Leah is ecstatic to have a clean start from her abusive ex husband after finding the perfect, cozy home to move into with her two children. she enjoys fixing up her garden, the kids have acclimated, & she has even started seeing a new man.

all is going well, & things get even better when Leah sees a young woman moving in next door. after meeting her new neighbor, Gillian, for coffee, Leah is excited for their potential friendship.

but this desire for neighborly friendship is quickly diminished when Leah realizes that her new neighbor is none other than the partner of Craig, her ex husband. from the moment they are reacquainted, Leah becomes a mass of emotions. she is terrified, angry, & distraught at the idea of her ex husband living next door.

as the story goes on, Craig does little things to antagonize Leah & play with her head from afar; things as insignificant as stealing her garbage pail, to manipulating the kids into living with him & changing their schools. in true abusive form, Craig does everything in his power to alienate Leah from her family & friends, & she reacts in a way that is expected, but sadly makes her look the part of crazy ex.

this story has some bizarre twists at the end. i didn’t love them, tbh. i really enjoyed the premise of this story & was intrigued at the beginning, but I found myself getting so annoyed with all the characters. Leah is absolutely a victim of abuse, but she put herself in danger for no reason so many times, & did so many stupid things..it was infuriating to me.

i felt like I was watching one of those movies where you want to scream at every character the whole time for being so easily fooled by the villain. there was also some confusion in the wrapping up of the story for me, & I thought one specific concluding factor was completely unrealistic. idk. could definitely see this being made into a lifetime movie. i think I would’ve enjoyed this more if the main character was given a little more power, & if the ending wasn’t so drawn out. i was ready to love this one, but unfortunately it just wasn’t my fave 🤷🏼‍♀️

thank you to @netgalley & @bookouture for this #advancedreaderscopy!

This was a great popcorn thriller! I really enjoyed all the twists and turns and read it in just 2 sittings. I don't want to give anything away but I think it would be really difficult to predict the plot for this one!

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. This was a great read from beginning to end, it kept me guessing and I certainly was not prepared for the ending, I would definitely recommend this book.

Dark physcological thriller, I loved the writing style and the characters, it is a lock all the doors and windows type of book, I was enthralled from the start a real page turner. I will definitely be looking out for more from this author. Highly recommend reading this. Thank you bookouture and netgalley for this ARC. This is my honest opinion 5/5 stars

definitely a interesting book and a great storyline with wonderful characters. the only con I found was that there was a lot of filler and some scenes seemed dragged out but I enjoyed it anyway

This one was really fast paced, twisty and had the unreliable narrator trope we’ve all become familiar with.

I believe the author did a great job portraying a horrible ex-husband, Craig was mean, vile and he made me feel sick at some parts

Overall, it was an enjoyable read, I think some thriller lovers out there will really like this one while others might find it to be an average kind of book…I think I’m more inclined to the latter.

✨ Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for providing an eARC of this book in exchange of an honest review. All opinions are my own.✨

I love twisty thrillers and psychological horror. The premise of this book is extremely up my alley. But unfortunately, I just can't with this... the quality of the writing is abysmal.

Leah looks forward to starting her life over after a messy divorce. Then her husband moves next door. Strange things start happening and everyone begins to question Leah's sanity.

Didn't care for this book. The psychological thriller aspect here was the gaslighting of Leah by her ex-husband, juxtaposed against missing people and an unidentified body. The plot was inconsistent and it was difficult to track who was doing what. Don't recommend.

The Ex-Husband by Samantha Hayes is a unpredictable psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns to keep you engaged. Leah is restarting her life away from her abusive ex-husband, when suddenly, she sees her ex-husband at the house next door. It can’t be, the next door neighbor had said that her partner was named Rexie, and Leah’s ex-husband was named Craig. Unbelievable or not, they are one and the same. What follows is a lot of drama, and a true nightmare for Leah. This book is a rollercoaster of events, and one that I couldn’t put down. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good psychological thriller. It kept me guessing.

Dark and thrilling - a real physiological thriller. You think you have it figured out but no your head is spun in a different direction. Unputdownable with great twists.

Samantha Hayes does a great job of describing a vengeful ex. There are triggers galore as Leah escapes her ex husband Craig, settling into a little carriage type house to a larger property. She even likes Gillian, the woman who moves in next door, and she thinks they'll be great friends. Until she finds out who Gillian's partner is.

Craig still wants Leah back. And it's hard for Leah to resist, because when he turns on the charm, she almost gives in. He charmed her mother, who tries to get them back together. He even charmed Leah's new boyfriend Gabe into doing his bidding. I think Craig even charmed me, because at times I was wondering if Leah was an unreliable narrator.

There are some harrowing moments that lead up to the end, and the epilogue was so satisfying I wanted to cheer!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance reader's copy. Samantha Hayes never disappoints!

When you break free from your abusive ex and find a home, a career, safety it’s a real bummer when your psycho ex-husband moves in next door. You thought you had escaped your past. He’s not going to let you go.

Another great read by Samantha Hayes!

Leah thinks she has a new life after a rough divorce but all of that gets upended when her ex-husband moves in next door. So many of the characters frustrated me at times but I think that's the point since Leah was gaslit for most of the book. This book wasn't bad, I found many of the reveals towards the end to be quite thrilling. Thanks for the advance review copy.

I enjoyed most of this story.

It’s not something that I would specifically look for usually because there are some trigger warning involved ,but again, no real life is perfect and these things can happen to anyone we know without even realising.

I was invested in finding out why her ex husband moved next door and even why some of the characters were so blinded by the truth. I think the author has done a great job in mixing character traits that makes you stop and think about them.

I have to say that many times, her inner monologue were a bit too much to deal with, too overthinking, less facts , and while these are perfectly fine and reliable , it gets boring at times to read on and on about it.

Overall this is a story that many domestic thrillers readers will enjoy.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy and my spot in the blog tour.

This book was extremely fast paced and had me gasping in shock many times! The twists were insane and continued to shock me right up to last page!

WTAF did I just read? That was one helluva twisted, dark and bumpy ride we were taken on.

If all of Hayes books are as good as this one, I need to read them!

I don't know where to start, the premise sounded intriguing, when I started reading I was sucked right in, and just had to keep reading. Fast paced from beginning to end The Ex Husband is gripping, exciting and definitely a page turner.

The characters were well written and entirely plausible. I think many of us have met a Craig at some stage. An awful man. Leah was unpredictable so I couldn't tell which way she was going to go. It made for more exciting reading.

The location descriptions were vivid and I could picture each scene playing out. Leah's house sounded idyllic with its secret walled garden, until her ex husband moved in next door.

Thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

Having read previous releases by this author, I had high expectations for 'The Ex-Husband.' Samantha Hayes has the skill to engage her readers from start to finish, and this latest release is no exception. This was everything I was hoping it would be and much more.

With a captivating, shocking beginning, through to the dark, tense conclusion, this is a great read for psychological thriller fans. Filled with powerful and dramatic scenes, this twisted storyline is very impressive and became a quick read for me, as I struggled to put it down!

Superb characters, created with depth, and realism, this may be an unpopular opinion, but my favourite of all of them has to be Craig. I enjoyed being able to scrutinise his personality and character as he exhibits more disturbing behaviours than most, he became the character that I simply loved to hate. All characters are extremely well written, adding to the appeal and entertaining element of this read.

I recommend this to all fans of this genre, and if this author is new to you - you are in for a treat.
