One of my favorite things as a reader is to jump into a book with only a synopsis and knowledge that you've really enjoyed the author's books in the past. I went into END OF STORY by Kylie Scott, having read only a couple of her books, and none of them the ones that are most often mentioned. I am a big fan of friends to lovers, especially those with a twist, and knew that I like Kylie's style, so in I went. I was absolutely delighted with this story, with Susie and Lars and the whole sort of mystery behind their romance, and so glad that I had the opportunity to read this book.
Kylie has infused Susie, Lars, and really all of the characters, with wit as well as self-knowledge and sensitivity, and their interactions left me smiling and invested in seeing where their journey took them through all of the twists and turns. END OF STORY is a quick read, not because it's short, but because I didn't want to stop until I saw how everything turned out for everyone, and I could not put it down.
END OF STORY is a solid 4.5 stars for me, and one of my favorite contemporary romance reads of 2023. I wouldn't mind at all if we got stories for more of the characters in this world. As a note, END OF STORY is completely different from any of Kylie's books that I've read (or listened to!) in the past. If contemporary romance with characters that you'd want to hang out with are your thing, this one should definitely be on your TBR. Grab it and enjoy! ❤️
End of Story had a very interesting premise and beginning, and I like the characters of Susie and Lars, particularly the latter. The chemistry was strong and I liked their growing friendship to lovers, because like Thanos they were inevitable. I didn’t get the full resolution I would have liked even though there was a satisfying epilogue.
This was a quirky little read with classic romance mixed with some paranormal vibes. It had a mystery element too so definitely a lot going on but in the end I liked it.
From beginning to end Kylie Scott's latest release, "End of Story," kept me captivated and wanting to read more. The characters were beyond amazing and the plot was so distinctively unique. Inheriting a home from her aunt, Susie hires a local company to make repairs. She never expected Lars, her ex's best friend who she hasn't seen in years, to show up. As they start repairs on the home, they find an intriguing document within its walls, divorce paperwork from ten years in the future with both of their names written on it. With many questions but no explanations, they come together trying to find any answers on how it happened. This truly was such an amazing book to read! Definitely one I recommend checking out and picking up!
End of Story is a sweet, lighthearted, and entertaining rom-com with paranormal vibes. This book is more of women's fiction, having a clean and swoon-worthy romance with an intriguing plot.
This story is very funny and spunky. The characters are enjoyable, and a bit strange, but the author develops them beautifully into a wild and wacky relationship. Susie and Lars are on fire and the steam coming off this book makes you want this story never ends.
The novel explores the themes of fate, second chances, and whether love can overcome past mistakes. It also explores the idea of opposites attracting, as Susie and Lars have very different personalities and worldviews.
I enjoyed the paranormal mystery that was blended with the sweet friends-to-lovers trope. I love her mad writing skills!
Do yourself a favour and check this one out for a fabulous read you will fall in love with!
This one was a cute read. I really liked the main character, Susie, and I thought it was a super funny read. Didn't know how I felt about the supernatural elements, but I eventually just went with it.
No, ugh. I really wanted to love this one because it’s everything I love in a book, but it was a struggle to make it through and I did not enjoy it
Listen. I have been a Kylie Scott fan since almost day 1. There will never be anything she writes that I don't immediately love. This books is no different. She handles any trope she tries her hand at like an expert and I loved every word. If you're a Kylie fan you'll love it. If you're not one already get cracking! She's amazing.
As a Kylie fan that I am, this book did not disappoint me, a beautiful friends to lovers that is completely worth reading.
The protagonists knew each other since Lars is the best friend of her ex, they were friends, they distanced themselves but due to things in life (or fate) they meet again when he is called to fix some things in the house that Susie inherited from his aunt, some super crazy things happen here that catch you and you just want to keep reading and reading to see what happens. The side characters are lovely, already considering that the found family is a trope in this book; In addition to that, the tension between Lars and Susie???? we can see it from the first moment, but what I liked the most is how they became friends and they were managing things, yes, we found a divorce paper with their names and that led them to being more together but I feel like they already had that connection even though Susie was with-he-who-cannot-be-named and I really liked seeing the evolution of all of that.
I liked this whole fantasy environment that created Kylie in this book, I never expected everything to be resolved that way and it has minimal drama like i like!
This was very sweet and adorable. The storyline was unique, the writing was great as always with Kylie Scott. I did read the novella first, which I think helped, especially because the ex shows up in this one, but is mentioned well before that. I kind of dislike when people are childish about their ex spouses (like calling them names or refusing to speak of them or whatever) and I really did not love that Lars stayed friends with him even though he was a huge douche. Anyway. I loved the start of this book, it did lag a little in the middle for me, but by the end I was glad I stuck with it. I didn’t love that we never really got a resolution with the divorce certificate, but ultimately I thought Lars and Susie were adorable together and that was a fabulous epilogue.
Different than her Rock Star series, End of Story contains a bit of supernatural when Susie inherits a house from her aunt, and the contractor doing some work finds a divorce certificate between the two of them in the walls.
The story includes some complexity with Lars being the BFF of her ex, and her own BFF gets involved with his brother. It doesn't confuse the reader, but there's parallel storylines here that add to the narrative.
Recommended to read the end of the novel first that contains the backstory novella (Beginning of the Story), but can be read from end to the start.
When this book took an unexpected supernatural turn, I was puzzled and intrigued. I found myself completely won over by the chemistry between the main characters, the dry humor, & the friendship to lovers trope paired with their excellent communication skills. The open-ended conclusion to the supernatural aspect left me with plenty of theories, but was also satisfying. The universe worked its magic to bring two unlikely people together and we're left with a sweet and unusual romance, End of Story.
I thought I would love this story based on the plot but this was just boring. I can't say that I liked either character. There wasn't much build up of either of them. There interactions didn't feel real, the felt scripted.
Loved this story. A bit of the supernatural and romance, it was delightful. I read the entire book in 2 evenings. Susie and Lars are good main characters. The ending was unique, the first chapter is actually behind the epilog. It works for the story, trust me on that.
I voluntarily read and reviewed and advance reader copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book had a lot of potential and it falls short.
The premise is unique and the book pulls you in at first and then somewhere along the way it just lost its stride. Conversations become repetitive and ultimately you're left wanting more. There just wasn't enough done past the death certificate or even with it as our plot.
Not a bad book, just needed more work.
After a humiliating breakup with her boyfriend Aaron, Susie is focused on work and fixing up her aunt's house that she inherited. She is surprised to see her ex-boyfriend's best friend is the person working on the house. When a divorce certificate is found in the wall with Susie and Lar's names on it, the friends begin to see each other in a new light. The blend of the paranormal with friends-to-lovers makes this book a fun and easy read.
Another solid book from Kylie Scott - I know she will always deliver a lighthearted story with humour. The premise is admittedly a little bonkers, but that's ok - once I accept that I can usually roll with it. I would have liked to have some of Lars' perspective, so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it more than I did (I'm also in a book slump, so maybe that's it?). I would still recommend this book, especially if you're a Kylie Scott fan, or looking for a contemporary romance with a little zaniness.
I really liked this book! Lars and Susie were both great characters and I really loved the chemistry between them. And the side characters were all funny and interesting. The plot line really draws in the reader right from the start, with a mystery divorce certificate dated 10 years in the future. Overall really a great book - I didn't want to put it down!
End of Story was a novel I had high hopes for.
Susie is a public relations manager who recently inherited her aunt's house. When Lars, her exe's best friend, shows up to do some handiwork he discovers a divorce certificate foe the future. The crazy part is that it's for himself and Susie. Both journey towards finding where this certificate came from and what that means for themselves. END OF STORY!
I was intrigued with this premise and have wanted to read a book by Kylie Scott. However; as the book went on, I lost interest and was disappointed to discover that the book had an ending that left more questions.
Susie has just inherited her aunts house and is having it remodeled. Lars is doing the work and happens to be the best friend of her ex. When they find an extremely unexpected document they don’t know what to think. They find a divorce document with both their names on it….dated ten years from now! How the heck do you explain that? As these two spend time together trying to figure out what all this means they grow closer. They Start to realize they have real feelings for each other. The characters in this book had big personalities unfortunately this book really dragged for me. We never really got all our questions answered and I really Wanted to like this book. I would Definitely give this author another chance.
