Bumbling Baboons On A Tightrope! 😳😯🤯🤯😳

WHAT THE FLYING FLUFF BALLS!? Mother fluffer upper!! Think Mother-in-law by Modglin with an insane twist! Ugh my gosh! I read this in under four hours because I couldn't believe the emotions it caused and how badly I had to know what was going to happen next. I was hooked, sunk & drowned in this messed up psychological thriller with no release until Trope was done with me.

Mყ 𝐒ყɴ𝐨ρѕιѕ: Sarah is struggling. She has a beautiful daughter, Emily, who she loves above nothing else. But she's struggling badly with her mental health and the haunting of "the whisper man" every night. After a particular bad episode with Emily one night, her ex-husband, Gideon, finally has her sectioned away after his fiancée, Charlotte, urges him it's for the best. After a few months, Sarah is with proper treatment and meds and is now trying to get back to a normal life and be back with Emily. But Charlotte is skeptical and doesn't want to lose grip of her husband and step-daughter. Gideon is caught in the middle and with unresolved feelings, he doesn't know what or who to believe. But soon, it will all come to a head for the sake of Emily and it will be far more sinister than anyone could believe.

As things begin to unfold 3/4 of the way through; truths revealed, deceit unraveled, I had an inkling of what was to come at the very end. And even though I knew, I still loved how well Trope doled it out! She's a master and mind pretzel twists and this one has to be her best and my favourite! Spine tingling, heart racing and suspense to the brim of a wine glass with this knock out!

Imagine hearing a whispering voice telling you everything is your fault.

Imagine being the former spouse to a woman who is hearing voices.

Imagine being the five year old daughter to the mother losing her mind.

Imagine being the current wife and having to deal with the Crazy" ex.

That is this book in a nutshell plus a whole lot more.

I liked the characters and how they were portrayed. Some twists I saw coming and some I didn't

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

I absolutely love this one. I would give it 4.5 stars our of 5. I only didn't give it 5 stars because i guess the ending pretty much half way. But the book was well written. I would recommend this one for fast read.

This is a very quick and easy read, but unfortunately I found it to be very repetitive and so slow that I failed to engage with the characters or the plot. Very predictable, very easy to work out what was happening, so unfortunately this is just 2 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance e review copy.

“Can you come and help us please, Daddy? Mummy says the whispering man is back and she’s scared.”

Remember Sports Day every June when you were in elementary school? I’ll bet you played tug-of-war! Aussie author, Nicole Trope has set the stage for a winner takes all game of tug-of-war between her characters. On one end of the rope is Sarah, Gideon’s former wife and on the opposing team, at the other end of the rope, is Charlotte, Gideon’s present fiancee. Both have a tight grasp of the rope, their feet firmly planted on the ground and have absolutely no intention of walking away a loser.

Trope, an auto-read author for me, skillfully keeps readers engaged and guessing until she unveils her signature twist towards the end of the story. From the first sentence, she takes readers on a journey with her characters as they struggle to protect themselves and their loved ones. She brings them to the point where they ponder what they’d do in the same situation before she reveals why her characters behave the way they do. Readers will be wrapped up in the manipulation, fear and exasperating antics in this riveting read as each wife struggles for control of Gideon’s attention.

Trope deftly explores the motives that drive people and the masks they wear as they take steps to protect loved ones. She highlights anxiety, loss, manipulation and divorce.

This fantastic psychological thriller needs to be on your reading list this summer!

I was gifted this advance copy by Nicole Trope, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

His Other Wife
by Nicole Trope

Wow, this book had my full attention. I loved how it knew or hoped she was not insane. It was a great read. I was just sorry it ended. But, what a great ending.

Lots of great twists and turns that leave you guessing until the end!
Gideon and his ex-wife Sarah co-parent their young daughter Emily. However, Sarah has been in and out of mental hospitals, struggling to get rid of the "whispering man" who talks to her and comes out at night. Gideon's new wife, Charlotte, isn't a fan of Sarah and her instability and tries to push Emily away from Sarah.
Lots of family conflict in this book, but there's also a lot of suspense that keeps you guessing. Sarah has a friend from the mental hospital who won't leave her alone, and that along with her shaky past leaves her narrative very unreliable.
The twist at the end was not what I was expecting and left me jaw-dropped on the last page.

Another fun thriller by Nicole Trope. I did guess a lot of the twists, but I still enjoyed it. I’m on board to read everything this author writes!

Two wives. Who to believe?! Maybe neither? This was a super fun read! Telling the story from the vantage point of three
Different people was a smart decision by this author. At one point or another I was slightly skeptical of them all. Fast paced, fresh and a perfect beach read! The element of psychological suspense was the perfect juxtaposition to the seemingly perfect family!
Thanks for the advance copy - will be looking for more from this author!

A gripping plot. Could guess some of the things happening but it was a bit different than what I thought.

Sarah has some mental health issues, which resulted in her been in a institute for 3 months. During this time the care of her 5 year old daughter was being taken by her ex husband Gideon, and his
new wife Charlotte.
Once Sarah is back, Charlotte is not too welcoming of the fact that she has to share a joint custody with Sarah. It's all a matter of time before skeletons coming out its a heart racing finish.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC

This is a quick and twisty read filled with unreliable narrators. The story is told from 3 POVs- Sarah, who was recently institutionalized for mental illness, her ex-husband, Gideon, and Gideon’s new wife, Charlotte. All are fighting for the safety and happiness of Sarah and Gideon’s daughter Emily.

It was difficult to tell who was telling the truth as Sarah grapples with strange things happening that cause her and her loved ones to think she may not be as healthy as she is letting on. Charlotte seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Emily, but is she just looking out for her? And poor Gideon is stuck in a love triangle as he tries to support both the women in his life.

I had an inkling of what might really be going on but I was only partly right, as the full story was even twistier than I had anticipated, with a few big surprises. The story moves at a fast pace the entire way through and caused me to change my mind a few times as to what was really happening. The ending did leave a few unanswered questions, which is not my preference, but didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Overall this was a quick and fun read and I’d recommend it to those who enjoy psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah spent 3 months in a mental health facility due to extreme insomnia and depression that caused her to break down. Now she's thrilled to be home. Her focus is on staying healthy and being with her 5-year-old daughter as much she can. But she soon starts hearing the same sounds at night that that led to her insomnia. Meanwhile, her husband’s new wife is making her question her recovery.

This story is filled with the type of crazy, manipulating characters you love to hate. Told through multiple points of view, this book will keep you guessing until you’re near the end.

This was my first book I’ve read by this author and it definitely won’t be my last! Excellent book about divorce, blended families, and all the dynamics associated with such. This book was told from three viewpoints… Sarah, Gideon, and Charlotte. I thought there was very good character development with all three. The use of curse words was kept to a minimum. The author did a great job with describing the different homes. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say that this book kept me guessing until the end. Time to order some more books from this author! Thank you net galley, the publisher, and the author for an advanced copy of this book.

Trashy popcorn thriller lovers, unite and read this book! It’s not mind-blowing, it’s not brilliant, it’s not even very thoughtful, but it is entertaining.

This book is about three people: Gideon, his ex-wife, Sarah, and his new wife, Charlotte. Gideon and Sarah split up when she was having mental health issues, and then he met Charlotte - the exact opposite of his ex. They married, and the three began coparenting Gideon and Sarah’s daughter, Emily.

The problem is, one of these people is crazy. Totally batshit crazy. The book keeps you wondering who as it goes along, written from the viewpoints of these three. Sarah has brutal insomnia, and has hallucinations of a “whispering man” who is out to get her. Charlotte is a perfectionist, a woman who can’t stand not having control over everything in her life. Gideon … well, he may still be in love with Sarah. This triangle has a lot of drama.

This was a super fast read, as it was very simple. There are lots of twists and turns, but they were pretty predictable. Overall, I was entertained by this book, but I was at times rolling my eyes at how unrealistic the whole story was. This drops my rating from four stars to three. I think I’m an outlier with that rating, but I just didn’t find this book to be anything special. If you’re looking for a fun, mindless read, this is your book though!

Poor Gideon didn't want to leave his first wife Sarah but she made it plain that she didn't want him in her life anymore. Sarah had suffered a miscarriage and it had badly affected her mental health so much so that Gideon was caring for their daughter Emily along with his new partner Charlotte. Charlotte adored Emily and would love to be her full-time mum especially since Gideon had told her that he didn't want any more children. Gideon was determined that he would share custody of Emily with her mum and wanted Sarah to get better so it could be achieved. Charlotte had different ideas, which would see their lives spiraling out of control with terrible consequences. I loved the story, it's a brilliant psychological thriller and definitely worth 5*.

Sarah has suffered a number of losses. Her unborn child, and then her parents. She is too afraid to sleep in case something happens to her beloved child, Emily. She begins to hallucinate and hears who she calls "The Whispering Man" threatening her and her child.
She drove her husband, Gideon away, although she still loved him.
Gideon meets Charlotte who is seemingly the perfect wife.

One night, Emily calls her father in a panic, and Gideon finds her and Sarah in the closet, hiding from the Whispering Man.

Sarah is committed to a private clinic, and Emily lives with Charlotte and Gideon. Charlotte steps into the role of Mother as though she was born to it.

Sarah comes home and has supervised visits with Emily, and then is allowed to have Emily sleeping over one night at a time..... and then the Whispering Man makes a reappearance.

The twists and turns in this novel are tremendous. You distrust Charlotte immediately because she is insanely jealous of her husband's first wife.

I loved the creepiness of this book, the hair on my arms stood up whenever the Whispering Man made his presence known...When Sarah went to the window to check, I expected her to come face to face with the monster.

The ending was WOW, I never expected it.

I like Nicole Trope's books, she is very talented in the psychological thriller genre.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This book was just okay for me. It actually didn't pick up until about the last third of the book. It was predictable and I was able to figure out early what was going on so the few twists were not surprises. I just felt like it was a typical psychological thriller.
