This was so adorable ! I enjoyed this even more than the ex hex ! Super fast paced and bingeable. Yes, the witchy elements are as hallmark as the first book, but I don’t expect differently from a rom com. Super adorable read and i cant wait for more in this series !

Another Penhallow brother is in town, not just for a visit, but to stay. Wells Penhallow, Rhys’ older brother sets up shop next door to Gwyn Jones’ and the two could not be any more opposite. Except for one incident with a mistaken love spell that draws them together. This magical sparring becomes flirty banter that neither can deny. So a truce has been decided. When Gwyn’s magic begins to fade, the two of them team up to solve the mystery, while also developing romantic feelings for each other?

Ok, so I definitely enjoyed this one more than THE EX HEX purely because I loved the characters more. It was fun to be back in this world, and the contemporary witchcraft that ensued. Very reminiscent of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Charmed, THE KISS CURSE was the perfect mix of humor, romance, and magic.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley. A huge thank you to Erin Sterling, Avon, Harper, and Netgalley.

If you’re wanting for a great fall read this October, look no further! The Kiss Curse is a delicious sequel to Erin Sterling’s The Ex Hex, following Gwyn and her purr-fect feline friend Sir Purrcival. Tasked with keeping an eye on Graves Glenn while Vivi and Aunt Elaine are away AND running the family shop on her own, Gwyn has her hands full. When a new coven set on making Graves Glenn home for their dark magic blows into town and a new competing shop opens up across the street, she finds help in the most unlikely of places.

The Kiss Curse is packed with witty banter, fluff for days and a ton of badass girl power.
Erin Sterling delivered us another perfect story to read while cozying up next to a fire in a cabin this fall, (or in your break room at work, whatever you’ve got available). We asked for a book about Gwyn, and were given a tension filled small town enemies to lovers with a side of pumpkin spice.

My only complaints with The Kiss Curse are that it felt like a very close repeat of the Ex Hex, she did not reinvent the wheel with this story in any way. The Kiss Curse follows the same general storyline, involves the same two main families, and has all the same tropes. My biggest issue with this story, however, was the switch in Gwyns character. In The Ex Hex, Gwyn was witty, spunky and offered great wlw representation. In The Kiss Curse, she's the same lovable Gwyn, but I think we lost a great opportunity for that wlw representation when she fell in love with Rhys’ older brother. I was hoping for a story about Gwyn and Jane's journey, not a repeat of Vivi and Rhys (I mean, literally Vivi’s cousin and Rhys’ brother. It doesn’t get closer than this.) To me, that kept this from being a 5 star read.

This was a super cute, fun, fall read and I really enjoyed it! ⁣

Gwyn and Wells are rivals and their banter is hilarious and sexy at times and I was here for it. It had me laughing out loud at their witty humor. ⁣

I adored the ‘’baby witches’’ and loved how Gwyn took them under her wing and helped them blossom and how much they looked up to her.⁣

There was definitely some drama between the darker witches and concern that Wells was out to get her and her store, but watching them go from enemies to friend to lovers was a fun ride!⁣

I loved all the witchy talk of tarot cards, potions, a talking cat, and magic crystals.⁣

All of these spooky-themed romance books are hitting right now! I love the Christmas/holiday-themed ones so having ones centered around Halloween is a blast. I loved The Ex Hex so I was so excited to dive into The Kiss Curse. I could read a million of these spooky, funny, sexy books. Give me more!

I loved reading The Ex Hex last fall — it was just spooky/cozy enough to get me in the mood for Halloween — so naturally I looked forward to the second book!

The Kiss Curse is really fun and perfectly witchy. This book started off really slowly for me, but it really improved at the halfway mark! It took some time to get past the "I hate you and I don't know why" vibes but once Wells and Gwen started working together to "solve the mystery," it was much more enjoyable. Wells is the perfect grumpy hero. I feel like he really found himself when he moved to Graves Glen. (The small town setting in Georgia with the school and the history of magic is perfect for fall reading.)

The plot was really entertaining and kept me on my toes! That said, it didn't feel properly paced and really dragged in some spots while wrapping up too quickly in others.

I also really loved that the third act conflict didn't revolve around Gwen and Wes! Once they admitted their feelings for each other, it was clear that they were strong in their relationships. Also the spice was fantastic.

And as a bonus, the baby witches and Sir Purrcival were an excellent source of humor throughout the novel.

Thank you to @Netgalley and @Avonbooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book stole the show, it’s so cute and I’m gonna shout it from the roof top!

Things I liked
-Sir Purrcival is back and he is the star. He is the moment. He is the icon. He talks, he has humor, and he has an obsession with treats. I imagine him as if my cat could talk so that’s why I’m obsessed.
-Cat obsession aside this book had such a great plot. There was world building, new characters, and further development of precious characters. I think everyone who criticized the lack of world building in EX HEX will like this one!
-There was minimal spice but it was good and I only wish there had been more!! These two characters lusted after each other so much I wanted them to be able to act on it more. I really enjoyed their reluctant allies to friends to lovers story line. Was in fact rooting for them!!

Things that made me🤨
-The family tree is SUS. The book is about Gwyn (Vivi’s cousin) and Wells (Rhys’s brother). Vivi and Rhys are married. Like is that ok? I guess so since it’s not blood relation but at least it was addressed in the book and they made jokes about it!

Overall, put this on your fall TBR for a fun witchy read with a cute love story, a fun plot, and a cute town setting (and a talking cat)!!

Thank you @netgalley and @harpervoyagerus for my copy!!

OMG we get Gwyn’s story! She was so funny in her cousin Vivi’s book, I knew I was going to love this one. Now that we know that their ancestors are the ones carrying the magic in the town these woman are living their best lives. I seriously love the humor in this book, its literally everywhere on here. Anyway, Gwyn is running the shop all on her own, and of course we have Rhys older brother Wells, coming into town to annoy the crap out of her, I knew that this enemies to lovers trope was going to be awesome. Add some magic, a little mystery, a ton of humor, romance and a few steamy scenes and we are GOOD! Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This paranormal romance picks up about a year after the events of The Ex Hex and features spirited Gwyn and devastatingly handsome Wells. I adored Gwyn in The Ex Hex, so revisiting the cozy small town of Graves Glen to read her story was a lot of fun! And I think I liked this one even better than the first.

Enemies to lovers romance, baby witches, Halloween vibes, snappy dialogue, a dash of danger, and some steam made this the cute Fall rom-com I've been craving lately!

The dual POV, fast-paced story with an entertaining plot, kept me turning the pages. New lovable side characters like baby witches (who get into some shenanigans) and old faves from the first book populate the story with paranormal charm. But then, there's a scene-stealing talking cat. All treat, no trick!

If you're looking for a spooky season romance, you'll want to add this to your tbr when it publishes on September 20, 2022.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon & Harper Voyager for the opportunity to review this ARC. I really enjoyed it!

This book was truly delightful. I enjoyed it even more than the first - I think she's really found her footing with these characters and this world. It made me laugh out loud multiple times, and I loved Wells' and Gwyn's dynamic. Can't wait for the next one!

In this fun follow up to The Ex Hex, we follow Gwyn Jones and oh-so gorgeous Wells Penhallow as they prepare to take on a group of witches in Graves Glen. Oh, and they also have to try and deny the feelings they are having for each other.

I was so excited to read this, as I LOVED The Ex Hex. And I was not disappointed. This was exactly what I needed to begin spooky season.

The banter between Gwyn and Wells was SO GOOD. It was the reason enemies to lovers is my favorite rom-com trope. I was laughing so much! The spice level of this book was perfect. I think I'm in love with Wells Penhallow now. And of course, the magical small town vibes are the cherry on top of this deliciously witchy read! I can't wait to add this one to my shelves.

Thank you to Avon, Harper Collins, and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Holy shit. Show-stopping, amazing, incredible. As a Halloween girlie (it's my absolute favorite holiday, hands down, not even close to any others) I loved The Ex Hex when I read it, and HAD to give this a try. When I say I never regret a halloween romance...this book confirmed all of my appreciation for Erin Sterling and made me add her to the list of automatic reads, meaning I'll read anything she writes. This book had all the spooky vibes for halloween, the perfect "oh no I like them" realizations, and was just the perfect fun and cute read for spooky season. Can't recommend this enough.

You've got a cartoon cover style romance, a little spice, spooky season, and an enemies to lovers? Sign. Me. Up.

I really enjoyed that this was a cozy, low stakes read. Sure, there was drama, but this book honestly gave me the warm and fuzzy fall vibes I needed to accept that the weather will be changing soon. Erin has a particular talent for setting the scene--I could picture every detail of the Raven and Crown in Wales, Gwyn's quirky store Something Wicked and Wells' magical apothecary. I felt like a resident of Graves Glen, watching the characters as if they were my neighbors. Wells had me swooning--but then again, I love all of the Penhallow brothers, and I'm really hoping we get a third book about Bowen. The plot got predictable at times and it seemed like Gwyn and Wells flipped from enemies to ...interested super quickly, but overall I enjoyed it. This was a very quick read and well worth the wait!

Oh, and Sir Purrcival the talking cat was EVERYTHING, as always.

I think I might love Gwyn & Wells more than Vivi & Rhys, but it was Sir Purrcival who really stole the show!

In all seriousness though, The Kiss Curse is the perfect blend of spoopy season vibes and romance, and was the perfect start to my Halloween reads! I was obviously sold on the enemies-to-lovers romance between Gwyn & Wells, their banter is fantastic and there's so many great lines in this book!

This was just fantastic! Thank you Netgalley & Avon and Harper for the arc!

A fun, light, and charming follow-up to The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling! This book was such a perfect intro to Spooky Season and I was thrilled to get an ARC! I loved The Ex Hex so much, and while this book felt a little rushed in certain areas of the plot, I loved getting to know Gywn and Wells and going back to Graves Glen for some delightfully witchy, Halloween vibes!

Things I liked:
- enemies to lovers
- small town
- a group of adorable misfit baby witches

Thank you to @Netgalley and @Avonbooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A sequel that’s just as good as the first book! We come back to the same characters we met in The Ex Hex, this time focusing on Vivi’s cousin, Gwyn and Rhys’. brother Wells. Witchy rivalries, magical mishaps and new characters make for a delightful romantic romp.

This book was an awesome companion to Erin's The Ex Hex. I loved Gwyn's character in the original story but getting to know her so much better in this new book was just such a blast. When reading this book I get all of the Sabrina vibes, not the creepy Sabrina but, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. If you thought Vivi, and Rhys had a funny story, this is even better.

Wells' grumpy attitude and Gwyn's very open and honest personality seem to play off one another in such a fun way. Sometimes the harder you fight to now want something, the more you absolutely have to have it. Wells and Gwyn find themselves being heavily drawn together after a mysterious box of pink glitter falls on top of the pair from the store room which causes them both to instantly be PHYSICALLY drawn together, more like MAGNETIZED.

Meanwhile, something weird is going on in the town. There's a strange presence and the pair can't help but feel like it is their responsibility to figure out what's causing it. But will they be able to figure out how real there attraction is to one another ?

Such a great read and I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to be able to read this before it's release !

True rating: 3.5 stars
I love all things Fall, including books with a fall feeling, setting or timeframe so I was happy to hear that The Ex Hex was getting a sequel and it would be published during my favorite season. I loved the character of Gwyn and enjoyed her getting the spotlight in this second installment in the series. The "baby witches" added some hijinx. The returned frenemy storyline had me going back and forth as to whether it was nefarious or not. The plot really came together in the last quarter of the book which felt like the ending was a bit rushed and certainly seemed open to the possibility of a book three (which of course I would also check out).

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyage for The Kiss Curse ARC for review purposes. It publishes on September 20th. All opinions are my own.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.

While book one was fun, I feel like The Kiss Curse failed to recapture the same magic for me. My standards already weren’t super-high, but even with that in mind, this one felt very bland.

Gwyn’s character is the one saving grace of the book. There’s been a lot of Discourse in some reviews because she was portrayed as queer in book one. Well, she’s still queer here, even if she ends up with a guy, and I feel like you can be sad about the ignorance of f/f relationships on a larger scale within trad publishing (something that is actually changing) without taking it out on queer m/f pairings, which are also heavily stigmatized and misunderstood.

I also really liked seeing Gwyn in her magical element, training some young witches. While the magic stuff is still very much “developed as the story goes along,” it’s quirky and fun, and I love seeing the characters interact with it.

But Wells…did we really need another Penhallow brother as a hero who happens to have animosity with the heroine? As much as I will defend the right for Gwyn to be with a man in theory, I just didn’t care for him. I also felt their romance wasn’t anything special…no real sparks at any point. I was mostly neutral-to-“they’re kinda cute” where Vivi and Rhys are concerned, and Wells and Gwyn can’t even measure up to that.

And it’s such an oddly paced book. I don’t expect a ton of plot from “romcom” books, but given there is some sort of paranormal presence, I wish that part had been developed a little more. The “Big Bad” shows up really late into the book, only to be defeated very quickly and anticlimactically.

This book was ok, but it just didn’t work for me for the most part. I do feel that if you’re more of a fan of the paranormal romcom style, you might like it more than I did.

This is a story about a little bit of magic.

I really liked this! The witchy vibes were a great addition to my seasonal reading & I loved getting to briefly visit the characters from book one. While everyone here is great, Sir Percival the cat is the real MVP here!

Thank you so much @librofm @netgalley & @avonbooks for the e & audio copies!
