This book was super cute and cozy, and a perfect fall, witchy read. It felt like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and You Got Mail had a baby- and who doesn't love those two things? I enjoyed this sequel a lot more than I liked The Ex Hex. Gwyn is a fantastic main character. She is vibrant and funny and I loved the grumpy/sunshine vibe she had with Wells, who managed to be both uptight and hot at the same time. I thought it was going to have a predictable plot, but it actually surprised me. If you enjoyed the Ex Hex, I think you will LOVE The Kiss Curse.
This was a perfect book for spooky season and Halloween! It reminded me so much of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. This one had even more magic in it, and I thought the plot was a lot stronger than The Ex Hex. Definitely recommend this if you’re a fan of Halloween and witchcraft!
Love, love, love, love, love! Erin Sterling's follow up to The Ex Hex is The Kiss Curse. Just as wonderful as the first installment in this series! We follow Gwyn and Wells, and going back to Something Wicked. Just love this town, the coven, the shop! All of it!
Loved this new romance by Sterling. She has succeeded in creating a cozy town and cast of characters that her audience can't help but fall in love with. The chemistry between the hero and heroine is great in this one, making the reader root for the couple.
The perfect sequel to a perfect first book. I mean it was so easy to fall back into this world and back in love with these characters. It's so funny and witty and just makes you feel good. The perfect book to read for the fall/winter season. A comfort read for sure.
{Thank you @avonbooks for gifting me this amazing book!} If you are craving an adorable, cozy, witchy rom-com this month, then look no further and go pick up The Kiss Curse! I adored everything about this one. Gwen and Wells had fantastic banter and I love how they were drawn too each other despite their opposite personalities. There is a little bit of mystery in this one and honestly I didn’t see the twist coming! And of course the talking cat makes a reappearance and is just as fantastic as ever! Pick this one up if you love enemies to lovers, Halloween, and small town romances!
A sequel that really held up to the first book!
I loved the further we got to delve into the town and the world building in this book and I am more than happy to have gotten to read two of my favorite character's from the first book's love story!
The cutest - I love Erin Sterling and this series always gets me in the mood for spooky season. Gwyn is feisty!
If I never see the phrase “Rhiannon’s tits” again in my life, it will be too soon. I had to fight to read this book. Truly, if it wasn’t a Netgalley arc I would’ve DNF’d it. The witchy, fall, Stars Hollow vibes gave it one extra star.
There was no tension, Gwynn’s initial dislike of Wells is childish and nonsensical (one icy conversation over a decade ago, ONE TIME.) They kind of annoyed each other, then flirted a tiny bit, then boom ✨spice✨ and boom love. Where was the tension? The chemistry? The pining? A fun romance should be a fun romance. But give me SOMETHING beyond a “spellbound” kiss and some slight passive-aggression. There was nothing of note that happened before the first 60% of the book.
I loved The Ex Hex and really don’t understand the sentiment that The Kiss Curse was the better book!
The Kiss Curse is a sequel to The Ex Hex, which I loved! I wanted more of Gwyn and Erin Stirling delivered! Gwyn is such a badass character. Her relationship with Wells was so cute! Their little banters made me laugh. But honestly, the real star of this book is Sir Purrcival. Nothing gets better than a talking cat!
Overall, I loved this quick read and the storyline.
Another fun and witchy read from Erin Sterling! I’m really loving this series and can’t wait to read more about this adorable Georgia town! The characters were a lot of fun and the pace of the novel was quick and entertaining! Thank you netgalley for my free ARC!
These are such a cute seasonal read! I enjoyed this one more than the first. Excellent choice for fall and the romance elements are always the perfect amount of sweet and spicy.

VERDICT: a cute, light, & fun banter-filled enemies to lovers, forced proximity, workplace witchy romance + a magical mystery + all the small town fall vibes!
Honestly, I thought the book was a little cheesy at first, but as the story unfolded I fell in love with it. Loved the banter between all of the characters. It was steamy, funny and entertaining. I was a little disappointed that there was no epilogue. The ending felt a bit rushed and I was hoping for a last chapter tie in. But that was my only complaint.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon/Harper Voyager for sending me an unedited eARC of The Kiss Curse in exchange for an honest review.
I was really excited to get Erin Sterling's "The Kiss Curse", sequel to 2021's "The Ex Hex", just in time for spooky season! I didn't think I could enjoy the Penhallow snark and wit more than I did in the first book, but Wells came to play and I loved it. Gwyn was one of my favorite parts of the first book and I loved seeing her get to have her spookily ever after moment to. With the book ending on a bit of a cliffhanger, I can't wait to see what Stirling has in store for "werewolf brother" in the follow-up, "The Wedding Wish", expected to release just in time for spooky season 2023!
The Kiss Curse is the sequel to The Ex-Hex, and it’s the perfect Halloween romance for 2022. Gwyn Jones is pissed when Wells Penhallow moves to town and opens a new store in direct competition to her!
She remembers hating him in college and now she needs to watch her potential customers stroll into his store across the street. Their competition with each other grows along with with their attraction. But soon they notice a new coven in town and they have to work together to try to fix Gwyn’s magic.
Erin Sterling (Rachel Hawkins) - you have done it again! I adored The Ex Hex, so I was thrilled when I was given an advanced reader copy of the sequel, The Kiss Curse. Although it came out last month, I saved it so I could read it just before Halloween (for some extra cute spook), and I’m glad that I did. Not only do I want to visit Graves Glen, but Gwyn was a fantastic side character, and is now an even better main character! And Wells? Also fantastic. Five stars!
Thank you to Netgalley & Publishers for access to an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling
When a mysterious coven of witches comes to town Gwyn’s magic starts to fade and she is forced to team up with her arch nemesis Wells to figure out what’s going on.
What is has to offer:
🔮 Magic
💋 Romance
🔥 Steaminess
🥊 Enemies to Lovers
Quick thoughts:
✨ Some parts made me lol
✨ Loved the reserved guy/spontaneous girl matchup
✨ Magic feels very natural
✨ Some unexpected twists
Fun, witchy and jam packed with romance, this is the perfect lighthearted read for fall.
Overall thoughts:
📝 The story flowed nicely; however, it felt like the beginning moved a bit slow and could potentially be a little off putting. Stick with it though, the second half of the book really picks up!
🔮 The magical elements are really well developed and for the most part the magic came off as warm and practical.
💋 This is a romance at its heart, but there’s also a mystery playing out at the same time. There are twists and turns with the mystery but the romance stays solid throughout which was nice.
🔥 There is a little bit of steaminess in this one that was nicely executed and felt appropriate in the story.
🥊 I laughed out loud at a few parts of the enemies to lovers conflict that plays out. Also, the enemies to lovers unfurls at a nice pace and doesn’t drag out.
💜 I really loved how lighthearted this book was and how quick of a read it is.
📚 This is a follow up book to the Ex Hex but you could read it without having read the Ex Hex.
If you’re looking for a fun, fall read this would be a great pick!
I thought the first one in this series was cute and fun for a fall read, if not a bit cheesy at times. I loved Gwyn in the first book so I was excited to read about her but found this one was pretty similar. I enjoyed the characters and of course the idyllic fall setting and Halloween vibes. I definitely think this is a great book for those who want those aforementioned Halloween vibes and witchy fun without being scared so I would recommend it to them.
4.5⭐️ This book was so good! I loved the vibes this book gave off and how perfect it is for the fall season, but at the same time it can be read at anytime of the year. This book has magic, witches, and a talking cat, what else could you ask for. This was a romantic comedy with magic and great characters. The book had a grumpyish male man character which is the best! Gwyn and Wells were so cute and I love them so much! If you want a fun read I would definitely recommend this book!
