilogue. The epilogue is where the cliff really…hangs. Skip it if you don’t like big ones.

This is a very interesting book, blurring the Sci-fi/thriller lines.
Very fast paced, and easily read in a single sitting. Plenty of suspense and well written characters. Only bummer is that it is the first in what appears to be a trilogy, so now I have to wait 😄
