What a fun story! The illustrations are cute and eye catching. I love that you get to see many different kinds of animals, and many animals that are not often depicted in children's books. The reader also gets to learn about different animal habitats.
"Room on Top" is a cute children's book about a little anteater who spends his day riding around comfortably on his mother's back. Children and parents alike, especially parents experienced in having their children climb all over them, will enjoy the adventures of the little anteater as he meets new friends while exploring the world around him,
In the vein of books such as Jan Brett's "The Mitten," author Bruno Hächler uses a soothing, repetitive rhythm to portray the little anteater inviting more and more friends to ride with him on his mother's back--until everything gets wobbly! Illustrator Laura D’Arcangelo uses slightly muted colors washed over the pages in large blocks to bring to life the cartoonishly friendly animals that will delight young children and their caregivers.
I liked the cover of the book. The story, not so much. Room On Top's description was interesting and that's what drew me to read the book. But after reading it, I just felt a little empty since it didn't quite make me laugh, and it didn't seem to have any plot.
The illustrations to me were just too busy and I couldn't make heads or tails of each animal. The animals looked like scribbles on the page that had no definitive lines. Some other readers will probably appreciate the artwork, and story, but I did not. Two stars -- it was okay.
I received a digital ARC from North South Books. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
A short, cute read for kids. Really enjoyed it, the drawings were clean and the expressions on the animals were funny. Writing was simple and could see it as a good nighttime read.
Thanks to Netgalley and NorthSouth Books for a free digital copy.
What a comical tale of a little anteater trying to share his very cozy ride on his mom's back with all his friends. The ending felt a bit disconnected and I was missing a more solid conclusion, but overall a cute book.
Cute and cute and cute. Sometimes I can't handle the cuteness of these books for young readers.
Well, regarding this book it's a short one filled with animation like colourful artwork. I appreciate the inclusion of some animals as the book introduces these animals to the target audience. The illustration is the highlight of this book I would say! The story gets a bit chaotic though towards the end.
Thank you, North South Books Inc, for the advance review copy.
This was a cute, repetitive story about a young anteater making friends and them riding on the mama anteater. The illustrations and story were cute. It would be a great book for young kids.
This was ridiculously cute and perfectly lighthearted. I’m always on the hunt to find my nephew more books and this is one I’ll have to purchase for him. The designs of all the animals are adorable and exceptionally well done. Each new animal friend that accompanied the baby anteater on his mamas back was adorable in their own way and had me wanting to give them a big hug.
Little anteater love sitting at mama's back but he feel lonely, so it invites another animals to ride together.
It is an adorable picture book about animals with poetic way. But I found the plot kinda repetitive, but kids will love it.
Thanks Netgalley for the copy.
Room on Top is a funny and silly story about a little anteater who loves his mama's back more than all. But other animals also find comfort there, would they all fit together? I liked reading it, but it wasn't enjoyable enough for me. Kids will definitely love this, tho!
Room on Top was a really fun book with exciting illustrations! A little anteater invites all his other animal friends to join him on his mom's back. I loved the variety of animals, this would be great for any age child who loves animals!
