Okay, so listen... I was OBSESSED with the Ex Hex last year. Vivi and Rhys gave me so much life and I loved reading about Gwyn, so when I found out this book was about Gwyn I HAD to have it.
I hate that I'm even saying this (but not really, cuz wow) but this one was even better than the Ex Hex to me. It starts as enemies to lovers when "Equire", "Wells" Penhallow comes to Graves Glenn and arrives home right in the middle of an unannounced to him bachelorette party in his family home and face to face with Gwyn, who makes it known right away she hates him. The only issue is Wells has no idea why. They start an immediate feud of sorts and it just takes off from.
This one was so funny and the enemies to lovers was real here. I cannot wait to add this to my collection on release day because its just perfect for fall. The perfect comfy fall rom com.
The Kiss Curse is the follow up to The Ex Hex, and centers on Gwyn, Vivi's cousin, and Wells (Llewellyn), Rhys' older brother.
Overall, I'm rating this one 3.5 stars rounded up. Gwyn and Wells have chemistry and the romance element is pleasant but their enemy to lovers back story is weak at best and the "bad guy" sub plot felt half done and slapdash. Also, it bugged me how much Gwyn harped on Wells for having a large and well used vocabulary.
All that said, I enjoyed the book and am glad I received an advanced copy. It was pleasant and would be a nice read in the fall to get in the Halloween mood. I will certainly pick up a sequel, and I'm hoping it will center on Bowen, the lady Penhallow brother.
Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for the electronic ARC of this novel for review.

I thought this was an extremely cute book. Given I haven’t read book 1, The Ex Hex, I can happily say you can enjoy this one without reading the first because the premise of book 1 is touched on. Since I liked this one, I will go back to read book 1 to see if I missed anything.
I really liked Gwyn and Wells as characters, however, I wish we got to know them and their connection a little better. They did have solid personalities and I liked their dynamic. As for the plot, it had a great start but I think it slowed down a smidge much in the middle and then things were rushed towards the end. I don’t know if there needed to be more conflict or investigative work in the middle to really amp up the climax of the story or something else.
The 3 Baby Witches, as Gwyn calls them, were probably my favorites in this story and I hope to see more of them in the future.
I received an eARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
The second book in Ex-Hex series follows Gwen as she is thrown together with Wells Penhallow when he moves to town unexpectedly.
Gwen was great as a side character in the first book and I found her just as charming and lively as the protagonist. It took me a little to warm up to Wells but their banter drew me in. They had some lightly spicy scenes and solid chemistry.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyed being back in this witchy, quirky small-town which has cozy, fall vibes.
I find that I often give four stars to romance books I love because they're not as deep and life changing as my other five-star reads, but in terms of romance novels this is perfect, so it's getting five.
The Kiss Curse follows characters from the Ex Hex, Gwyn (Viv's cousin) and Wells (Rhys' brother). It has the same fun halloween vibe as the Ex Hex and honestly follows a very similar formula as Vivi's and Rhys' love story. It addresses Gwyn's bisexuality, and has a diverse cast of characters (relative to the genre at least). As a lesbian do I wish Gwyn had ended up with a woman? A little bit. Will I get over it? Yep!
This series is so cozy, it offers the same comfort as curling up on the couch every year to watch Halloweentown. You're dropped into a familiar place and story, then given a beautiful and believable romance. The dialogue is snappy and funny, and had me laughing out loud. "...and Gwyn had no doubt that whoever he was, his ancestors had absolutely once stared down the business end of a guillotine. You didn't get cheekbones like that without oppressing some peasants." I MEAN..LMAO.
One of the best things about it, and one of the things that most often turns me off of romance, is that the sex scenes, while quite spicy by my standards, AREN'T CRINGEY!!! THANK YOU!!!
Anyways, I don't know if there's another book planned in this universe that I love so much, but I hope there is. It's impossible not to fall in love with Sterling's side characters (like the baby witches). If there is another, you'll see me here again.
Thanks so much to Avon Books and NetGalley for the digital ARC!
The second book in The Ex Hex series, The Kiss Curse, is Gwyn's story. Ever since they were in college, Gwyn has harbored a grudge against Wells Penhallow, her cousin's new brother-in-law. When he unexpectedly moves to Graves Glen and opens up a shop across the street from her own, Gwyn is forced to face him head on. Sparks fly, but there's a sinister new presence in the town that seems to be jeopardizing Gwyn's own magical abilities. This book is a great follow-up that could easily be enjoyed as a standalone novel.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I like the magical spin on contemporary romance that Erin Sterling does. It definitely separates her from the rest and adds elements we don't see in other books, because let's be honest, sometimes contemporary romances get very repetitive. With that said, I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It was a cute quick read and perfect for the upcoming fall season (my favorite!).

3.5 Stars!
It would be slightly easier to stay annoyed with her if she weren’t so damned beautiful.

Overall, The Kiss Curse was a great read. Funny and kooky and romantic, a welcomed sequel to the hugely popular The Ex Hex. In that first book, Gwyn Jones was a wonderful, vibrant side character and truly shines here as the leading lady. No wonder Mr. Wells Penhallow couldn't resist her.
The rivals-to-lovers trope was in full effect with Wells and Gwyn, as they become competing business owners in the small town of Graves Glen, Georgia, where history and tradition and magic rule. Both stubborn by nature, it was hilarious to see their romance evolve. They grew to communicate and understand each other in a way that may not necessarily be conventional, but it certainly worked for them. In fact, Wells and Gwyn's reconcilation in the final chapters had some of my favorite dialogue in the entire book.
Getting to see more of Rhys and Vivi was also nice. Similar to The Ex Hex, they were also adorable here. No surprise there.
Admittedly though, the plot was a bit thin. Since the book was very character- and romance-driven, I did keep waiting for the drama to kick into high-gear. To me, it seemed like much of conflict resolution is being saved for Bowen's book (and seemingly the last in the series). Which is fine. It just left this middle installment feeling a bit underwhelming.

Graves Glenn is like a spooky Stars Hollow that I love spending time in! This book was soooo cute and fun and perfect for fall. It was fast paced, funny and just adorable.
I liked this book more than the Ex Hex, and can’t wait for the next one in this series!
Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins and Avon for an arc of this book!
“What girl doesn’t love a good grovel? I think I’ll even film it on my phone.”
This book was an absolute delight to read, and just flat out funny! I felt like The Kiss Curse gave me everything that The Ex Hex never did. I had such a great time reading about Gwyn and her baby witches, and Sir Purrcival has once again made me want a talking cat (what I would literally give for my own talking cat). I also felt like this book gave me a different perspective/opinion of Rhys and Vivi than when I read their book. Also, I remember saying something awhile ago about how the sequels are always my least favorite book in the series, but I completely take that back now cause I’ve been reading a lot of great sequels. (Thank you Netgalley and to Avon and Harper Voyager for this arc in exchange for an honest review.)
I read this sequel because I really enjoyed The Ex Hex, which is still the better of the two. I like Gwyn and Wells, but I wish the plot itself had been better fleshed out. The supporting characters are hilarious. I will happily read any additional books in this series.
The book started of really good, was interested in Allison's grad school assignment and life. But then her ex just happens to be in the same program, interested in studying the same line of work. And he seems endearing, but there is a big secret why he broke up with her?
Just okay for me.
this book is a follow up to The Ex-Hex, where we follow more of Gwyn’s journey. This would best be read after The Ex-Hex, but would work as a standalone as well. Gwyn and wells have family grudges so this is an enemy to lovers trope. Its obvious from the beginning these two don’t actually hate eachother. Super cute sequel, and I look foward to the next book in the series!

As always, I loved the effortless banter between all the characters. I went into this expecting a similar feel to THE EX HEX and although it felt a little slower than that one, it was still amazing. I loved Gwyns character in both books and glad we got to see how Vivi and Rhys are doing :) this book just made me feel good and it was just as funny as the first! I did think that the “conflict” in this book was kinda all over the place compared to THE EX HEX and so I was kinda lost for a bit but it made sense at the end. Loved this book! Thanks to netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange for my honest review!

I wasn't the biggest fan of The Ex Hex, but I enjoyed it enough to give this one a shot. I'm really glad I did. I think Gwyn and Wells work a lot better as a dynamic. And the enemies to lovers is pulled off really well. It's also really funny and whimsical, and a quick read. My only concern, something I felt with The Ex Hex as well, was that it was less quick paced and more rushed. But, it was still an improvement and quite enjoyable.
When Llewellyn "Wells" Penhallow volunteers to leave his pub in Wales to help reestablish his family's magical connection to Graves Glen, he decides to open a shop right across the street from Gwyn Jones' witch shop. Gwyn is not thrilled about the competition. She only recently and very reluctantly accepted Rhys Penhallow as a member of her family, and she is not a fan of the Penhallow family, including Wells. But when a strange new coven moves into town, Gwyn and Wells team up to try and stop them from taking control of the magic in Graves Glen. I loved this sequel to The Ex Hex. It kept the same light and funny witch romance theme of the first book but had many surprising twists! I loved the characters and how they grew to respect and love each other! Grumpy-sunshine is one of my favorite romance tropes, and it was excellently done in this book! Also, who doesn't love a talking cat named Sir Purrcival?
A lovely sequel to The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling. I love Gwyn and was thrilled to see Sir Percival return. Llewellyn Penhallow was a loveable stiff from the first moment he was on the page. I liked the chemistry between the two characters and enemies to lovers trope is one of my favorites. The end felt a little rushed to me, but overall would recommend for fans of book 1. I do think this is a book where you need to read the first one to get the most out of it.
It starts with a grudge and ends with two people finding their soul mate. Wells Penhallow returns to Graves Glen to strengthen and re-establish his family's magical connection to the town, which throws Gwyn’s life out of whack when he opens a competing store right across the street. Gwyn, who has spent her entire life in Graves Glen, now has a grudge, a crush, and a "friendly" competition. Not to mention she’s slowly losing her magical abilities.
This was a cute, fast, and light read. It follows the Ex-Hex where we read Ryhs and Vivian's love story. There was more romance in the storyline than witchy paranormal activity. The only thing I wished for was that all the climatic events didn't happen at the same time. It felt like the author remembered at the last moment to include the climax, which coalesced with it all taking place in the last couple of chapters.
This is just a closure point for me, but I also wish that Wells got to know who the girl with the purple hair was. It would've felt satisfying in the end.
If you're looking for a cute, fast read that's more romance than witchy, this is the book for you.
Thank you, NetGalley, and Harper Collins/Avon, for an eARC of this book.
An even mix of cozy mystery, urban fantasy and romance, this is another fun and lightweight read from Sterling. The hero is hot, the heroine is beautiful, talented and gutsy and the danger, while real, is quickly dealt with. A good beach read.
