From the blurb to the beautiful cover, it looked like I would enjoy this cozy mystery.
I never read any other books in the series and I did feel as though I was missing out on some stuff. But usually that's not a real issue. It comes with the territory.
Anyway, nothing in it made me feel hooked to the story. I wish I had felt more engaged because the whole Christmas and knitting vibes were really cool.

This was the first book in this series I’ve read and it was easy to read as a stand alone. I loved the friendships and the New England setting and definitely want to go back and read the backlist.

Sally Goldenbaum has a new fan!! Although this is the 5th book in the Seaside Knitters Society mystery series and the 16th book with the Seaside Knitters, this is my first book read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I don't knit, nor do I do any other crafts but I love a great cozy mystery and this one certainly is that. Lots of wonderful characters I want to learn more about, along with a surprisingly intricate mystery that kept me guessing.

Next, I'll be starting at the beginning, with the first Seaside Knitters mystery, Death by by Cashmere. I can't believe I missed the Seaside Knitters books all these years. I really enjoyed this one and have a lot of books to look forward to.

Highly recommended to cozy fans!!

Everyone should have a closeknit group of friends and this multigenerational group is the perfect example of just that! I love that the books put the stories together by viewing aspects of the case through the different eyes and perspectives of the core group of friends. Add in great food, lots of yarn activities, daily life and love and you have the perfect recipe for a wonderful afternoon submerged in this seaside town. In this case, an old friend of Nell's has come for a visit and has found himself embroiled in a murder investigation, but will one of the town's beloved members be found guilty of murder or is someone more sinister behind the mysterious events! I love how the mystery is woven throughout the daily lives of each character with each part equaling one incredible story! I can't wait to get back and visit this group of ladies and their families again soon!

I really enjoyed visiting with the Seaside Knitters at Christmas time. The characters feel like old friends, and the mystery was multilayered and very interesting. My attention was held from the first page until the last. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Many thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

A Dark and Snowy Night by Sally Goldenbaum is the fifth in the Seaside Knitters Society mystery series but the 16th with these characters and setting continuing from the Seaside Knitters series. The town is getting ready for the holidays. First up is an exclusive event in the new home of Mayor Beatrice Scaglia, which has the townsfolk outraged since they expected the entire town to be invited. The festivities come to an abrupt halt with the death of the second wife of Ben and Nell Endicott’s college friend, Oliver. Izzy, Birdie, Nell and Cass join forces once again to solve the crime and clear Oliver.

The author paints a vivid picture of the small New England seaside town and the townsfolk who have strong and heartwarming relationships, which appeals to all of the reader’s senses. The mystery is well-developed with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.) I really connect with these characters making this one of my favorite series and I am already anticipating the next book!

My rating: 2 of 5 stars, it was okay.

Book 16 in the series.

As a knitter, I have been a fan of this series from the beginning. I just had a hard time connecting with this one. The character list felt a bit bloated and the constant POV switches kept me off kilter. I found myself having to re-read chunks to figure out who was talking or being talked about. I also found myself switching to read something else fairly often. I got there in the end, but it certainly wasn't the most enjoyable of the series.

I do enjoy the regular Seaside Knitters and the setting, so I will continue to read the series.

A Dark and Snowy Night is book #5 in the Seaside Knitters Society series by Sally Goldenbaum.

Another enjoyable visit to book friends At the Seaside Knitters Society in Sea Cove. Trying to see if the two mysteries were related kept my interest and kept me guessing. I recommend this book and the whole series.

Thank you to the author, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Super enjoyed this one! It was a pretty involved and suspenseful mystery, but I also felt it was very gentle; very golden age of mysteries. The mystery was good, as were the newly introduced characters. This very much made me wish it was Christmas already!

The town of Sea Harbor is getting ready for the upcoming holiday season and the Seaside Knitters are as busy as ever. Izzy’s store is lively with people needing yarn of all sorts to finish their projects, while Cass has finally settled into a routine with the nanny she has hired for baby Joey. Molly is adored by the baby, has exquisite culinary skills and fits in perfectly in Cass and Danny’s life until she leaves without warning.

The talk of the town is the upcoming holiday party at the mayor’s new home, which this year happens to be invite-only much to the chagrin of many townspeople. A celebrity chef has been hired to cater the affair, which brings to town an old college friend of Nell and Ben’s, while Birdie has an unexpected visitor who is looking for help in making a new venture possible. Instead of the food being the most memorable part of the party, it ends up being the untimely death of the celebrity chef.

The Seaside Knitters still spend their Thursday evenings knitting at Izzy’s shop, but now they have more pressing issues to discuss, like who is responsible for the death of the chef.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #Kensington #ADarkandSnowyNight

I love reading books about knitters and knitting groups that also have a mystery to solve.

The Seaside Knitters are so much fun and I wish I could be a part of the group, as long as I don't die. I love the different characters and have followed them since the first book in the series Death by Cashmere. I have even perfected my reading and knitting while reading this series, lol!

I highly recommend this series for those of you that enjoy a good mystery with knitting too! I will warn you this series will make you hungry, Nell is always cooking and her food sounds fabulous!!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read and review this story.

A Dark and Snowy Night by Sally Goldenbaum
This is a long running series and this one is only my second book by this author. I have to say pretty much the same thing about this one as I did about the one I read a couple of years ago. It was mildly entertaining but it didn’t grab me to such a degree that I plan to go back and read the rest of the series. There is such a huge cast of recurring characters that it it is hard to keep them all straight. I realize that might not be such a problem if I started the series with book one.
Also, the big surprise about the handsome angry young man was not much of a surprise.
Thanks to Netgalley

A Dark and Snowy Night is the 16th book in the Seaside Knitters Society Mystery series and my second.

The Seaside Knitters Society, Nell, Cassie, Birdie and Izzy, are friends in Sea Harbor, Massachusetts. The main characters in this novel are mum and co-owner of the Halloran Lobster Company, Cassie Halloran, and Izzy Perry, mother of a toddler and current owner of the Sea Harbor Yarn Studio. Nell Endicott is Izzy's aunt and a retired company director and Birdie Favazza is an octogenarian. When a body, a renowned chef, is found in the snow at the Mayor's invitation-only Christmas party, the Seaside Knitters search for answers.

Although I have not yet read most of this series, I had no difficulties keeping up with characters and events and it worked for me as an individual story. The four women have a brilliant friendship and the great cast of characters, including the townsfolk, and strong friendship bonds, helped to zhoosh up this winter cozy. I was sold on this compulsive story from the very beginning, and Sally Goldenbaum really impresses me with her fluid writing. The details of the plot were very well-executed, the story was fun and every chapter left me with a compelling need to read on. This was an intriguing yarn, the elements of a good mystery - red herrings and measured pacing –skillfully applied to a community of delightful characters, thus creating a captivating tale until the very end.

It was a very good cozy and I am looking forward to reading book 17, as well as the others from the series. If you adore a great cozy mystery, don't miss out on A Dark and Snowy Night!

This review was written voluntarily and my rating was in no way influenced by the fact that I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel from Kensington Books via NetGalley.

During Christmastime, the Seaside Knitters are dealing with the death of a friend’s wife, the chef who was hired to cater the mayor’s holiday party. Suspects come to light as the Knitters start investigating. Could it be the husband? Or the wayward relative? Maybe it’s the nanny? The Seaside Knitters are on the case.
This cozy mystery placed me in a holiday mood as I curled up on the couch reading. The plot was very puzzling and kept me guessing until the end. The characters were fun to read about and I enjoyed them. I was confused with all of the head hopping. I’m not used to a multiple POV for a cozy mystery. Lastly, I felt it strange that there were aspects of the mystery that wasn’t revealed to the reader when they were related to the sleuths. Usually there is an unspoken pact between the author and the reader about the revelation of clues. I felt that was a little unfair. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this advanced reader’s copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.

I wanted to love this book so much because of the cover and the title and everything! But it fell short for me, in all fairness I feel like it had nothing to do with the actual plot or writing and everything to do with it being a part of a series. I haven't read the other books in the series so I feel like the characters were so well developed already and their relationships solid that I felt really confused at parts. I feel like if I went back and started the series from the start this would have been more enjoyable.

I have read each and every book in the series and I love them all and enjoy all of Sally's characters. It's a must read very relaxing and enjoyable and when you find out the ending its most amazing how each of her characters plays a part in the mystery how each one finds the answers to their questions in their own way. The title lives up to whats inside the book

Though A Dark and Snowy Night is the fifth in Sally Goldenbaum's Seaside Knitters Society series, it is the first that I have read. I had no trouble following along, but I will start with book one next. The characters are so engaging I want to know them better. I enjoy fast paced mysteries with red herrings along the way, and this murder mystery delivers! I am excited to find this new to me author.
Thank you to #NetGalley, @KensingtonPublishing, and @SallyGoldenbaum for granting me an e-copy ARC of this book at my request. I like to review books that I enjoy.

The Seaside Knitters Series continue to be a favorite of mine and this book goes to the top of my favorite list since the author manages to inject the feel of the season: December is hard to not like with the feel of holidays in the air, wonderful descriptions of Izzy’s knitting shop, festive foods with yummy recipes included, and the close relationship between these four main characters: Izzy, Nell, Birdie and Cass. Cass has found the perfect nanny for their son—that is until she suddenly disappears along with their mutt. What has happened happened to her , where is she and why did she leave? Izzy is swamped with customers in her knitting shop and takes on an additional helper or will her attitude be a hindrance? Nell meets at one of the favorite restaurants in town an old college friend, Ollie, and briefly meets his much younger wife, a renowned chef, who is in town to cater the open house of the Mayor. This event has the entire town talking because it has been an open affair in the past but the Mayor has changed the venue to her recently updated house and the affair is by invitation only. While Izzy continues to worry about her Nanny, Mary, she and her husband attend the Mayor’s Open House along with the rest of the Seaside Knitters. During the event, the the body of the chef is discovered by Nell and Birdie. Can any of these events be related? Eat, drink and join these close friends as they search for answers to these puzzles. Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an advance reader copy; this is my honest review.

It's holiday time and people are making knitted Christmas gifts and preparing for the Mayor's holiday party. The party being catered by a celebrity chef, who is married to Nellie old college friend, Ollie. When the chef is murdered at the party, the number of suspects is large. Nell, Izzy, Bertie and Cass work to figure out who carried so much anger. Another great story in this long running series. Love these characters and their interrelationships!

A Dark And Snowy Night is the sixteenth book in the
Seaside Knitters Society Mystery series by Sally Goldenbaum.

Nell and Ben meet with Oliver Bishop, whom they haven’t seen in twelve years, at his wife Maddie’s funeral. Maddie was Nell’s BFF when they were all in college. Oliver’s young wife, Lidia, a renowned chef in her own right, is also in town. Lidia is in town to prepare the food for Sea Harbor Mayor Beatrice Scaglia’s Christmas party.

Cass and Danny Brandly have a baby, Joey, who is the perfect nanny for Molly Flanigan. Molly is very responsible for Joey and is a great cook. One night, there is a peeping-tom next door to Cass’s home. The following day Molly is gone, with no explanation.

A snowstorm started the night of the Christmas party, but not enough to keep anyone away from the festivities. The food was beyond belief, but it was well received. Nell went to talk with Lidia, but she was in a heated discussion with Dirk Evan, a staff member. Later, Nell looks for Lidia again, and she finds her, but someone has murdered her.

Once again, the Seaside Knitters will have a murder to investigate. They will find no shortage of suspects. Oliver will come under their scrutiny, as well Dirk. Lidia had riled a few locals when she tried to get support to buy Don and Rachel’s Ocean Edge Restaurant. Lidia wants to tear it down and build a glass monstrosity.

It’s always enjoyable to visit Sea Harbor. The book is well-written and told. The author does a beautiful job describing the town and its residents. Most of the regular characters are back, well-developed, believable, and enjoyable. The book moves at an even pace.

The book also includes instructions for a broken rib cowl and a delicious-sounding recipe.

I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
