Former Delta Operative Colt Kingston knows when someone is lying. He may not know the truth, but he sure doesn't trust Tae, the woman who is caring for his ailing father at Sky King Ranch. Behind those beautiful blue eyes, he can tell there is a troubled--and smart--woman
A few of her stories prove true--he's found the crashed plane and the dead body inside. Still, her story of survival seems too incredible to believe . . . until the thugs she claims to be hunting her show up and threaten Sky King Ranch. Now Tae must disappear, along with her secrets.
But Colt's not about to let her go it alone. And when they discover that her secrets include the antidote to a plague that threatens the world, it'll take all three Kingston brothers to save the country they've vowed to protect.
This is the third book in the Sky King Ranch series. I would suggest you read the first two books before reading this book. All three brothers must come together in trying to protect the ranch and each other. As well as, protecting national security. This is a fast-paced book that I couldn't put down. I highly recommend it.
I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sundown is book 3 in the series and I recommend reading them in order as the characters from the first two books play a major role in this one. There was a lot thrown into this book and I was hoping for more from Colt and Tae’s book,
Tae is on the run from the Russian Mafia but also is the only person who can make a vaccine for a very old strain of smallpox (too soon anyone?). Colt is dealing with the fact that his health is deteriorating after being torture on his last mission and can’t sit on the sidelines while they track down the virus. Ranger also plays a huge role even though he had his book and it felt like filler in the storyline. Also, many characters from another series of Warren’s shows up. I read Warren’s books for the suspense and the relationship building, but this one didn’t hit the mark.
Note: I read the Kindle version of the arc and there were no breaks or formatting cues between the changes in POV and scenes. It was even harder to follow the changes due to this.
Thanks to Revell and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC
Sundown is the last story in Warren's Sky King series and we finally get Colt's story. While it was interesting this story just didn't seem to come close to the other two books. I would defiantly recommend reading the other two books before reading this one so you have more background of what is happening when the story jumps in.
One thing that drove me crazy was in the ARC version I received the POV would change without warning, break, or any type of separation which made reading it so very confusing. But I will assume this is going to change in the final edited version.
Sundown is the third book in the Sky King Ranch series. I highly recommend reading them in order.
I enjoyed the first two books in the series, Sunrise, and Sunburst. I was really looking forward to Sundown, but it did not live up to my expectations. I have mixed feelings about the book and will try to explain them. Also, I am reviewing the Kindle edition.
First, I was excited to finally get Colt's story. However, he shares the limelight with his brothers and Tae, with the POV changing between them. I feel Colt got cheated since he didn't get as much coverage as his brothers did. The changing POV was confusing, and in the Kindle version, there was no separation of scenes (you had chapter breaks but no line spaces or anything telling you the POV changed). This got on my nerves. Also, with the changing of perspectives, we got the same conversation twice, especially at the beginning of the book. Once was enough, thank you very much.
Another thing that bothered me was that there were too many coincidences to be believable. Plus, the random changes of topics.
There were some great quotes like this one:
"You don't have to be in charge of everything. I know it's scary, and you hate feeling helpless, but instead of theorizing the end of the story, what if you just...let the story unravel as it should?"
There were some great scenes as well. However, the bioweapon warfare, all the science talk, and the detailed fights were not for me. I am glad I read this one, and it ends nicely, but it was not up to the same standard as the first two (in my opinion).
Thank you to Net Galley and Revell for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sundown is the final novel in Susan May Warren's Sky King Ranch trilogy. Just like the rest of her books, it's fast-paced exciting drama drew me in from the very first page and I couldn't put it down!
His former career as a Delta Operative has left Colt with a healthy distrust for anyone who is even slightly suspicious. Tae, the mysterious woman who has even caring for his father after being found in the Alaskan wilderness, is definitely someone to keep an eye on--and not just because he finds himself hopelessly attracted to her. Her stories don't all seem to add up, but there's a thread of truth behind the seemingly tall tales. When the Russian thugs she's claimed are after her suddenly show up, Tae sees no other option than to disappear and take her secrets with her. But Colt insists on going along, and soon they are neck-deep in a plot that threatens the world with a plague, unless Tae can re-formulate the antidote in time. It will take all of the Kingstons, and a few friends along the way, if they have any hope of saving the country they love.
I've absolutely loved every book in this series. I always enjoy seeing SMW's previous characters show up in new novels, and I was thrilled to see a few of my favourites throughout this series. I've had a soft spot for Colt since reading Sunrise, and have been looking forward to his story ever since. I enjoyed seeing his character grow and find healing from the pain and trauma he's endured. And Tae. The chemistry between her and Colt was fun to read, and I loved her courage and strength alongside her humanity and realistic character. Every page of Sundown was a delight to read. I'm sad to see the series end, but I'll be looking forward to the chance of possibly seeing the Kingstons in a future SMW novel.
Sundown gets an easy 5/5 stars from me. If you enjoy exciting romantic suspense with strong threads of faith and family ties, you won't want to miss this one (and the previous books)!
*I received a complimentary copy of Sundown through the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.
The adrenaline, the romance, and the suspense! I couldn’t get enough! Susan May Warren grabbed my interest from the first page and never let it go. When I wasn’t reading this book, I was thinking about what could possibly happen next. Sundown is the third book in the Sky King Ranch series and I could hardly wait to get my hands on it. I first met the Kingston brothers in Sunrise, and loved them even more after Sunburst. This being the third book I was already in love with the three of them. That being said, this book could easily be read as a stand alone novel as well. You would just miss out on some of the wooing from these handsome heroes.
Colt is the guy who runs towards trouble instead of away from it. But usually it’s in the form of a terrorist, and not a beautiful woman. Tae is obviously keeping secrets, and those secrets might stand in the way of Colt protecting everyone he loves. The three brothers have a history, and grudges don’t die easily. Can they all work together to stop what seems to be unstoppable?
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves military and suspense. Oh yeah and the perfect amount of romance is mixed in as well. Warren is the best, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this series! I definitely recommend reading the other two books before you read this third one. It helps to know and understand the relationships within the Kingston family. Colt and Tae met in the second book, and the brief preview of how they interacted had me eager for this book so I could find out more.
Susan May Warren does not disappoint. Sometimes, with series, the characters get muddled but the focus was on the two main characters without extra storylines from previous characters.
Here it is - the third & final book in this exciting Sky King Ranch series by Susan May Warren.
This series is about three brothers, Dodge, Ranger, & Colt.
This book is Colt's story. I've loved the other two, so I knew I'd also love this one.
Colt has always been the troublemaker, the one who thinks of himself as worth less than the others, and therefore, he has also appointed himself as bodyguard and protector for his family and anyone he loves.
Now he needs to learn to see himself how God sees him. Can he do this while still keeping himself and his loved ones safe?
He's intrigued by Tae, but isn't sure he trusts her. But what better way to get to know her than to go with her as she sets out to "save the world" from the next deadly virus outbreak.
This story is so typical of Susan May Warren. It has so much going on. Action, adventure, danger, mystery, and of course, romance. If you love her other books, you are sure to love this one!

This book is #3 in a series, and I would recommend to read the first two books for more context on each character, when requesting this book on Netgalley this is a detail that I was not aware of. It is also classified as a contemporary romance and while it did include those elements (closed door romance), it also included some action and adventure plots that I found really added to the entire story. I did not however realize that this was a Christian based book, I will not comment on this as that is not my faith, if you agree with these views than I think this book will be more enjoyable to you, however since I don't it did make it less enjoyable for me personally. I really enjoyed the more fast/action paced bits of the book, I enjoyed Colt's character as the "hero" of the story, however Tate's lack of common sense lost her for me, I had a hard time picturing her as a doctor role.
What a great conclusion to this series! I enjoyed the action and the plot twists. It was great seeing all of the brothers together, along with characters from some of the author's other series. I especially appreciated the faith thread.
My thoughts; SUNDOWN is the third and final book in this series, and it was an action-packed read from the first page. This romance packed adventure keeps you guessing. And hanging on for a wild and sometimes scary ride. I enjoyed seeing former characters from other books make camos and catching up with them and I'm glad previous heroes from the first two books got a chance to shine again as they worked with Colt. If you love action-packed romance you will love this series. There is a strong faith message included. Highly recommended. I received a copy free and all opinions are my own.
Sundown is the third and final book in the Sky King Ranch series. Each novel in this series really does pick up where the previous left off, and as such they are definitely best read in order to fully understand and appreciate the story.
Susan May Warren is among my top favorite authors, and for good reason... she certainly knows how to write a larger than life, epic story that you cannot help but be drawn into. Sundown (and the entire Sky King Rach series) is a wonderful example of that. Right from the beginning I was once again drawn right back into the action, and I didn't want to stop reading until the very end. As a fan of Susan May Warren's, I do love how she wove together characters from many of her previous series so we were able to catch up with them a bit more... this connection of worlds is something that she is really great at, and something that I appreciate as a reader. (But if this is the first of her series you're reading, you won't feel lost!)
Overall, I thought this was a fantastic ending to the series. While I am always sad to see a good series end, I'm certainly looking forward to what comes next.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
Sundown by Susan May Warren was my favorite book in the series. It can be read alone but you will miss the development of the characters and some of the plot twists will not be quite as shocking. If you are a fan of Susan’s other series you will be thrilled to see guest appearances of characters from the Montana Marshalls, the Caleb Group and the Jones Inc team.
Colt is one of the triplets and is home healing after being held prisoner. Tae has been healing after a miraculous survival after her plane goes down in Alaska. The Russians are out to get her and end up at Sky Ranch. It takes all of the brothers and a few of their friends to help in this battle.
There were also some great scenes with Ranger who is losing his eyesight and his wife Noemi.
The book reads like it could be a mission impossible movie. I highly recommend if you love an action packed story with romance and family.
Romance - kissing
Violence - nothing disturbing but there is some violence, someone is shot, tied up, and they are out to get Tae through most of the book, and kill people with biological (virus) weapons.
I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to others. I have not read any other books in this series, and this book stood well on its own. I will now be finding other books that relate to this one, because I enjoyed it so much. The Kingston brothers are all learning, growing, and changing in this story. Each one of them is at a crossroads in their lives. Colt, the run into danger first brother, learns so much and grows a lot through the story. I appreciated the wisdom shared with him during his struggle by his father, his brother, and his coworker. Tae struggles with her place in life as well during this story, and she had to learn to trust God for her life and the lives of those she cares about. Filled with suspense, action, emergencies, and romance, this book is sure to draw the reader in for an escape through fiction. It is well written with attention to details and a lot of research that must have happened to bring the story to life.
I requested and received a copy of this book for review. The thoughts and opinions expressed here are wholly my own.
Sundown is the exciting conclusion to Susan May Warren's Sky King Ranch trilogy. The book is edge-of-your-seat suspense and romance from the first page to the last. I loved how fast-paced and exciting the plot was. The main characters, Colt and Tae were intriguing and I found myself cheering them on. I loved how Ms. Warren brought in characters from the previous two books and many of her other series. Best of all she weaves God's forgiveness and redemptive powers through the story. Ms. Warren is in my opinion one of the best authors writing romantic suspense right now.
I was given a copy of Sundown by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.
I was happy to revisit the guys of Sky King Ranch, and they along with the women in their lives were once again living on the edge. The danger this time centered on Colt and Tae, danger from the elements as well as from terrorists. Of course his brothers have their backs and join them in the thick of things.
While I did enjoy this story, I did not enjoy it as much as I did the second book in this series. It lacked the realism of that book which was a distraction, and it was more predictable. That said, it still brought me enough reading pleasure that I feel comfortable recommending it to others. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Sundown from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Fantastic saga of the Kingston family. Triplets each joined a different branch of the military and came back to Alaska, finding love and a new form of danger. This book is Colt’s story, as he and Taylor (Tae), fight Russians to save the world from a viral attack. They struggle through their past, and realize how God is there to support and guide them. It’s a big reality check for our characters and our readers that we are loved and guided, even when it feels like we aren’t. Warren’s books are complete for every reader, with adventure, love (no sex, so it’s perfect for young too), relatable messages and gorgeous scenery. I’m always excited to receive an early copy from this author because I know I’m in for a tremendous ride and an intelligent read.
Oh, my! This book and this series had me captivated from beginning to end. I must admit that I missed the first book in the series, but I have since purchased it and plan to definitely go back and read Dodge’s story. This third book in the series wraps everything up well as it tells the story of Colt Kingston, a man who has yet to feel worthy or accepted in his life. He is still carrying the guilt of being with his mom when she died and blames himself for her death. Enter on the scene a young woman named Tae, a brilliant scientist working on a vaccine against a bio-weapon that is as deadly as it is useful to enemies. The danger that Tae is in is presented so realistically that I thought I was watching a movie in my mind. The action was fast paced and non-stop, changing settings from ice in Alaska to the sunshine state of Florida, with the bad guys always right there. Colt has tasked himself with keeping Tae safe and that is no small chore since he has to almost sacrifice himself to secure her and her vaccine. I enjoyed the way the story unraveled, with lots of layers and plenty of brilliantly written dialogue. The relationship between the brothers is a central theme since they need to find out each other’s strengths and weaknesses in order to work well together. I enjoyed reading about the themes of forgiveness, acceptance, self-discovery and coming to a feeling of self-worth. This is a story that made me tear up a few times, gasp others and even chuckle sometimes. This book had everything that clean romantic suspense should have and the addition of high intensity action that made it a compelling read. This book can be read as a standalone, but my recommendation is to read the series of the Sky King Ranch and the heroes who call it home.

This author never disappoints. This book was once again that I found hard to put down. I really liked how the author made the characters feel real. I loved Tae she really struggled with decisions that she made in her life and she also struggled with her faith after a tragic loss, but she was a fighter and would not stop at anything to fight to change the world and make it a better place. Colt is a fighter and he wants the best but he is struggling with his own demons and just can't seem to get out of his head and into his heart. The story line was well played out and will keep you guessing to the end on what's going to happen next. Overall I loved the main and sub characters and I loved the core value of the story. The author did keep this a clean read and it was well worth it.
