These "secrets" (from the authors) didn't really feel like secrets to me. I enjoyed the anonymous secrets much better than the carefully curated, long-winded stories from the authors. I don't listen to their podcast and this hasn't helped me decide I want to. Two stars, only because I was mildly entertained by some of the anonymous secrets. Also, is the general public really this raunchy in real life?
The title of this book intrigued me! I have never heard of the Lady Gang before but I will definitely be checking out their podcast after reading this book. I found the the overall concept of the book liberating and loved reading a majority of the stories - some were a bit tougher for me to get through but I would totally read a sequel to this book!
Who I would recommend to read this book: Anyone who doesn’t have a lady gang of their own and want to know that you are not alone in making mistakes, failures or sometime even bad choices. Better yet if you do have a lady gang - read this book together!
Thank you Netgalley and Rodale Books for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This book just wasn't for me. Full disclosure, I'm not a big Podcast person and have never listened to the Ladygang podcast. I liked the synopsis of this book, which sounded very empowering. I do think that the intent behind this book is pure and that the authors/podcast hosts did set aside significant moments to discuss how letting go of these secrets can be freeing and help us shed some of the internalized shame we've been holding alone. However, the writing style just really wasn't the kinda that I enjoy. As with other books I've read from podcast hosts, the "voice" of this work felt very conversational but in an overblown and exaggerated way. This wasn't as much a problem with the fan-submitted confessions, which I found more enjoyable overall. There were also a few confessions submitted by fans that...felt more enabling than liberating. Just not my cup of tea.
While I enjoyed the book, I do wish that there were more stories from the three hosts of The Ladygang and less read-submitted stories. I enjoy their podcast because if their stories and personalities, so the book being mainly reader stories was a bit of a surprise.
This book promised Lady Secrets and it delivered! Some of the stories were hilarious! I laughed out loud so many times. My husband kept asking me what was so funny
Loved this book! The stories were so raw, real, and at times emotional. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
I really liked the stories in this book and they reminded me of stories I used to read in Cosmo during my teen years. I didn't find a whole lot that could be seen as raw confessions, however it does play into the current women's right consciousness of our times. I think organization was a bit of an issue for me because they seemed to be categorized, however did not really stick to the what the subsections. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley. I felt that the voices were unique and relatable.
This was just the escape I needed. I have been listening to their podcast for years. I loved this. It was a super quick read and just what I needed.
I enjoyed these short tales! Some kinda serious, most amusing. Now I'll have to look into their podcast, and the other book. More, please!!
Genuinally loved this book! All women should read this as I laughed and found it very relatable! I loved how some were more serious and some were meant to entertain. A must read.
Hilarious & shocking stories of (anonymous) women admitting their most scandalous secrets to the world. Most of the stories are pretty short but some of them are real lengthy & wordy (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). As women, we all have ridiculous secrets that we keep while we stumble through adulthood, so it was fun to read this book. The creators have a podcast (LadyGang) which I’ve since started listening to also. Thanks to NetGalley & the publishers for this advanced reader copy.
I love listening to their podcast. The stories were funny and I had to read it all in one sitting. I can’t wait to read the next volume.
This was fun for podcast listeners and just anyone who is a little bit of a snoop. Fun to just pick and pop through the book.
The Ladygang's thoughtfully curated collection of essays was witty and frankly hilarious. A fun, laugh out loud read - that often times reflected my inner most thoughts, sentiments that we only admit to ourselves, or to our most trusted of friends. A balance of shocking, humourous, relatable, and embarassing moments that stirred up some some of my very own repressed memories and experiences. I definitely will recommend this to friends and will start to become a more frequent podcast listener! It also would be the perfect book club book- especially if you ask people to blindly submit some of their own confessions and/or embarassing moments. Can't wait to try it!
Thanks to Netgalley and Rodale Books for the advance readers copy in exchange for a fair review.
Loved this second book by my favorite podcast hosts, The Ladygang. This one was raw, hilarious, and relatable. A fun one to sprinkle in between your more serious historical fiction, thriller and romance novels. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of the podcast, loves relatable women content, and likes to laugh.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Every lady has a secret. A secret so humiliating, embarrassing, scandalous, or disgraceful that you haven’t told a soul—not your closest friends, family, lovers, or doctors. There is so much shame surrounding hiding secrets, and, frankly, enough is enough.
The truth is, there is power and freedom in releasing those dirty little secrets out into the big, bad universe. It gives you that same sweet relief as taking off an underwire bra at the end of a long, crappy day. That’s why Keltie Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jac Vanek—hosts of the LadyGang podcast—set their secrets free: the good, the bad, and the diarrhea. The LadyGang wanted to offer their large and loyal community a chance to join them in exposing the messy truths of their lives, and so, Lady Secrets was born: confessional essays from the trio themselves and an incredible crowdsourced collection of secrets from other ladies around the world. Secrets ranging from silly little white lies to cringey misadventures to soul-baring truths. And as it turns out, exposing your deepest and darkest helps you realize that we are all way more alike than we could have ever imagined.
Everyone seems to have a bizarre body malfunction, a hookup gone terribly wrong, and a soul-crushing experience that haunts them forever. And maybe that elaborate revenge plot you carried out against your cheating ex was actually kind of badass (in spite of being slightly illegal). It’s time we stop feeling ashamed of our (un)ladylike habits and own the real, raw, and ridiculous things that make you authentically you.
I enjoyed this collection of stories from both Keltie, Jac and Becca, as well as a group of anonymous stories from their fans.
In the book the authors share some of their most deeply held secrets, heartbreaks and embarrassing moments -- the things women are often too ashamed to admit out loud. Full of emotional vulnerability, it was a moving, sometimes sad and sometimes laugh out loud relatable read. Some of these secrets resonated with me deeply from the quote of "Sometimes just being alive is fucking hard...You could take all the anti-depressants and go on all the wellness trips and master all the yoga poses and still feel fucking broken inside. And that's okay" to "The brutal truth is that the world can be heartbreakingly awful to women....As women we have become so comfortable with grinning and bearing very painful parts of life, we learn at a very young age to just stuff it down, pretend it doesn't exist and move on with our lives." We have all been there or know someone who has. #ladysecrets#keltieknight #netgalley #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #litsy #thestorygraph #essays #bookqueen #bookstagram #amazonaustralia
Let me start by saying: I love the LadyGang and have followed their journey since episode 1 with Ali Fedotowsky. I am an OG. I listen twice a week. I watched the tv show. I've purchased merch. And read their first book. I am a fan of this trio. This book was not it. The stories of the lady gang community were cute. They were short and sweet and could have been a series on the podcast on the Quickie episodes. In fact, they read some "secrets" on episodes while this book as getting created. However - the stories that came from the ladygang leaders were filled with many words, but felt like they were lacking substance - except for Becca's. If you are going to tell me a secret - tell me a secret. These three women have been so open and honest from day one, when this idea was announced for their next book I thought "what in the world are they going to share; they share everything" and that's how the stories felt - like they were reaching to create a story. I was just underwhelmed and found myself going "when is this book going to end." The stories that were submitted, were cute and silly, but not worth the time of this book. With that being said, I will read the next LG book because that's what fan do! But this felt like a handful of podcast episodes that were trying entirely too hard to be a book. Sorry!! Still a fan!
I absolutely loved this book. It definitely made me feel less alone with all the weird things that happen to my body, embarrassing stories that either happen to me or involve me, and it was truthfully just a good laugh. In a weird way, this is a good book to keep by the toilet to entertain guests (or yourself) when duty calls.
I really loved this book. The stories were pretty funny and truly wild. I enjoyed how it was broken up into short sections so it was easy to pick back up every time.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review! As a LadyGang listener, I was excited to read the book that Keltie, Becca, and Jac had been working hard on for so long and have enjoyed the sneak peeks we got on the podcast. I loved the idea of confessing/offloading long held secrets to rid ourselves of shame. The stories that were told were hilarious, cringeworthy, and at times, heartbreaking. I absolutely loved the quirky artwork throughout! I do wish that we got more from the authors and less from the anonymous LadyGang community, but that is because I prefer memoirs to essays.
