Excellent mystery. I loved the premise and the surprises throughout. Great character building and plot development.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I have thus far enjoyed Kaneβs books and will continue to read the rest of them! I will recommend this read to others and put this one on display where I work as a public Librarian! Thank you again!

Soooo disappointing after reading ππ³π¦π΅π΅πΊ ππͺπ΅π΅ππ¦ ππͺπ§π¦. I found it to be very similar in concept to The Collective, but without the same execution. I was intrigued by the premise of this one - powerful women serving up their own form of justice to poorly behaved powerful men. Staged to look like accidents, natural deaths, and suicides. As a concept, it sounded exciting but itβs mediocre execution ultimately caused it to fall flat. The ending also was rather predictable. All in all, ππ©π¦ ππ’π΄π΅ ππ―π·πͺπ΅π’π΅πͺπ°π― lacked in suspense and overall wasnβt a particularly thrilling thriller.
Unforunately, and this might be an unpopular opinion, this book did not live up to my expectations. While some parts made me feel a bit more invested, overall, I found it confusing and lacking in details and plot connections.
AS a future attorney, this books was definitely a must-read! I love the two characters Jessa and Gabby and the storylinne was definitely action-packed and suspenseful! I will definitely be reading more from the author!
This was an ok read but the plot about a group of women who decide to execute vigilante justice on men who they deem guilty was so similar to others that Iβve read recently so it didnβt feel fresh or original.
The premise of this book was so strong, but the story didn't have enough to wow me. For dedicated thriller readers, an okay book to pickup. A second round purchase for libraries who don't have an existing standing order or readership.
The Last Invitation is a phenomenal thriller from start to finish. Filled to the brim with twists and a captivating plot, this one is sure to keep readers hooked. The characters are well-developed. The story is incredibly fast-paced. This is one not to be missed! Highly recommended! Be sure to check out The Last Invitation asap.
I read Pretty Little Wife previously, and I'm pretty sure I felt about the same on that one. I wanted to give this author a second chance. I feel as if this is Kane's attempt to re-create the magic that made PLW so well-liked by some. Gabby and Jessa's exchanges are more like teenage bickering than sharp banter. In addition, a group of influential women operates undercover to eliminate villains. There is sexism in the air. Women's intelligence is routinely praised, but their actions contradict this. Positively, the plot moves at a breakneck speed, but unfortunately, I had no interest in the characters or what was happening. I finished because I wanted to be able to give an honest review.
2.5 stars, rounded up.
Thank you to author Darby Kane and William Morrow & Company for this ARC via #netgalley
As this title is published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, I will be withholding my review of the title in support of the HarperCollins Union strike. I look forward to reviewing this title once HarperCollins has met the union at the bargaining table and agreed to a fair contract.
Darby Kane is such a nice person and I have loved her previous books so it pains me to give this less than a stellar review. But this one just missed the mark for me. I tried it both audio and reading it and I wasn't crazy about it in either format. I will absolutely continue to look forward to her book and support her as much as I can. Thank you to publisher/author for my gifted copy.
You know your girl loves a good REVENGE book! πͺ
I completely inhaled this book in one sitting. A female secret society that gets revenge on men. YES PLEASE!! What more could you want in a thriller?! πππΌ
Take your dramamine before reading this one because the twists and turns will leave you motion sickness π΅βπ«π

I am a huge fan of Pretty Little Wife by this author. Itβs still my fav that she has put out. While this one was interesting and unique, it almost gave me The Last Housewife vibes (but better & less sex cult lol)
Overall, it was twisty and kept me flipping through the pages to figure out the ending. I enjoyed the dual perspectives and watching the story unfold and the perspectives come together.
I think Iβd give it 3.5 rounded up.
Enjoyed this very much. Kind of slow at first, but once it picks up speed, hold on! Lots of twists and turns. interesting cast of characters, there are quite a few. Story seems familiar with secret societies and people taking justice into their own hands. What would you do? I was asking myself this question. Will be recommending this one.
I've loved Darby Kane's other two books but sadly this one was not for me. None of the characters were likeable or interesting, there was no mystery, and there was no good explanation about Jessa and Darby's weird friendship and why they hated each other so much.
Accidents. Suicides. A very powerful group of women are dishing out their own brand of justice. They are killing off despicable men one by one. Attorney Jessa Hall is invited to join their secret society. We watch as she battles her inner demons and wonders if being part of this group means selling her soul. This is a twisty read that will have you asking the question, βWho are the good guys?β Thank you NetGalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review. This one gets a thumbs up!
This is my favorite book of hers so far. I really enjoyed the plot of this one! The short chapters helped the book not feel as long. The characters were well done and both of their POVs were interesting.
I wish I had half stars here! I really enjoyed this one because the suspense was off the charts. It also had one of my favorite elements of a thriller... cliffhanger chapter endings! With this element, you truly won't be able to put it down. I thought the setup and characters were just complex enough to be interesting but not too complex to lose me. The author also did a great job of casting suspicion on multiple characters. Overall, if you like a classic thriller that keeps you on your toes, I think you'll like this one too.
This book was a very slow start for me. Im not sure if itβs because I was in a huge slump before starting, or because the pace of the book was just really slow. I did end up really enjoying it after about 70% in. After that I could not put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader copy of this book. I love anything by Darby Kane and this book was no exception. The story is a great unusual plot, but uses some over done twists and family dynamics. Overall I enjoyed the story. 4 stars
