didn’t really like the main characters but the side characters were written better, the overall plot wasn’t very interesting and didnt make me want to continue reading
This is a great witchy/werewolf paranormal read with really well developed characters. There was a very cute YA love and a story with many twists and turns that weren't too predictable. I personally found the beginning to be a bit slow, but other than that the pacing was great. It ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read book 2.
What a fantastic read!
I have missed reading about werewolves and have been really struggling to find a good series, then came along Rachelle Kampen and what a delight as I really enjoyed this read.
I was drawn in from the first chapter, loved the plot and the characters.
Moon Over Hanks Hollow is a werewolf story with magic that follows 16 year old Rosie Hart. I thought the premise was cute, but I wasn't a fan of the book. I would've loved to see Rosie have magical abilities and seen more action in the book. It wasn't for me, but if this sounds like it's up your alley I recommend picking it up.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first book in a new series. For me, this book was just ok. I found it to be sort of demeaning towards women and no one was willing to make attempts to change the system. I may be oversimplifying of course. I liked the "kids" Rosie, Sam and Lucas but the adults seemed horrible. 3 stars
This book was really good I love shifter books so much was definitely a fun and fast read I will be recommending to everyone
I absolutely could not stop reading this book!
The pacing, the characters, the story, it all had me hooked! This book goes by so quickly but I never wanted it to end. As a teen paranormal romance, this was so much more! Rosie is the daughter of a werewolf alpha and a witch. It's a forbidden match that somehow breaks all their rules, giving an alpha a daughter for the first time ever. The council allows her to live to see what she becomes, which ends up being more than they bargained for. She's strong, compassionate, and has a blending of her mother and father's powers in the best kind of ways.
The romance? This is high school, so you expect some drama and this book doesn't disappoint. A pseudo love triangle, lots of fighting and smolder coupled with an added layer of normal/werewolf/witch thrown in for fun. This book starts off what is hopefully a very long lived series. I can't wait for the next book!
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute story with a different take on Werewolves and Witches. There are three separate POVs in this but the characters are easily identifiable.
The romance in this is really sweet and I really can't wait to see how this develops along with Rosie's dealings with the Werewolf council. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Moon Over Hanks Hallow is a brilliant start to a new Young Adult paranormal series. I was thrilled to receive an early copy in exchange for my honest review. I love the storyline, and the unique take on the werewolf and witches stories we all have read. Rosie and Lucas are perfect star crossed lovers and I’m excited to see their relationship develop. The villains are dark and devious, and the complete opposite of sweet Rosie. Im looking forward to book two.
Pack life is hard. It is twice as hard for Rosie. She is the first ever female werewolf, and a witch. When she was born, many thought she should have been killed but that was not her fate. As she comes into the age of being treated as a full member of the pack, other werewolves are not too certain about her place in their world. She is also having typical teenage angst problems that do not help the situation.
Opinion
Its true that I am a sucker for paranormal. I just love to read author's different takes on what we all have some conception of. This one is truly interesting (and infuriating) as women have no place in their pack. (Read it and find out how they continue the lines, you'll be quite mad.) Kampen did offer some hope with Rosie's existence but with the cliffhanger ending, it is uncertain if more calamity will befall her.
The style of writing is smooth. With short chapters, you don't realize that you have been reading for over an hour because it is so easy to become engrossed in the book. With the cliffhanger, I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Victory Editing for providing me with an ARC of this book.
Rosie Hart is an anomaly. A female werewolf who is half witch. She has been raised in a male dominated world. She has been hidden and protected but she has enemies. She has struggled with her empathetic nature in social situations and feels like she is a freak.
My heart bled for Rose as she struggles to find her way. She has a terrific support team in her father, brother and Lucas. But even they must submit to the council. I can’t wait to see how she grows into her gifts and takes on the patriarchy.
A quick and easy read that I enjoyed. I liked the writing, the storyline and the characterisation. I also really liked the riomance eleme t as it was perfectly done for the story
Thank you Netgalley and Victory Editing for allowing me to read and review this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I wasn't too sure what to expect from Moon Over Hanks Hollow but I really like it. The story reminded me of a younger version of Blood and Chocolate, which is one of my favorite werewolf stories.
Rosie Hart is half werewolf half witch and she is the ONLY female werewolf to ever be born. Werewolves and witches used to be able to live in harmony but are now divided. Rosie has to deal with being discriminated as a woman and as half witch. Sam, her older brother, and Lucas, her handsome best friend, have her back and defend her against bullies at school and the wolf pack they live with. Rosie just wants to live as normal as possible but with the Werewolf Council breathing down her and her father's back, they are trying to stay under the radar.
The book brought out a nostalgic side of me. Reminding me of Twilight and werewolf days. I love the writing and how to the point it is. It's been a long time since I've read a werewolf focused story and I highly recommend checking this one out.
The romance is sweet, the characters are intriguing, and I'm ready for the sequel.

4.5 stars
I love anything to do with Werewolves and vampires. Unfortunately this story just didn’t have the pull for me. I was able to anticipate and foresee what was coming, and that spoilt it for me.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this book, and I would recommend it to others. This book was sweet and also different from other werewolf book series I’ve read before. The length of the story was also good. I finished the story in about a weekend, and I am excited to read the next book in the series.
This story follows Rose Hart, who is a high school girl trying to manage being a normal teenager while also being a female in a world of only male werewolves. To make matters even more complicated, Rose is also a witch. Rose is struggling to find her place in this world, while also learning to accept both her werewolf and witch abilities.
When I read the book description about the main character being a female in a world of all male werewolves, I thought that this story would be full of overbearing and demanding guys always telling Rose what to do. For the most part though, the werewolf pack dynamics were more caring than overbearing. They were a family who wanted the best for Rose. I enjoyed the romance of the book and I am excited to see how the next book plays out. Overall, a good read and definitely worth picking up.
I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to see were this series is gonna go in future books. Really hoping the next one comes out soon.
Rose (Rosie) Hart is 16. She’s the only female werewolf in existence and she’s a witch. Her dad, Simon is the pack alpha and her mom Gwen was a witch too, but she died when Rosie was born. Rose has a half-brother named Sam.
Living in the male dominated werewolf world is proving hard for Rosie. She’s also a teenager so she’s dealing with issues “normal” teens face - like parties and boys. Now there’s a hunter prowling the woods behind Hart House and the pack is in danger. Who is responsible?
This is my first book by this author and I was impressed. I’m looking forward to reading the series!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I love a werewolf story, this was enjoyable but a bit predictable. A Nice bit of a warm hearted love story with problems.
An interesting paranormal about shifters and witches. Rosie is a likable heroine.... Young, brave and smart... I like how she meets all the challenges that she faces as she gets older... As a teenager and as werewolf/witch....she certainly has a lot of issues to face... Enjoy this book very much.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
