“End of Story” by Kylie Scott is a contemporary romance novel that intertwines fate, humor, and the unexpected twists of life into a narrative that’s as engaging as it is heartwarming. The story follows Susie Bowen, who inherits a charming but dilapidated house from her aunt. Eager to start renovations, she’s thrown for a loop when the contractor turns out to be Lars, her ex’s best friend and a witness to her very public breakup.
The plot thickens when they discover a divorce certificate dated ten years in the future—with both their names on it—hidden within the walls of the house. This discovery sets them on a path of uncovering the truth behind the mysterious document while navigating the undeniable chemistry between them. The situation is complicated by Lars’ friendship with Susie’s ex, adding a layer of tension to their budding relationship.
Susie, as a character, is relatable and endearing. Her lack of a verbal filter and her tendency to land in trouble make for some genuinely humorous moments. Lars, on the other hand, is more than just a brooding presence; he’s a character with depth and surprises of his own.
“End of Story” is a delightful read that combines humor, heart, and a sprinkle of magical realism mystery. It’s a story about taking chances, embracing the unexpected, and finding love in the most unlikely places.
A contemporary romance with a slightly magical twist. Susie had a messy breakup a few months ago and after her aunt's death, she inherits her house. Her ex's best friend - Lars ends up helping her out with the renovation but when they're working on the repairs they find a divorce certificate in a wall with both of their names on it and dated ten years in the future. Both of them are shocked and Lars is suspicious whether Susie is playing a prank on him. But Susie is just as confused as him and while they try to work out it's origins and move past their discovery, they end up growing closer unexpectedly.
Honestly, I loved the story and the main character. The romance was promising too at first but, I just couldn't stand it after the halfway mark when Susie's ex and his mom are still being assholes and Lars doesn't really acknowledge how much of an asshole his friend is. I get that they grew up together as neighbors but why would you still be friends with a man like this, especially when you've seen how he was treating his girlfriend? That made me not like Lars as much as I'd liked at first despite the amazing chemistry between him and Susie. There wasn't any explanation for the magical realism aspect either.

slow burn romance, friends to lovers, opposites attract, he falls first, ex's best friend, a touch of paranormal element, found family, curvy heroine, first person pov, family drama frenemies to lovers
this was a slow-burn romance where Susie is beginning a new life where she wishes to stay away from relationships as her recent ex embarrassed and belittled her constantly adding to the already fragile state of mind she had. When her favorite family member dies and leaves her her new home what else could go wrong? Well, the new contractor that is working on her house is none other than Lars, her ex's best friend. They try to play nice but when they discover through the renovation a divorce document that states that this was their divorce paper with a future date. When were they married? When did they ever date? No way would that ever happen. Right?
the story was ok for me and it may just be my preference but I wish that this book was a dual pov or at some point, I could get Lars's perspective.
End of Story by Kylie Scott is unique, intriguing, opposites attract romance that will keep you hooked to your kindle. You are going to love it.
I couldn't get enough after I finished it and Highly Recommend it to all Readers.
such a fun time. definitely enjoyed although there were certain moments that fell just a wee bit flat. overall definitely a fun read!!
This book was amazing! My first Kylie Scott book and I was blown away. I love the tiny amount of magical things happening, the kind we all wish we had. And can we talk about Lars??? Wow what a man.
If you're looking for a fun rom com that is light with some paranormal aspects, this is a good one to pick up. I thought the concept itself was really good and liked the way it sounded. It did play out a little more skewed towards women's lit than a traditional romance, but the relationship that was built was still great and it ended up being a fun friends to lovers story. It would definitely be a good quick read to lighten things up as there was a lot of humor and fun, as well as a good romance.
Lars and Susie's story is a little bit complicated but very much fun to read. A woman not about earnest commitment and a man in search of exactly that.
But being her Ex's best friend a not a chatterbox Lars is the viking just as he looks like.
Helping her to make her inherited house live worthy they spend a lot of time together. Which almost every time ends in witty banters or confused dialogues.
But a certain event changes everything anew. And after a amount of time the question is, is what they maybe have or not real or forced. And do they even feel something?
Or do they already have an expiration date before they even begin.
A woman who doesn't date, and her ex’s best friend. A journey which makes you laugh, sigh and get annoyed with them. But all worth it. End of story.
Very entertaining fixer-upper rom com with a mystical twist. Lots of fun many romance readers will enjoy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Graydon House for an advanced readers copy of this book.
It's always refreshing to see a new twist on a premise for a romance book, especially if it has a hint of supernatural "something" to it. That's what drew me into this story, and it delivers. There's a little bit of "enemies to lovers," but not in an overt way. The characters are fun and well drawn, and the author doesn't overly depend on the conceit to drive the narrative.
It had been a while since I'd read anything by Kylie Scott, so reading this book reminded me why I enjoyed reading her books so much. This was a really cute story, and the premise was one I had never read before, so that was a nice change.
Lars and Susie had history, but only as friends, since Lars was best friends with her ex. Their relationship progressed so naturally, and add in some angst and drama, and it was right up my alley! Overall, a really cute story that I would definitely recommend.
End of Story is a hilarious, smart, sexy and very unique opposites attract story that I loved. The writing is excellent, so detailed and full of such witty banter that I adored reading. I loved these characters and consumed this story in one sitting. I highly recommend this emotional book.
This was a fine book. It kept my attention and was light and fun but I wasn't overly impressed with anything and it didn't leave much of a lasting impression.
This is my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters. It is an opposites attract romance between Susie and Lars. These flawed but likeable characters, the undeniable connection and chemistry, and the unique plot make for an entertaining read. It is a slow burn love story with steam, drama, humor, twists and turns, and engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. A fun read with heart, heat, and a happy ending.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Valentine PR and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I don't know why, but I did DNF this one. I think something just wasn't clicking at that moment in time for me. It's a shame, as I was really excited to dive into this novel.
This was my first book by Kylie Scott and I just couldn’t get into the plot. I think I wasn’t in the right mood to read it, I may try again later on audio. DNF for now
Susie inherited her aunt's house, and so she obviously used a company to flip the house that she knew did great work. She had requested anyone but Lars to work on her house, but due to a family emergency, Lars is who shows up. Lars just happens to be her ex's best friend, a guy that they had double dated with numerous times. Now things are awkward and uncomfortable, but Susie knows that Lars does great work, so she won't make a big deal. Lars gets right to work and starts tearing things apart, and much to his surprise finds a divorce decree, their divorce decree, dated ten years in the future. Both have their own opinion on just how that got there, of course they each think the other did it. The two are going to get down to the bottom of this mystery. From discussing theories as to why they got divorced to just hanging out, the two end up becoming great friends. But there has to be a line they don't cross, after all they have the proof that more than friends doesn't work for them.
This turned out to be such a cute and quirky story! I really enjoyed Susie and Lars' story. Their banter, the drama, their chemistry that was off the charts and when they did cross that line the hot naughty bits. The side characters were such a hoot, Tore had me cracking up. I give this 4 stars.
I enjoyed this story very much, it was funny and intriguing. The male MC is definitely will be joining my book boyfriend list.
It has a very unique plot twist which kept me guessing all through the book
Synopsis:
Susie Bowen inherits a charming fixer-upper from her aunt. But she opens her door to realize her contractor is her ex's best friend - Lars - the same who witnessed the humiliating break up 6mos ago. Things turn unbelievable when Lars discovers a divorce certificate in one of the walls dated 10yrs in the future with both their names on it. As they work to unravel the origins of it, the impossibility of a park between them suddenly doesn't seem so far-fetched.
Review:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it was sooo sweet! I was a bit hesitant at first with the divorce certificate from the future - that kind of stuff is usually off-putting for me but it played such a small side role that I didn't mind at all! It was a slow burn, as the two main characters try to avoid each other knowing that it will *likely* end in divorce if the certificate means anything. It felt authentic and relatable - and I loved Susie's quirky, fun and sometimes insecure personality. She made me laugh, Lars made me swoon. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Graydon House for the galley!
I normally like fantasy type books, but didn't find it worked well in this one. The cheating trope is always a hard no for me.
