One of those books you read mainly to find out what happens, but also consider giving up on a lot. The lead makes so many silly decisions. The last 20% saved it for me. Worth a read though.

I am a huge fan of Samantha Hayes and have read and loved all her books. This is another cracker, poor Leah thought she had moved on from her abusive marriage only to find her husband Craig moving in next door with his new girlfriend.
I was outraged on Leah's behalf, Craig was a total sociopath who was succeeding in alienating Leah from her friends and family. I got more and more angry as the story went on! However, there were plenty of twists and turns and things weren't always what they seemed.
Very enjoyable domestic noir.

The Queen of psychological thrillers does it again.
Leah has moved to her happy place with her two children after her divorce she needed a new start.
When she meets her new neighbours she's shocked to find out that it's her ex husband whose moved in with his new partner. What follows turns Leah's dream into a nightmare.
A brilliant read filled with many twists and turns that kept me hooked till the end.

I’ve always loved Sam‘s books, and I was so delighted that I got to review this, and I was not disappointed in the least! I loved it! Kept me guessing right till the end, what an ingenious plot that just didn’t let go till the final page.

Loved the dark v light cover. Very synonymous with that which I was to face between the covers. Very intense thriller. Twists and turns which kept me guessing. Well written and thoroughly enjoyed.

The Ex-Husband is extremely fast paced, edge-of-your-seat kind of read. Very light and easy to breeze through. The plot twists and turns throughout which keep you pressing on to the very end. The ending tied everything up nicely, and while not too jaw dropping, it was satisfying.
I thought it was intoxicating, intriguing, and simply an unputdownable story.

Bookouture,
Thank you for this eARC!

The Ex-Husband is a super intense thriller full of twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat! A little too intense for me at times, but a satisfying ending!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC of The Ex-Husband by Samantha Hayes.

Leah finally escapes her abusive, volatile marriage from her husband Craig and is moving on with her life. She loves her new home she shares with her two children and has managed to finally start dating again. She feels like she could even possibly become friends with her new neighbor Gillian. Until the night she meets Gillian's husband, Craig. How did her ex-husband find out where she lives and is this just a coincidence that he is now her neighbor?

Wow, I feel like I just watched an episode of Fear Thy Neighbor on the Investigation Discovery Channel. Such a surreal feeling of what a nightmare it can be having your worst enemy as your neighbor. My anxiety was through the roof with this and I kept wondering how much more can Leah take. Definitely one of the more nerve-wracking and frustrating books I have read recently. I wasn't crazy about the ending but as a whole, this was a great read that I would recommend to readers that love a good domestic thriller.

What a read that was!
I found myself getting really angry with the ex-husband and trying to imagine what i would do if i was in Leah's position.
I was constantly surprised at various outcomes as totally not what i expected to happen.

A great story, well worth reading with lots of OMG moments.

Thanks to the the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in return for leaving my honest review.

My Review:
Wow, just wow!!!!! I’m speechless and shocked!!!!! This author is one of my favorites and this book proved why. I absolutely loved this dark and twisted book. Who wouldn’t with a plot twist like this. I kept thinking what would I do if I was in this woman’s shoes and my ex husband moved right next to me. Would I go crazy and mad? I think I most definitely would lose my mind. What I loved most about this book was how it had me guessing the whole way though. I had no idea what was going to happen from one minute to the next. This read had so many twists and turns. Also, I loved how each character fit together perfectly with one another to make such a great book. Characters can either make or break a book but in this case they definitely made it. I can’t wait to read more of this authors books.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The book was ok. I actually wrote very similar feedback for another book by the same author - 'Single Mother'. In both books, there is far too much boring detail about house renovations at the start, I think the author might want to write a DIY manual instead of psychological thrillers!

After wading through the dull house stuff, there is actually a good story here and the second half was a massive improvement. I found myself gripped and really wanted to find out what was going on. The twists and turns towards the end were clever and interesting. I wasn't a fan of the dialogue - particularly between Leah and Gabe the conversation was cheesy and stilted.

Overall there was a good story to be told here but in my opinion the execution could have been better.

This is another fabulous thriller by Samantha Hayes.
I’ve loved all of her other books which meant I was expecting a lot from this book. It certainly didn’t disappoint. It’s fast paced, unique and has lots of twists and turns.
It’s definitely a 5 star read and one I’d recommend.

#TheExHusband #NetGalley
EVOCATIVE STORY.
Well, this is my fourh Hayes novel after Date Night, Single Mother, Blood Ties and now this one. I enjoyed reading this one but it was kind of predictable suspense. Samantha Hayes tried to write like ALAGIRI BURKE & CAROLINE KEPNES. But it was good not a masterpiece.
Leah is happy because she's found a house in which she can move with her children leaving her abusive ex Husband,, Craig behind but is it that simple.
After sometime, new neighbour moved in her neighbourhood and it's her ex husband and soon he started his old tricks to make her life worse than hell.
Who will win in this dirty fight? Although the writing was evocative but the suspense was predictable.
It's. a fun read and could be read one time.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Book: The Ex-Husband
Author: Samantha Hayes
Publisher: Bookouture
Pub Date: June 28, 2022

This was a fast and easy read. The author did a great job making you hate the ex husband. The writing was very good at evoking strong emotions. That said there were parts that I didn’t care for - no spoilers here - parts that I thought could have been left out that wouldn’t have affected the story. Most stories like this are predictable and this was. But it was still a good read.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this sneak peak! Publication date is June 28, 202

You fall in love. You get married and you are blessed with lovely children. How you wish your husband was still the person you married, but unfortunately you just have to leave.

After a while you find a house you can turn in to a home for you and your kids. You have turned the page and are ready to start writing a new chapter.

You don’t get a lot of time before the one thing you long to do is run. Run as far away as possible…

But you are stronger now, aren’t you and you are determined to fight back. This is one war you intent to win. You are David. He is Goliath. Will history repeat itself and will the giant be defeated? I know who I am rooting for.

This story forces me to face some harsh realities. I once again realise how hard and cruel some people can be towards others and finding joy in it which is even more disgusting.

Some people betray loved ones, because they are seeking something for themselves. Some betrayal hurts beyond everything thinkable. You can burn bridges and you can rebuild them again eventually. Some are beyond repair though and I totally understand that. I would throw away the building materials too.

A very good story with a few shocking surprises. 5 stars.

Thank you

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. IYKYK, my reviews are always honest.

2.5 rounded up

Writing: 3/5 | Plot: 2.5/5 | Ending: im confusion/5

THE PLOT

Leah thinks she's free from her abusive ex-husband until BLOOP he moves into the home next door. Unsurprisingly he starts wreaking havoc, but when he pops up dead, everyone's secrets are at risk of being exposed.

MY OPINION

I'm gonna be honest, Samantha Hayes has joined Alafair Burke as my guilty pleasure author. You might be like HUH??? With a 2.5??? Yes... I know. But like I said, it's a GUILTY PLEASURE. Like Selling Sunset and Love is Blind, you know you shouldn't enjoy it, but yet you do? Objectively, I know this is not a literary masterpiece, but nonetheless I was entertained.

I've now read three Hayes novels including this one. [book:The Trapped Wife|58347340] was so hard to rate because I was so confused but that ending was banger!! And [book:Date Night|52757344] blindsided me again with a shocking twist. Out of the three, the Ex-Husband had the least shocking twist... or did it? I still don't know how to feel about those final couple of paragraphs and what that means in the grand scheme of things. If you read this, slide in my DMs. Because if she's saying what I think she's saying... game changer.

Hats off to Hayes for creating a truly unlikeable ex-husband. Everything Craig did is FIGHT TALK. I want to engage in a physical altercation of fisticuffs with him. I would love to kick him straight in the chest and watch his shoulders clap together like a standing ovation. I swear I'm not violent...

Like I said, this is the equivalent to a gossip magazine. If you want a breezy read on a Saturday afternoon, pick this up. This is your typical commercial domestic thriller with affairs galore, shallow characters, and cheap thrillers. It just didn't annoy the shit outta me because none of the characters were supposedly educated psychologists acting a fool for some dick.

PROS AND CONS

Pros: easy read, entertaining, final couple of paragraphs had me like WAIT A DAMN MINUTE

Cons: avg writing, one affair was particularly yucky, i wanted to fight Leah's "friends"

I loved the trapped wife by this author so was excited to now read the ex husband. Well Samantha Hayes has done it again….another unputdownable book! Clever, twisty, and altogether spine-chilling! This book had intrigue, suspense, drama, and a decent storyline! There were definitely some twists and turns , I definitely recommend reading this book! Its well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! Look forward to Samantha’s next book!

Leah is finally able to get away from her husband Craig after her divorce. She is now happily settling into a new house with her two children. A new neighbor named Gillian moves in next door and they become fast friends. While attending a party at Gillian's house, she finds out that Gillian’s partner, who now goes by the name Rex, is really her ex-husband Craig. Now as her neighbor, Craig does whatever he can to ruin Leah's life going forward.

This was another great book by Samantha Hayes. I've read many of her books and she always has a surprise or two in store for you. This was no exception. There was a big twist close to the end of the book that I really didn't expect and that was quite shocking. If you are looking for a new thriller, I would add The EX-HUSBAND to your list for a quick and very entertaining read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
