Another fast paced, unputdownable twisty book from Nicole Trope. The writing is enough to keep you wanting to read more and wondering exactly what's going on. The cat and mouse going on between Gideon's ex wife and wife starts making hi crazy and worry for the safety of his daughter. This book was keeping me on the edge of my seat as things went from bad to good and back to bad again.
Amazing book loved every minute of it cannot wait to read more from this author hopefully in the near future.
Nicole Trope is a must read author for me! I completely lost track of time as I was pulled into this story, flipping through the pages at such a rapid speed, that I couldn’t stop. Good twists and turns and I loved the ending! Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Book Description: She has my husband. She has my child. She has my life.
I never thought I would end up here. Alone, in a cold one-bedroom apartment, only seeing my precious daughter once a week. A totally addictive, twist-packed psychological thriller about the lengths we go to for the people we love. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Liane Moriarty and Adele Parks.
Loved this book! It was Fast paced and kepted me guessing. A page turner! Kept you guessing until the very end.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
This is a good book except for the ending which was a let down. The premise is good. The characters are very unlikeable. The ending was completely over the top and ridiculous.
I loved the premise of this story and it did not disappoint! I was hooked and really enjoyed this story line and the perspectives of each character.
What a great popcorn thriller!
It kicks off with a punch—a heartbreaking beginning that really tugs at your heartstrings. You can feel Sarah's torment, but at the same time, her love for her daughter, Emily. Charlotte, on the other hand, is a tough nut to crack. Her jealousy is palpable and makes her hard to like. Sarah's point of view is a standout; you can't help but empathize with her and the tough spot she's in. And then there's Gideon, caught between a rock and a hard place, trying to do the right thing.
The dynamics between these characters are spot on. You can feel the tension building between Gideon and Charlotte, and Sarah's growing confusion adds to the mix. But as we move towards the conclusion, things start to unravel a bit, especially if you've already guessed a major twist.
Overall, it's an easy and entertaining read with some standout moments. The characters are so well fleshed out that you feel like you're right there with them. You'll feel the frustration of both Sarah and Charlotte, and Gideon's dilemma is palpable. There's a sense of unease that slowly creeps in as you start to realize things aren't what they seem. You're left unsure of who to trust, and the use of unreliable narrators adds an extra layer of intrigue.
Wow, another, fabulous dramatic novel by Nicole Trope. I had l loved the boys ice read and this is no excelsior. She has created strong characters who kept me engrossed from the first line. Highly recommended
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book has 3 different POVs, all which were sort of easy to keep apart - although I got confused a couple of times.
Otherwise, this was a quick and engaging read.
Nicole Trope has become one of my favorite psych thriller authors. I know that I’m going to get a solid story that will probably keep me guessing. His Other Wife is a great example of what she does so well.
I like it when a psych thriller starts out with a scene that actually occurs somewhere later in the story. It makes me actively read, looking for that scene, or for clues that might lead up to that scene.
It is an effective storytelling device because it builds tension, and this author uses it perfectly.
I could tell from the very beginning that there was more to Charlotte than meets the eye. She was too perfect. And anyone that “understanding” usually isn’t.
Sarah, on the other hand, is instantly a sympathetic character. Any mom will be able to relate to her instincts to protect her child at any cost. Coupled with grief, it is easy to see how that could wreak havoc on one’s mental health.
Frankly, I found Gideon to be an idiot and a catalyst for all that happens in the book. If he loved Sarah as much as he said he did (and this is not a spoiler) he wouldn’t have moved on so quickly or easily. Just sayin’.
And then there is Charlotte’s mother, Carol. I have mentioned before how I sometimes get flashed of other characters that I am reminded of, especially when they are vivid.
For me, every time Carol appeared in the book, I pictured the grandmother from Kindergarten Cop. You know, the bad guy’s mom who was constantly telling him what to do? Perfectly dressed, perfect hair, very proper…but a sociopath.
Yeah, got that vibe from Carol.
As for the plot, I did guess part of “psych” part of the psych thriller. I just “had a feeling.” But the author went deeper with it than I expected, so there were aspects that surprised me, which isn't easy to do.
I particularly liked the endings. And yes, that’s plural, because even though it wraps up in a single epilogue, there are a few different endings to be found. It was actually one of the most satisfying epilogues in recent memory.
If you’re looking for a solid psych thriller for a beach read, pick up His Other Wife. Or, actually, any other Nicole Trope book, like The Stepchild.
This was a WILD ride. I was completely gripped by this from the very first page and totally absorbed until the very last page. I absolutely loved the way each of the characters were developed, especially the former relationship between Gideon and Sarah. I loved how the author tried to steer you to believe one person was at fault only to completely twist it around and show you who was doing what the entire time. I loved how so many characters were involved in this so it was hard to figure out exactly who was at fault. The ending was very dramatic and fast paced which I felt the book did a good job of leading up to in a natural way. I was left very satisfied and everything felt justified. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Gideon takes a terrifying call from his five year old daughter Emily, who says the whispering man is back and that she and her mother Sarah are hiding in a cupboard. Gideon had hoped Sarah's mental health had improved and now he feels guilty as he never saw any signs of her deterioration.
Sarah has spent three months in a mental health facility and now she is thrilled to be home.
She is determined to stay healthy and to focus on her daughter, but she soon starts to hear the dreaded whispering at night. Meanwhile her husband's new wife is making her question her sanity.
A great read that had me on the edge of my sofa biting my nails in this gripping twist packed psychological thriller.

Gideon gets a call from Emily, his five-year-old daughter. The whispering man is back, and she and her mother Sarah are hiding in the cupboard. Sarah has suffered from some mental health issues, but Gideon really thought she had been improving. Now he feels guilty that he did not see that Sarah was struggling. Gideon is also recently engaged to Charlotte, who is eager to step into a mothering role. Will Sarah recover from her mental illness? Will Charlotte completely overtake the mothering role to Emily? Only time will tell.
Nicole Trope delivers another fast-paced thriller. The story alternates between Gideon, Sarah, and Charlotte’s points of view. The characters are all fully developed and feel like real people. As you read feel as though you share the frustrations of both Sarah and Charlotte. You also can feel how torn Gideon is as he feels forced to choose between them. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers! I give it 4/5 stars.

Wow!! Now this is a thriller. Everything about this was so on point. The author understood the assignment. I’m forever a fan of this author.
Another cracking read from the author. Her reads are always gripping and explosive and this is no exception. Plenty of twists and turns and the ending is a big surprise.
This book was fantastic: I didn’t guess the twists at all and usually I’m pretty switched on with twists. I felt for Sarah, and Emily and also Gideon the whole way through
After reading a couple of books by this author, I am addicted and look forward to reading more of her books! I feel like Nicole's books always start off with a bang! Pulling you in right from the get go and holding your intrigue! His Other Wife was no different, it pulled me in just like Nicole's other books with its twists and turns. I was not left disappointed!
Another fast paced, page turning read full of suspense to keep the reader guessing! The ending was so good! I was surprised by it and I love that!
