Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.

Alison is struggling after the loss of her baby and it's no secret. However, it's a secret from her past that may be her undoing.

I couldn't get into this book. Alison came across as hysterical and a little unhinged and at times it was hard to sympathize with her. She never clicked as a strong character for me. I realize her big secret was the reason she was the way she was, but I found the entire situation very hard to believe would happen in current times to begin with. It cast doubt on the entire narrative and in a thriller like this, you need to be able to find some sort of believability that the situation described could happen. I finished the book, but there was no one was I really rooting for in it. That made it difficult to stay in the novel.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Inkubator Books and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

At times it was confusing, overall throughly an enjoyable read. Well written with enjoyable characters. I didn’t want to put it down.

All in all, this was a good story but I felt it was confusing to read throughout. It centers on Alison who is trying to get past the death of her baby daughter and opens a photography studio. She becomes suspicious of her new friend Rebecca when strange things start happening that lead her to believe that someone knows a secret she has never told anyone- one that threatens to tear apart her life.

Why is it confusing, you ask? I felt that in an effort to add suspense, the author didn’t give the reader quite enough info to connect the dots. There were also dream sequences and allusions to previous events that just made it hard for me to connect with with what really happening. There were chapters narrated by another person that you don’t find out until the end and sometimes it wasn’t clear when POVs shifted. I walked away thinking that the story itself was really good but could have been executed better.

In terms of the characters, I thought Alison regularly jumped to conclusions and sometimes had trouble buying into her train of thought. I was a bit surprised she managed to keep this big secret so long when she was clearly unraveling all these years later.

Overall, this book didn’t totally do it for me but I did like the story itself and I find that I enjoyed it more looking back than I did while reading it. It’s a unique take and does elicit genuine questions throughout. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book kept me on my toes from start to finish. Left me constantly wondering what was the lie and how would this story end? I don't often find a thriller that has me so confused (but in the best of ways!).
We follow our MC Ali who has lied but we don't know why or what about. She is a high strung woman who has recently went through a traumatic loss and is trying to pick up the pieces and start a new business. She encounters a variety of characters in the story that will constantly have you guessing who can be trusted. We also get a second mysterious narrator every few chapters and it leaves you wondering how this all is connected. This was my first Ruth Harrow book and will not be the last, I couldn't put this one down.

Overall I enjoyed this book but I did get a bit confused sometimes with the different times and I felt the story dragged slightly in parts and I just wanted to say "get on with it".

It was well written with good characters but on the whole for me personally I didn't find it a page turner which I thought it would be after reading the opening pages.

Thank you to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for sending me this ARC copy.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc of Just One Lie.
Alison has suffered a tragedy with the loss of her baby girl and is finding it hard to come to terms with but she must stay strong for her son Adam and protect the shocking secret she is keeping from her husband Dan and family.
Alison thought her secret was safe until her life begins to unravel, she receives threatening notes, damage done to her business and sabotage. She can trust no one.
Just one Lie is told from 2 POV, one being Alison and one of which we do not find out who it is until towards the end of the book.
There is a great range of characters who really bring you into the story and it is written so well you really feel the distrust and dislike for certain characters.
The story is very well written and the plot fantastic, it keeps you engaged all the way through and have you turning the pages as fast as you can to find out the next twist and to find out the secret.
I highly recommend Just one Lie and give it a 5 star review. You will not be disappointed.

This was interesting and I can’t say I like it or hate it. The story has 2 parts and I wish the chapter would say who is who. So that was confusing when you start reading. Story does keep you on your toes and wanting to know what happens next. Some parts were dragging but picks up quickly.

Trust No One…
Is someone out to get Alison? Sinister messages, hacking, sabotage- everything seems to be closing in on her. She’s still struggling with the loss of her child and in no frame of mind to cope with very much. Alison, however, may well be holding secrets close to her chest. Relayed in a dual point of view with a snappy narrative, this is a tension fuelled suspense with some well drawn characters. Suspect everyone, trust no one.

I read this in one sitting and I loved it. Fast paced with good tension and it was gripping and engaging all the way through. I couldn't put it down.

“Just One Lie” is by Ruth Harrow. This book is told in two POVs - our main character, Alison, and another person, who we don’t know until toward the end of the book. I found the use of the two different voices rather interesting as it became a bit of a puzzle to figure out who the other person was. The writing was engaging, though I found myself, at times, getting a bit lost seeing track of the different characters. My one issue with books like this is that with all the secrets, there were unreliable characters - not my favourite character trait. I never really trusted Alison’s story because there was so much the reader wasn’t told. As for the other POV, it became clear early on that that person was also to not be trusted … and even Alison’s helper had secrets - as did Alison’s husband. Too many unreliable characters make it difficult for me to figure out who - if anyone - is telling the truth at any time. The topic of this book was interesting, though I thought there were a few logic holes, but they didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the book.

Alison has difficulty coming to terms with the loss of her baby daughter. She has a young son, Adam, and has opened a photography business. She gets threatening notes, and strange things occur at her business which has her questioning her own sanity.

She suspects everyone, but really has no idea who is guilty of the threats.

The book has two POV's, one is Alison, the other is not known until close to the end of the book, which keeps it very suspenseful.

I really did enjoy this book, it kept me interested, I was eager to find out who the mysterious person was that was causing so much stress to Alison, and was surprised when I did find out.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for this ARC.

This book absolutely has a dynamic main character who I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen with. This book definitely is a fast paced thriller. It started quickly and it ended just as quickly. I did however enjoy the ride!

Good book! This book had a twisty winding story, that had suspense, intrigue, action and a heart wrenching storyline! I definitely enjoyed reading this book, at times I felt lost with the characters but it was still a really good book! I will recommend reading this book, as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Very good read, suspenseful as you don't know who the other story teller is. As you get to know the main character you realise the true stress and effect on all her relationships this one lie is having. I could fully imagine the terror caused by the strange occurrences that keep happening to her. Stayed with me, excellent!
