A totally addictive, twist-packed psychological thriller about the lengths we go to for the people we love.
Always enjoy this authors books and this was another good psychological thriller,,a quick read, tense and atmospheric, maybe at times a bit repetitive ( and annoying the childs nickname was Ladybug ) it was still a book with twists and turns and an interesting storyline, look forward to the authors next book
BOOOM this book is explosive in all the right ways, addictive, gripping, easy to read, full of twist and turns and full of lots of thrills. Great book.
Nicole Trope hits us with another explosive new thriller!
She writes with a beautifully descriptive and genuine sense of time and place.
The compelling, visually descriptive narrative keeps you engaged and turning pages all night!
The story keeps twisting and turning until the very end.
The tension and suspense are kept high all along.
Trope has a really unique writing style, which gives the book the right pace.
Interesting and very well developed characters to keep you on your toes.
An enjoyable, intense and entertaining psychological thriller read I couldn't stop reading!
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Bookouture,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I will post my review to my platforms, blog, B&N and Waterstone closer to pub date.
This was an okay read. No more, no less. I enjoyed the spooky and psychological aspects of this story. However, I couldn't fully get into the story. The writing was both messy and repetitive. The characters were a bit flat, unlikable. And, in the end, the plot was predictable.
Wow! I completed the book in a day; I could not put it down. I loved the different perspectives of the characters as the story was moving along. I kind of suspected what was happening, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the book. It was a fantastic read.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the arc of His Other Wife by Nicole Troupe. This book was a quick, psychological thriller with many twist that made it hard to put it down. I will read more books by this author and when someone asks for a recommendation for a psychological thriller author I would recommend this author.
This book is intense and can relate to domestic situations when you involve a couple that is divorced ans is raising a child.
I felt like this book was slow and repetitive. It took me a while to get into and normal I love her books! It was predictable too.
His Other Wife started off strong and never let up! This was full of suspense and drama.
Gideon and Charlotte are newly engaged. You can tell that she’s infiltrated herself into his and his daughter Emily’s lives quickly and in any way possible. She has a steady hand and is capable of steering the ship and they need that after Emily’s mother Sarah’s breakdown.
I assumed heading into this that Sarah was going to be the villain, coming back for her family, but it’s hard to pin down who the baddie is for a while. They’re complex and flawed characters who are mostly trying their best but also throwing a little trickery in here and there..
Sarah is suffering from mental issues and hallucinating from her refusal to sleep. She feels intense guilt and shame for things beyond her control. It finally reaches its peak one night when Emily calls her father from the cupboard where they’re hiding from an imaginary threat. Sarah is sent to inpatient care and Emily is in the caring hands of Gideon and Charlotte, who’s grown very attached to Emily, having no child of her own. Charlotte makes sure she has his hand in marriage before Sarah can return.
Neither women are particularly happy the other is around. If a bus tragically hit one, the other would probably be okay with it but they’re trying to get along for the sake of the family. Upon Sarah’s return, Charlotte resents the care and time Sarah receives from Gideon. Sarah also starts to hear things again. Are they real or have her inner demons caught up to her?
Who’s in danger here? Sarah or Charlotte? They’re not very happy to be sister wives, that’s for sure, but would one hurt the other? How far would they go to secure the future they want? It gets messy and surprises are around every corner!
This was great and the perfect length to be a quick summer read. There were a lot of heavy topics handled in this and I think it was handled appropriately. Definitely looking forward to more from this author.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review!
This is a page turner for sure. When Gideon's wife, Sarah, struggling with the loss of her unborn baby, followed closely by the deaths of her parents, she rejects herself and her husband, spiraling into depression and nighttime hallucinations that leave her sleepless and exhausted. She can hardly care for their daughter Emily. She tells her husband to leave, and they divorce. Charlotte becomes the stability that Gideon craves and they marry. Charlotte revels in mothering Emily. Of course, all is not as it seems, which is what makes this a really good read. Well written, good character development, great story.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this advance copy.
This always had to end badly for someone and I really hoped it was not for Sarah, who came across as a very sympathetic character, as did Charlotte who seems to bend over backward to help Sarah’s reintroduction into normal life.. However, there are three people in this marriage and we all know what that means.
I have to admit I read this book in a day. It is told from the perspective of Gideon, Sarah and Charlotte. Has Sarah really lost her mind or is someone trying to drive her mad and if so who? The very beginning of the book finds Sarah hiding in a cupboard from the Whispering Man, much to the consternation of her sweet little five year old Emily. Surely this is not the act of a sane person. Everyone knows there is no such thing as a Whispering Man. Or is there? No one would be surprised if Sarah is losing her mind after everything she has gone through, losing her baby and her parents in quick succession. Thank goodness Charlotte is there and is more than happy to take care of Emily. Of course the problems start when Sarah is allowed home and wants to become a mother to Emily again. Is it safe to allow a mentally unstable person to take responsibility for a five year old? Charlotte doesn’t thinks so but Gideon is determined to give Sarah a chance, even if it means spending more time with his ex wife. There may be trouble ahead.
This is a real thriller of a book with the twist at the end you expect from Nicole Trope
Sarah finds herself being admitted to a clinic when she has a breakdown after having a miscarriage and losing both her parents in quick succession, and tells husband Gideon she wants a divorce, which he is heartbroken about. But eventually he meets and marries Charlotte and they seem happy together especially as Charlotte takes on their daughter Emily, but when Sarah returns from the clinic Charlotte’s life is thrown into turmoil as Sarah wants to spend more time with Emily and Gideon takes his ex wife’s side realising he still loves Sarah. But Charlotte won’t give up Gideon without a fight especially with her mother Carol by her side. It’s a good physiological thriller with a good twist towards the end, although I thought it just sagged a bit in the middle. But that said i would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre,it’s a good 4 star physiological thriller
3.5 stars rounded up
I never thought I would end up here. Alone, in a cold one-bedroom apartment, only seeing my precious daughter once a week. Another woman is living the life that was once mine. I wish I was still married to my ex-husband, the love of my life. I dream of tucking my five year old child into her ballerina bed sheets every night. I miss living in a beautiful house, the perfect family home. I'd do anything to be with my family again. To start over and prove to them that I've changed, that I won't loose my control like before.
Gideon is now married to Charlotte, who is helping him to care for his daughter, Emily. Charlotte would love to be Emily's mum, she adores the little girl. His ex-wife, Sarah, das been having psychological problems, she's been in a psychiatric hospital for months and now she's ready to live on her own again.
The further you get into this book, the more intriguing it becomes. Charlotte is the jealous type and hates how Gideon still takes care of his ex-wife. And there begins the emotionally fraught relationships between the three adults. I didn't like or care for any of the characters. The plotline was a bit creepy and twist filled. It's told from the three main characters perspectives. The ending was a bit of a surprise.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #NicoleTrope for my ARC of #HisOtherWife in exchange for an honest review.
An enjoyable read for those who like domestic psychological thrillers. Told from three perspectives – ex-wife Sarah, whose mental breakdown after losing a baby has now seen her divorced and also spending time in a clinic. Then we have ex-husband lawyer Gideon. He never wanted a divorce and has remained in touch with Sarah. Having custody of five year old Emily, he is keen that once Sarah recovers she has continuing access to their daughter. And then finally new wife Charlotte. Glamorous, sophisticated, with a high flying interior design career she is keen to become parent to Emily, but not so keen on sharing with Sarah.
It's difficult to make an assessment on whose narrative to believe. It’s clear someone wants to drive Sarah back into the clinic while at the same time taking away access to little Emily. Gideon is piggy in the middle, trying to do right by his ex-wife, who he clearly has feelings for, while at the same time treading a difficult pathway with his new wife.
As the story progressed, I did get a feeling I knew what was going on, but there was an unexpected twist at the end which I didn’t see coming. The ending, as for many of these types of stories, left things open, but all in all I found this a very readable and enjoyable psychological and would recommend.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Nicole Trope and Bookouture for an ARC of His Other Wife in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. The twists were unexpected and I really felt empathy for the main character and her suffering. The story captured my attention right away.
His other wife by Nicole Trope was a pretty good read but left me with more questions than answers. I'm still sitting here like....but what happens next? Lol I have said it before and I'll say it again Nicole Trope truly does have a way with words!
His other wife starts off with telling us a little bit about Gideon and Charlotte's relationship. They are newlyweds in a (what seems like) happy marriage. Then we find out a lot about gideon His ex wife Sarah and their daughter Emily. Rite from the get go we learn about Sarah's grief with losing her parents and a son she and Gideon miscarried. Sarah starts hearing voices and losing her mind due to lack of sleep. It comes to a point where she is endangering her own child. She ends up getting sent away to get help in a mental institution. Sarah ends up befriendng a lonely man in the same boat as her in the institution named Damien. Damien makes her feel at home helps her get through her days. When Sarah leaves the mental institution everything is different. Gideon and Charlotte are married. Sarah is no longer trusted with her child like she used to be. Charlotte seems to have taken over Sarah's role as mom in Emily's life. But Gideon will stop at nothing to help his ex wife fully recover and completely restore her relationship with their daughter. Charlotte doesn't like this one bit she wishes Sarah would have never left the institution. She wants Emily and Gideon all to her self. After coming home from the institution Sarah starts hearing voices and losing sleep again....
Is Damien really who we think he is?
Is Sarah really hearing voices or is she losing her mind? Will she ever gain back her place in Gideon and Emily's lives...or will Charlotte take over for good? Check out June's must read summer thriller by Nicole Trope.
I couldn't put this amazing book down!
There should be a Gideon in this world for everyone; he sounded like an incredible man. Charlotte thought she loved him, but what she really wanted was his daughter, Emily, to herself. Charlotte could never have been the lady for Gideon because she was her mother's daughter, sadly. Sarah, Emily's real mummy, was cut a raw deal: losing a baby losing her parents very close together. Sarah didn't cope at all well and pushed the lovely Gideon away; she needed time alone.
Sarah needed help, and she received help - just not the right help at the right time. Please read this book to find out what happened - there are many twists, turns and dead-ends along the very cleverly written journey.
This is the first book I've read of Nicole Tropes and I am blown away! I'm already looking where I can get my hands on another of hers.. & I'm about to break my book ban for her!
This was a psychological thriller like no other. I started this morning and didn't stop until I had finished... I wouldn't.. couldn't even. Proper spine tingling and gripping!!
The story told from several perspectives literally screws with your head. I was flicking through so quickly eager to know how this was going to turn out! Then right at the end boom a shocking twist!
Any fans of Thrillers.. get this!!! It's one you don't want to miss!!
What a great read! This psychological thriller has everything - divorce, his other wife and a child custody battle. While one woman is slowing being driven back to the mental health clinic she has just been released from, who is trying to send her back? And what about her daughter whom she loves beyond measure? What will Sarah do to hang on to her daughter and her sanity?
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
Omg! What did I just read?!! So good!! You might be the first wife but never forget the other wife! This is a must read!
