After years of watching Paul Hollywood on the Great British Bake Off, I’ve wanted to try one of his recipe books. When this book came up for review, I leapt at the chance and I was not disappointed! I’ve tried a few of the recipes and they all turned out wonderful, something rare for me! The selection is all foods I love or would love to try to make and the recipes are all easy to follow. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves baking!

Like most people, I'm familiar with Paul Hollywood through The Great British Baking Show, though I feel like I've mostly heard about his expertise when it comes to bread, so I was curious to see his other recipes.
First off, this was a super quality digital file, and I really enjoyed the layout of the cookbook. It's quite simple and clean, with measurements in cups/weights. EVERY recipe has a photo--the gold standard!--and several also have some step-by-step photos as well. The book is divided into six sections, and there is a good mixture of sweet and savory bakes, which I really appreciated! For the most part quite classic flavors, and while there are obviously a lot of vegetarian options, there are essentially no vegan or gluten-free recipes, which is not at all a surprise, just something to note for those with restrictions. This definitely isn't a strong personal touch IMO, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as sometimes I just want a cookbook and not a lot of touching stories.
I've got a ton of the recipes bookmarked and am excited to make them--this is definitely a cookbook I'm happy to have picked up!
I've Made:
Cheese Crackers - I've made a few different cracker recipes and this is the first one I've made with no liquid, and the technique was super interesting! The texture of these was really light and unusual--I enjoyed them, though it's not my most favorite cracker recipe.

I was really excited to get a copy of this book to preview. I love watching Great British Baking. I can't wait to try some of these recipes that he showcases in this cook book!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

My husband and I binged The Great British Baking show during lockdown so we are both well aware of Paul Hollywood. He is the tougher judge and clearly knows his stuff. My husband is the baker of the house so I knew he’d want to try Paul’s recipes. My husband was glad to see that the ingredients are listed both in cups (more for beginners like me) and grams. He prefers to bake with grams since he says that’s more exact.
There are a variety of recipes and not everything is sweet which is nice. My husband and I have bookmarked three recipes that we have been looking to try but wanted a trusted source for the recipe. After that we have a few more marked that just sounded amazing. There was one dessert my husband said would take some practice (I don’t remember which off the top of my head but I believe it was one of the cakes) so I know my husband will enjoy making the easy recipes as well as trying more challenging ones!

This is a fantastic cookbook for bakers of different skill levels! You can always count on Paul Hollywood to offer useful tips and tricks. The cake recipes are especially delicious. Be sure to try the classic Victoria Sponge and the Cherry Almond Cake!

I became a fan of Paul Hollywood while watching The Great British Baking Show and was excited to see his cookbook, especially the chapter on breads. This did not disappoint! While many recipes in this book aren't ones I'll be making (I don't use animal products), there are still quite a few I'll be trying out! Most of the bread chapter is on that list! The accompanying color photographs are well done and encourage the home baker to try the recipes. Some illustrative photos are included as well to show techniques. Certainly one to check out for any home baker!
Thanks to Bloomsbury USA and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

The newest cookbook from celebrity baker, Paul Hollywood! More delicious recipes from him including of course, lots of bread. There are other things though if bread seems daunting like cakes, cookies, desserts, etc. Lots of delicious sounding recipes. I'm definitely picking this one up when it comes out.

I love to bake and I love the Great British Bake Off, so I jumped at the chance to review an early copy.
Paul Hollywood may best be known to Americans as one of the judges on the Great British Bake Off (or Great British Baking Show on this side of the pond), but he has over 30 years of expertise, starting with learning how to make bread at his dad’s bakery as a kid. In this cookbook, Paul gives us classic recipes that he has refined and perfected over the years.
First and foremost, every recipe has a full color photo and everything looks absolutely delicious. Most of the recipes do not seem too difficult and the more complicated ones, like New York Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake (yum!) and croissants (yep, they’re in here too!), have step by step photos of Paul making them. The numbers in the pictures correspond to steps within the instructions so they’re very easy to follow. Any time I got to a recipe I knew was going to be difficult, there was Paul, showing us how it’s done.
It’s not all desserts either. You’ll find recipes for pizzas and savory hand pies, as well as an extensive section on bread, that includes types of bread from all over the world like naan, focaccia, tortillas, pitas, maneesh, and chapatis.
Whether you’ve seen The Great British Bake Off or have never heard of Paul Hollywood at all, I think this cookbook is fantastic. I can’t think of many (if any) desserts that are not in here. If you’re a baker, this is something you should use as a reference. I will be using this often, for sure.
Thank you to Bloomsbury Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to view an early copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I'm a huge Great British Bake Off fan, and avid home baker, so I had to check out this latest cookbook from Paul Hollywood. It does not disappoint! Disclaimer: I'm in the midst of a kitchen renovation project, which means baking is off the table for me right now, so I have not yet personally kitchen tested any of these recipes. (Although there is one no-bake recipe, I'm just not sure I can pull it off in my makeshift non-kitchen.)
This cookbook was a delight to read, and in many ways, a trip down GBBO memory lane. GBBO fans will recognize many past signature and technical bakes. I love Paul's stories and tips sprinkled throughout. The food photography is well done, and where there are tricky steps, there are extra pictures. Recipes appear well laid out and well written, and a big shout out for metric weights on ingredients! It really is a beautiful cookbook filled with British classics plus some others Paul has adopted from his travels.
This cookbook would make a great gift for any Great British Bake Off fan.
