Kylie Scott is an author and I’ve read quite a few books by and enjoyed (if you haven’t tried her yet, definitely check out her Stage Dive series, Famous In A Small Town, and Trust). So when I saw she had a new book coming out, I knew I wanted to try it.

End Of Story had a very different vibe / premise from my previous Scott reads right away. Very cute cover art and an intriguing sounding plot – definitely had a more RomCom feel rather than the Romantic Dramas I’m used to from her. While I thought the premise was very intriguing, you
definitely will need to suspend reality a bit to get into this one.

I’m still a Scott fan – I like her writing and will continue to try anything she writes, but this book wasn’t a perfect fit for me personally. I liked many of the tropes / elements that the story had, but the reasoning behind the whole decree thing did not come together for me and while I was intrigued by the main couple at first I wasn’t as invested as I’d have liked in Susie and Lars.

• RomCom
• Slow Burn
• Friends To Lovers
• Ex’s Best Friend
• Home Renovations
• A bit of ‘suspending’ reality twist

Kylie Scott is one of my favorites. Seriously. If you haven't read her backlist, go to your library now, read them, and continue with this review at a later time.

First off, I'll say this book really reminded me of vintage Jennifer Crusie. The wacky side characters, the interconnected people/plots, and how things concluded.

Scott's books are always positive, plus size friendly, and make you feel good. She makes imperfect people perfect for each other in a way that just makes you wanna cheer and do a little boogie on your couch.

The premise of this one is a little more unique than Scott's other books. "Things go from awkward to unbelievable when Lars knocks down a wall and discovers a divorce certificate dated ten years in the future…with both their names on it. It couldn’t possibly be real, could it? As Susie and Lars work to unravel the document’s origins, the impossibility of a spark between them suddenly doesn’t seem so far-fetched. But would a relationship between them be doomed before it’s even begun?"

I didn't know if I'd like the suspended belief part of the future divorce certificate but it made sense within the confines of the story. It's a little different but it ultimately works if you suspend your belief a little. There are crappy ex boyfriends, lovable friends, and swoony heroes in this one. All in a all a page turner with great plot development, lovely characters, and is guaranteed to keep you up until 2am reading (which I was!)
