The concept for this story is extremely creative. Being able to edit reality would be extremely useful but also confusing in real life. That’s does come across in the writing of this story. I love the inclusion of footnotes and little blips from the author. It adds a depth of humor that you don’t get with straight narrative styles.
I usually don’t like to read YA novels because they are either unnecessarily, heartbreakingly sad and traumatic or a perfect, sappy love story that makes teens think they’re failing if they don’t have a storybook romance and find the love of their life in high school. This author gets that and doesn’t write a cliched love story.
Now all that said, I didn’t really think the story clicked with me. Perhaps I’m just coming in as an outsider. I have a a feeling that fans of this author will like it. It just wasn’t for me. I don’t particularly want to share this to good reads because I don’t think I’m the intended audience. My review and rating are how this book connected for me but I don’t think it’s fair to the book, the author, or the intended audience to publicly judge it off my preferences.
