This book gave me "The Night Circus" vibes. I loved every minute and was "spell-bound" by the wonderful romance that had you on the edge of your seat (Just kiss already)! Highly recommended!
Hijinks and humor continue in this follow up to The Ex-Hex, where we get to learn more about Gwyn. I think this would best be read after The Ex-Hex, but would work as a standalone too.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was super super cute. I think I actually enjoyed it much more than the first book in the series, although the “big bad” wasn’t completely solved. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Erin Sterling's The Kiss Curse is a fantastic follow up to The Ex Hex. Gwyn and Wells have family grudges, a past encounter and competing businesses--of course they hate each other. Right? This was pretty much exactly what I wanted. It's obvious from the get go that they don't actually hate each other and to see those walls and preconceived notions fall away is delicious. There's a few misunderstandings sprinkled in between funny standoffs and steamy encounters. And Sir Purrcival is perfect, like always. An excellent read, I can't wait for more of this series!

I loved Wells and Gwyn.
In author Erin Sterling’s witches parlance “Rhiannon’s Tits” What a great couple…”Oh My Goddess”!
The wit, the heat, the magic - it’s all there.
Sir Purrcival the talking cat and Gwyn’s minions, The Baby Witches, round out a great cast of characters.
The heartfelt apology/declaration/ “grand gesture” actually got me teary eyed.
The Kiss Curse was even better than the first book in The Ex Hex series, so Bowen’s story will be awesome - can’t wait.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sick of pulling pints at the family pub in Wales and tasked with strengthening family ties in Graves Glen, Llewellyn "Wells" Penhallow rents the storefront across from Gwyn Jones' tourist trap, Something Wicked. Gwyn holds something of a grudge against the eldest Penhallow brother, because of Wells' absence at Vivi's and Rhys' wedding and a poor first meeting years before in college, and Wells' relocation does little to improve her opinion. But when a new coven moves into town and Gwyn's magic starts acting up, the pair have to work together to save the town and each other, while battling the growing attraction between them.
The Kiss Curse is a good follow-up to The Ex Hex, and many beloved characters make appearances, like Vivi, Rhys, and (especially) Sir Purrcival, who has learned plenty of new words since the first book. Gwyn is a delightfully fun leading lady and Wells is a good match for her. As a queer woman, I was happy to read a story with a bisexual woman as the main character, and with another major character who uses they/them pronouns. I also enjoyed seeing more interactions between the Penhallow brothers. I would give The Kiss Curse five stars, but there were moments where I grew bored and the climax felt very rushed. However, I enjoyed reading The Kiss Curse and I believe fans of the first book will enjoy it, as well.
Thank you Avon and Netgalley for an ARC.
I loved this one! I wasn’t a super big fan of The Ex Hex, but this one really stepped up it’s game and was romantic, funny, and entertaining. I also really loved the atmosphere and the town of Graves Glen, plus getting to see Vivi and Rhys again while learning more about Gwyn and Wells. Gwyn was such a badass main character! I loved her relationships with Sir Purrcival and the “Baby Witches” as well. Her relationship with Wells was super sweet and I loved how the complimented one another so well. The storyline was also fresh and entertaining! I highly recommend this one, even if you weren’t the biggest fan of The Ex Hex. Thanks to NetGalley, Avon Books, and Erin Sterling for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
I received an ARC through Netgalley, and it did not disappoint. I absolutely adored The Kiss Curse, and the fall vibes it gave. Gwyn is left to watch over Graves Glen, and its new inhabitant, Wells Penhallow while Vivi and Rhys are traveling, and Elaine is out of state. Things start to get complicated when a new coven of witches make their way into town, and Gwyn's magic is on the fritz. I loved Gwyn, Wells, and Gwyn's Baby Witches working together to try to fix Gwyn's magic. The chemistry between Gwyn and Wells was top tier and perfectly executed. The only thing I wish Sterling had done differently is I wish Wells realized Gwyn is the person he remembered from his time at the university. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for tropes of enemies to lovers, fake dating, small town romance, with slight suspense. I really hope this isn't the last we see more of this world.
I was so excited to get approved for this Arc! I loved The Ex Hex last fall and was not disappointed with this follow up. Sir Purrcival, the black talking cat is still everything! I loved Gwyn’s sassy/witty attitude in the first book and was thrilled this book was focused on her. I wish there would have been just a little more action/adventure. But overall it was a fantastic fast paced read! I hope the series continues with Bowen! 😉
4/5 stars

The Kiss Curse was such a good sequel to The Ex Hex. I really enjoyed the first book but I think I liked this one even better now that it had a more developed plot.
To be honest, I didn’t love “The Ex Hex”, but I was quite taken with both Gwyn and Wells, so I was curious how their story would play out.
This book was a complete level up from The Ex Hex. It was like Charmed meets The Craft but also way sexier if that makes any sense at all to anyone but me 😂. Gwyn is the ULTIMATE heroine! She’s this unapologetic, sassy badass with a giant heart and a sarcastic sense of humor and I just LOVED her! Wells is like this proper gentleman who’s swoony and mysterious and just a touch of a grump. They’re total opposites and often at odds, but the two of them together are straight magic (pun ABSOLUTELY intended).
Speaking of magic, I LOVE the witchy elements of this series! I felt that this book had even more magic and it was SO GOOD! This book left me with the feeling that the story isn’t over, so I can’t wait to see how it plays out, and I’m assuming hear Bowen’s story?!?!
I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager. All opinions are my own.
I deeply, deeply enjoyed this! Follow up to The Ex Hex, it was just as sexy and magical as the first. Delightful! Thanks for the ARC @netgalley !
I loved Erin Sterling The Ex Hex. And The Kiss Curse was just as amazing!
The Kiss Curse is a spellbinding, witty, amazingly charming story!
The characters were simply amazing - all of them so real and complex, down to the smallest supporting characters.
The characters were adorable and fun. Cute and hot, you can’t help but fall a little in love with them.
The setting so atmospheric. The plot and writing was very satisfying and I throughly enjoyed every bit of this story.
The chemistry between the main protagonists, made me smile and swoon so much.
Also the story was fun and moved along nicely, this was a magically feel-good story!
This is the perfect fall romantic comedy. Witty, laugh out loud funny, clever, steamy, just freaking remarkable! The Kiss Curse will be delightful fall-themed read!
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Avon,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I will post my review to my platforms, blog, B&N and Waterstone closer to pub date.
Described as Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls, which I think is a perfect description. This is definitely perfect for those of us who loved Halloweentown as kids but now as adults are looking for something a little more relatable….and spicy.
Gwyn Jones is happy in Graves Glen. She, and her mom, and her cousin Vivi are now powering the town with their magic, her shop is thriving, and she has started to mentor a group of “Baby Witches”. The only problem is Wells Penhallow. Wells has returned to Graves Glen to start over and open a witchy shop of his own. But after going up against Gwyn, he realizes he might be in over his head. When the arrival of a mysterious new coven coincides with the disappearance of Gwyn’s magic, Wells and Gwyn team up to discover what the town is up against now. Can they deny the chemistry between them?
The good: This was so fun and a perfect holiday read. I definitely like the grumpy-sunshine dynamic over the lovers-to enemies- to lovers of the last book. I think that Gwyn and Wells are delightful. And honestly, I would read an entire book about Sir Purrcival.
The bad: I wanted a little more relationship development between Gwyn and Wells to be honest. This book was face-paced so I get it, but it felt a little too like ‘insta-love’ for my taste. I liked the bi-rep, however we are definitely missing any other representation. I also think there are a couple small plot holes that I don’t want to spoil, but they don’t necessarily detract from the story overall.
Overall: This was a fun, fluffy, comforting holiday read. I think this was even better than the Ex-Hex and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a cute witchy rom-com.
CW: sexual content, blood, swearing, alcohol
I received this as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This story was a lot of fun, just like the first one! I loved getting to know new characters, but I also loved gaining a better understanding of old characters.
4 stars because the ending was only so-so for me. Others may love it, though!
I love these books. As someone who is not a typical rom com reader, these are perfect. I love Graves Glen and the perfectly spooky–yet cozy–atmosphere. I loved Gwyn and Wells even more than I loved Vivi and Rhys–though I also loved seeing Rhys and Vivi MARRIED. The book was perfectly paced and has just the right fantasy to adventure to romance ratio. I hope we get 10 more of these books. These books never fail to put a smile on my face and I reread them year round.
I loved the Ex Hex and this book was so much better! It had some slow parts but more than made up for it!
I enjoyed The Ex Hex last fall so much, that I was excited to read the sequel, The Kiss Curse. I enjoyed that it was focused on Gwyn, the cousin. I was hoping for a continuance of the relationship that was started in the first book between Gwyn and Jane. Gwyn has a new love interest in this book, it was spicy. I felt that this book didn’t flow as well as The Ex Hex, the plot picked up in the almost end of the book. Regardless, it still was a fun read! Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest feedback.
Ahhhhhh I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it! This has all the same vibes of the first one, but with my favorite characters at the forefront. This was the sequel we were all hoping for. I loved every minute of reading this book. Gywn is so sassy and snarky and I found myself tabbing this book over and over because her lines were so funny. I loved it. Every minute!
