It was okay. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the book. It would be a great read for the holiday season. Christmas-y cozy mysteries tend to be some of my favorite! It just wasn't exactly what I expected. Some parts felt overcomplicated to me for no reason, and I noticed quite a bit of repetition in the dialogue which put me off a bit. I think if I went into it with zero hopes and expectations, I would have enjoyed it a bit more!

It's always super enjoyable to join this group of four friends who're basically like sisters of various ages. I love how they gather to talk about the case at hand and compare sleuthing notes while they're knitting or talking. Their guys are pretty incredible too, and I love Cass's description of having Ben, a retired lawyer by your side if you need to talk to the police (probably not the exact quote): "It's like taking your favorite teddy bear to the principal's office."

The more I got into the book, I had a feeling I knew whodunit and was right. Toward the end with more clues coming together was when I guessed what else was going on in a couple of mixed-up people's lives. Izzy's a real champ at calling and getting info from people, lol.

The side story with town curmudgeon-but-brought-cookies lady Luna was really good! She was one lady you didn't wanna cross, yet she had some incredible patience going on with new knitters or just anyone who needed her. She was one of those surprising and interesting characters that crop up in books sometimes. I wouldn't mind her popping in again--she's a real character!

As sideways as the showdown could've gone, at least it didn't and Nell was able to calmly talk with the involved. I love how everything's always explained over fellowship and food and the end! It's like their supreme reward for having another killer put away. I always leave one of these books wishing I didn't have to and with the proverbial book hangover. Don't miss its release on September 27! When there's not a murder in Sea Harbor, it's pretty darn magical at Christmastime!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Kensington Cozies via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

It's almost Christmas, and Nell and Ben are entertaining an old college friend, Ollie, whose deceased wife was Nell's roommate and best friend. Ollie's current wife is a well-known chef, and Lidia is also in Sea Harbor to cater a Christmas party for the mayor. Cass and Danny have found a wonderful nanny, Molly, for their baby Joey. Molly not only is great with the baby, but she's also a very good cook. However, when Molly sees a peeping Tom at the house next door, she realizes it's Dirk, a man who bothered her in the past, and when she sees him a second time, she calls in Luna, the woman next door to take care of Joey and she leaves. It turns out that Lidia is interested in taking over the Ocean's Edge Restaurant run by Don and Rachel Wooten, and has been trying to convince the investors in the restaurant.

The Christmas party at the Mayor's home is almost over, when the fantastic chef is found dead. The four knitters, Birdie, Nell, Izzie, and Cass must find the killer so things can be normal again. To do that they have to find out a lot about the woman killed as well as many possible suspects. Fortunately Molly has returned, and Luna is helping out at Izzie's knitting store. Dirk is a possible suspect, but others include Nell's friend Oliver, Don and Rachel Wooten, and Molly. Can the knitters get enough information to solve the case in time for a Merry Christmas?

This is a great addition to the series with a surprise ending!

Nell, Birdie, Cass, and Izzy each have their own pile of things to do and deal with as Christmas approaches but then...;someone kills Lydia, the wife of Nell's friend Ollie, who was in town to cater the Mayor's party! Oh and Molly, Cass's nanny has disappeared! These four friends who met thanks to the Seaside Knitting Club make for good cozy heroines who work together to untangle mysteries. In fact, it's as much as their friendship and loves as it is about the crime. It's the latest in a series but will be fine as a standalone. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A good cozy read.

Another fun entry in a great series set on the coast of Massachusetts. We are introduced to new characters and it is set in the holiday season, Knitting pattern and recipes included.

A great addition to the series-a Christmas whodunnit with sorts of seasonal details to help you get in the holiday spirit.

What a great story with so many suspects. I love Cass, Izzy, Birdie, and Nell and the friendship they all have. Something I’m sure we all wish we had if we don’t. I really loved watching Luna change. A lesson to all of us to not be so judgmental. Sometimes we just need to be given a chance. I totally enjoyed the storyline and the great cast of characters. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Great quick read. This is the first book I have read in the series and found it to be a lovely cozy mystery with charming characters. I will be seeking out the three earlier books in series.

This is #16 in the Seaside Knitters series. I have read several, but not all of the series, so was able to enjoy the main characters, but did have to refer on occasion to the very helpful character list at the beginning of the book. In this story, Nell is reacquainting herself with an old college friend and meeting his new wife, a renowned chef there to cater the mayor's Christmas party. At the party, however, Lydia, the chef, is found dead outside in the snow. Meanwhile, there are odd happenings on Cass's street, and Mollie, her nanny disappears for a few days. The four friends want to believe a stranger is to blame, but the police are starting to focus on their friends. Let the sleuthing begin. An enjoyable if convoluted cozy. Fans will love seeing their old friends once again, especially with the snowy Christmas backdrop. New readers should probably start earlier in the series.
My copy was an eARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Nell, Izzy, Birdie, and Cass are friends--the seaside knitters-- who live in a village in New England. The mayor is holding a fancy holiday party and has brought in a well-known chef from New York, who also happens to be married to Nell's college friend, Ollie. There is a murder at the event, and there seem to be a number of suspects. The best part of the book is the warmth and friendship of the women, and many of the village residents. There are descriptions of delicious sounding meals by the fire, snow, and knitting shop camaraderie. As an avid knitter and mystery reader, I'm surprised I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series; I definitely want to read more. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This is my first time reading this author. I really enjoyed the book. After a dead body is found during a holiday party at the Mayor's house the Seaside knitters of Sea Harbor decide to investigate. Likable characters, good story.

A Dark and Snowy Night is the sixteenth mystery in Sally Goldenbaum’s Seaside Knitters Society mystery series. I have read the entire series as its one of my favorite cozy series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own. .

This next in series is a charming return to Christmas time . The author has created such a picturesque setting its fun to read on a hot day in summer to sweep you away. I love the long standing charcters, the well crafted sleuth and the charm of the fictional small town. The author has a talent for intriquing mysteries that keep me turning pages to conclusion. I enjoyed this next in series as the prefect Christmas setting.

Sally Goldenbaum’s Seaside Knitters Society series is one of my top favorite cozy mystery series of all time, so I was thrilled to read an advanced copy of A Dark and Snowy Night. I’ve been reading this series since it first came out years ago, so I’ve enjoyed how the friendships have grown into rich and fulfilling relationships over time.

Sea Harbor, Massachusetts is a magical place, even if it only exists in books. It’s a place I want to build a life, become a part of the town, join the Seaside Knitters as they knit their lives, and those of their neighbors, together. The author has such a talent for bringing the community to life, one can almost smell the fresh sea air, feel the cold nipping at one’s nose, smell the delectable scents of Nell’s cooking, and taste the lobster fresh from Cass’ boats.

Ms. Goldenbaum has an extraordinary talent for knitting plots together to form a cohesive story, one that keeps me in place until the very end. Red herrings are skillfully woven into the fabric of the story. In this particular book, I was completely taken aback at the end to discover who the murderer was.

The mystery in this book is intriguing - Cass and her husband have finally found the perfect nanny in Molly Flanagan. Molly has settled into life in Sea Harbor until a Peeping Tom next door scares her into disappearing with no trace. Nell and Ben Endicott’s old college friend Oliver arrives in town with his new younger wife, Lidia, who is the celebrity guest chef catering the Mayor’s holiday party. A heavy snow is falling the night of the party, and it ends up covering up the murdered body of the now-dead chef. The whole town is frightened with a murderer on the loose, and they’re on the verge of losing their Christmas spirit. Nell, Birdie, Cass, and Izzy delve into old secrets to figure out why Molly disappeared and Chef Lidia was murdered.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for letting me read this wonderful addition to the series. I’m happy to leave my thoughts and opinions on this book.

I picked this book up initially because of the beautiful cover and also because I liked reading cozy mysteries. This is an author I hadn't read anything by yet, and although this is the sixteenth book in the series, this is the first one for me. No matter, it was easy to jump into and follow without having read any of the others.

I enjoyed the group of characters that make up the Seaside Knitters. It seems their knitting skills can help knit the clues of a mystery together. The group is made up of Nell, Cass, Izzy, and Birdie - all likable characters. They were warm, friendly, and supportive of one another. The circumstances surrounding the murder were intriguing and the Seaside Knitters worriedly knitting together the clues was fun to follow.

Thanks to Kensington Books through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on September 27, 2022.

A Dark and Snowy Night by Sally Goldenbaum is the fifth book in the Seaside Knitter Society series. It's Christmastime and Birdie, Cass, Izzy and Nell are busy preparing for all the Christmas festivities. But there are mysteries to solve to distract these sleuthing knitters. Once again they work to solve the mysteries. I like these characters. They are well-developed, caring and fun. It has been enjoyable following the events in their lives. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first book in the series, Murder Wears Mittens.

A Dark and Snowy Night is the sixteenth mystery in Sally Goldenbaum’s Seaside Knitters Society mystery series, but it is the first in the series I have read. I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this series and definitely fell in love with the core group of friends. Since this was my first mystery in the series, I was missing a bit of background info and am not sure which characters are first introduced in this book and which have been around for awhile. Overall this didn’t affect how I enjoyed the book, but I do think it would have added more to my enjoyment if I knew some of the background info I’d know if I had started the series from the beginning, which I plan to do now after reading and enjoying this mystery.

I always love Christmas time mysteries and this book is no exception. I am a fan of how this book was set in Christmas time with references to the season without being over the top. Overall I found this to be a well written, enjoyable mystery and I look forward to starting this series from the beginning and getting to know the core characters even more. I think this is a good recommendation for cozy mystery fans!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book!

What a joy to read a great cozy Christmas story in late summer. The ladies of Sea Harbor are winding down to enjoy the holidays with family and friends , planing their knitting circles and classes but all have agreed to attend the mayors annual holiday party. The party takes a deadly turn when a famous visiting chef and wife of Nell and Ben Endicott's college friend is murdered. The ladies join forces to find out who would bring murder to their beautiful town. I enjoyed the book and very glad that NetGalley allowed me to read an early release. I now have a new cozy mystery to read for the fall and winter.

Back in Sea Harbor with the Seaside knitters at Christmastime. Molly has come into Cass's life to save the day as a nanny, and all is well....until the Mayor's exclusive holiday party and a murder. While I love the usual characters, and enjoyed the story, this one felt a tiny bit "off" or "different". Less knitting or less of a "family" feel? Perhaps it was the new character (Oliver), or the chef's and assistants were so mean/out of place? Anway, as always, can't wait for the next installment. Thanks to NetGalley, Kensington Books, and Ms Goldenbaum for the preread in exchange for an honest review.

How I want to be a member of the Seaside Knitters Society! I want to sit in Izzy's yarn shop on a Thursday night with good friends, delicious food and wine, a roaring fire, and a snowstorm outside! Reading this series is always like wrapping yourself up in a fuzzy blanket on a cold night. They make me feel warm and cosy. The mystery in this one was fairly easy to solve early in the book. But that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. I like the newish characters that have been introduced. I'm already waiting for the next instalment!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
