One thing that I have never been with a Sue Moorcroft book, is disappointed. I’m delighted to confirm that that remains true. A White Christmas on Winter Street brings all the emotion and happiness that I would expect from a return trip to Middledip. This time, we mainly met new characters, but the old gang got the odd mention. If you’ve never read one of Sue’s books before, they are all standalone stories where previous characters are mentioned in passing but you don’t need to know their full history.
The story starts with Sky reaching a huge decision about her life, after feeling betrayed by a man that she loved as a brother. That huge decision has a massive impact on her life, and she moves to Middledip, where she has nothing but happy childhood memories. Her arrival is met coolly by local resident, Daz, whose personal plans have been set adrift by Sky’s arrival. Of course, it soon becomes clear that their relationship will thaw as they both become aware of a sizzling attraction. Naturally, their path isn’t smooth, and the couple soon discover that they really don’t know one another.
Sky is a complex character, raised in part by the welfare system, her mother had preferred drugs and alcohol to parenting, and they remain estranged. With no other known family, she has thrown all her energy and loyalty into her relationship with ‘Foster-brother’, Freddy. After a lonely childhood, Sky has developed a strong sense of independence, so she finds herself bemused by the connection that she builds with eleven-year-old Wilf.
This enchanting story has Christmas by the barrow load. From the imaginatively lit street to the open house dinner, a strong feeling of yuletide affection runs through the book’s core. With access to Sky’s thoughts, it’s impossible not to feel sympathy for all that she’s missed out on, over the years. Sue Moorcroft conjures up amazing characters who stay with the reader for a long time, and I can still feel Sky’s story resonating with me.
As we follow Sky’s story, it’s a joy to see her imagining a new version of how her life could be, if she just has the strength and determination to accept the love and support around her and to trust her instincts. Special mentions go to Wilf and his joy for life, and to Daz for being a thoroughly lovely chap.

I never connected with this book. It is very slow to start and by the time things start to happen, I was already not feeling the characters. I'm glad so many others are enjoying it, though!

Well Sue Moorcroft does it again! A fantastic read, couldn't put it down. Perfect for the Christmas period or when you need to feel snug and warm. The characters are great and relatable, scenery is stunning and thr story line will leave you smiling from ear to ear! Full of festive fun, friendship and love. A must read for Christmas or to be honest anytime of the year as it is such a great book.

Reading a Sue Moorcroft book is like wrapping yourself up in a warming cuddle, and this book is no exceptions. Well written, and very well researched, it's one of those that will have you reading far into the night for 'just one more chapter'.

Sky and her foster brother Freddy were brought up in Middledip, and when Freddy takes his new fiancé's side over hers, and an opportunity comes up to buy a house in Middledip, it seems the answer to Sky's prayers. Sky soon meets Daz - who was trying to buy the same house, and his best friend's young son Wilf who soon captures her heart. Sky had forgotten how friendly the villagers are, and soon realises that their offer of help is genuine, and to fit in is to accept help. Throw into the mix Freddy's scheming fiancé, Daz's scheming ex girlfriend, Daz's best friend in prison, and some long lost family, this could be a Christmas that Sky didn't expect and will never forget.

Bundles of fun, as warming as hot mulled wine in the snow, as Christmassy as fairy lights at dusk, this book will warm your heart and leave you wanting more. A triumph.

This is a really nice slow burning christmas romance, that delivers not just the feeling of Christmas but it's truest meaning. Our main character Sky Terran, a successful woman who grew up with a tumultuous upbringing buys a huge house in a small English town. The place needs renovating, and as she sets to build herself a new life in the familiar street, she discovers an unexpectedly close knit community.. It's well written, heartwarming, never over the top and got me feeling right at home in the town of Middledip! I really enjoyed all the holiday details, the lights and the cookies etc, it was so festive!
Would gladly recommend if you're looking to read something sweet but meaningful by the fire this upcoming holiday season!

What a warm and cosy read this was.

It was joyous to be back in Middledip once again, a village that I am utterly convinced grows quite a bit larger with each book that Sue Moorcroft sets there, as this predominately has a cast of all new characters, plus a fluttering passing of familiar faces.

But 100% this is a standalone, it's just fans of the author will recognise this setting, and The Corner House on Winter Street is a wonderful focal point for this story. As is the whole Christmas decoration contest pitting Winter Street against other streets in Cambridgeshire.

But it is so much more than a Christmassy story, for Sky Terran is a wonderful character, and her relationship with Freddy, her foster brother is interesting to say the least. It is also at the start not in the best of places which is upsetting Sky and leads her to quit her job with him and move back to Middledip.

And seeing Sky quickly become part of the community in the village is heartwarming to say the least. Especially her friendship with Courtenay and her son Wilf who have been going through a tricky time themselves.

And Sky is easily able to relate in a way to what Wilf is going through and it is so sweet to see him come out of his shell as the story progresses. She also cares about the environment and it was interesting to hear about solar powered Christmas lights, and fat cakes for birds in winter that can double as decorations.

And then there is Daz, who is a video game developer and tester which makes him my perfect guy on job alone, let alone all of his wonderful personality traits.

I just loved everything about these characters and this story and it was told with Sue Moorcroft's trademark warmth and sensitivity. There is a generous helping of Christmas Spirit sprinkled throughout the book too.

It is simply marvellous and really did make me feel as though I was in a winter wonderland at times. Another triumphant story from an author I absolutely love.

White Christmas on Winter Street is, as the name suggests a Christmas read and it is definitely a good one. This sweet, festive romance was heart-warming and very enjoyable. It felt that towards the end it lost its way a little but only for a while, it ended just as I would have hoped. This is the sort of story you want to curl up with on a cold frosty day and get in the mood for Christmas, it had all the right vibes.

There were some lovely characters in this story. I really liked Sky, she was kind and loving despite a rotten childhood where she had known none of these things. Daz is great and I liked the way he helped everyone. The story is set I'm the fictional village of Middledip and it is full of good neighbours and nosey neighbours, which make up the comings and goings of village life.

I did enjoy this festive read and it certainly put me in the right mood for Christmas. If you are looking for an easy Christmas read, this one is for you.

A really enjoyable Christmas story with lots of sub plots running through it keeping you intrigued and invested in the lives of Winter Street!

This was the festive feelgood book I needed!
Good community vibe, lovely characters and engaging plotline

Normally I am a huge fan of Sue Moorcroft's Christmas stories but this one just didn't hit the mark for me.
It seemed to missing be the usual charm and I found the characters irritating.

Sky and Freddy had been very close, almost like brother and sister, working successfully together. That was until Millie came along, and she changed everything.
Sky feels forced to start out on her own, and buys a neglected old house in Middledip, the village where she had been happy with Nan Heather (her foster mother) for a short time as a child.
This is a lighthearted amusing story, told in a friendly, easy going style. There is a real Christmas feel, with snow, children, and the community working together to brighten their streets with dazzling lights, lots of glitter, and reindeer, hoping to win the annual competition. Sue Moorcroft paints an idyllic picture of communities working together, friendships developing, and Sky’s sizzling relationship with Daz.
She sets the scene perfectly, bringing the characters and village community to life with warm, descriptive writing. I became totally absorbed in the story, an entertaining and welcoming read, perfect for winter.

Set in the village of Middledip Cambridgeshire this book has everything and a bit more, to pull you into the Christmas spirit.
I loved the mixture of characters in this book, and I heartily warmed to them.
I liked how the story flowed, and the values Sky had towards helping our planet.
It has village community, empathy, compassion, loyalty, friendship love and hope all thrown into the mix, and I liked how the characters relate to each other.
I feel there is a book waiting to be written about the character Freddy.
A pleasure to read.

A village atmosphere and snow at Christmas what's not to like. Sky returning to the village where she felt loved as a child, having had a traumatic start in life. New beginnings and friendships high on her agenda she sets about restoring her new house and garden just in time for the village's Christmas lights decorations competition.
As with all Sue Moorcroft's books this is a feel good, heartwarming novel. A light easy read to ease you gently into the festive season

For me a Christmas book is a story with a hug. This did not quite do that for me. The feelgood factor in these books did not hit the mark with this book in the usual way that Sue Moorcroft books usually do. I am not too sure why.

Another wonderful read by Sue MoorCroft! I loved this book from cover to cover. Filled with characters that came alive and you could feel the village spirit with each chapter. I laughed along with Wlif and my heart went out to Sky! A must read!

As much as I love Christmas this book just didn't have the festive feel I was hoping for. I found Sky a very irritating and self righteous person that I couldn't connect with.

Whimsical but never frivolous, sweet but not sugary, deeply kind rather than merely nice. I loved it. The story itself was also even more interesting than I had anticipated. I went into it expecting a romance story and got so much more.

This is an absolutely delightful book, full of seasonal cheer. Sky had a hard start in life, and after an abrupt exit from her successful job, starts on a life change. Winter Street is full of the nicest neighbours you could wish for. It isn’t all plain sailing though, as family from the past rear their heads and current friends have their own problems. I highly recommend this book.

What can I say, I love Sue Moorcroft books and I jumped at the chance to read this one and I wasn't disappointed. This book was amazing, heartwarming and a Christmas feel good vibe.

It follows the story of Sky, when after falling out with her foster brother and leaving his company, she buys a house in Middledip, where they were both fostered together as kids, and moves in. She has no friends or family but she really wants to restore the Corner House and get involved in village life.

She is delighted to find her foster mother is still alive and living in the same house. She starts to make friends and gets involved in the Christmas light competition.

This book is about community, family and finding your tribe, no matter who they are. I want to live in Winter street and be part of this community, as I think we have lost this along the way.

I would definitely recommend this book curled up with a warm blanket and a hot chocolate with Christmas songs playing in the background. Thank you Sue for another amazing book ❤️

I’m sorry I just couldn’t get into this one at all. The first chapter was so off putting with its overly complicated descriptions of relationships between the characters. I didn’t feel any affection for any of them and that made it very difficult for me to enjoy the story.
I’m sure it will be very popular, but it isn’t for me
