First of all, this cover, how cute! This story starts off with Susie and how the last 6 months of her life have been super rough. She got dumped and she lost her Aunt Susan (who she was named after). She has been fighting with her family after inheriting her aunt's home. She's ready to move on and start her best HGTV life. She calls a contractor and who shows up at her door? Of course, her ex's best friend, Lars. They're doing work in the home and things get a little crazy...

Susie finds a divorce certificate that is for her and Lars dated for ten years in the future & this book continues on for them trying to figure out this certificate and this makes them have to spend time together.

There were aspects of this book that I really loved!!
This wasn't any story I've really read before. The trope was good! It did slow down at certain parts where I was almost trying to push through to get the next exciting part.

Overall, I did really like this story and would be happy to give Kylie Scott another try!! As for rating, 3.5 stars rounded up!

I think this was a mix of Classic Kylie Scott meets something new that I am interested in reading more of.
The slightest forbidden flair with the ex's best friend trope but making it way more digestible for the general public by making them friends to lovers was done very well.
We get a full view of both characters and their realistic hesitations. The wholesome parts mixed with the swoony romantic parts make this book a beautiful romantic journey.

This is the first in a new series and this is Susie and Lar’s story. Susie inherits a charming fixer upper from her aunt, and she is taken aback when her ex’s best friend Lars, arrives on her doorstep as the contractor. These two must work together to unveil the mystery of a divorce agreement with both of their names on it, which he found hidden behind a wall. This is a sweet and light-hearted story, with humor, witty banter, emotions, angst, romance, challenges, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Kylie Scott has written her signature characters with smart and slightly sarcastic characters whose dialogue delights from page one. A storyline that flows with Susie's up and down emotions as she fights her attraction to the BFF of the ex, "who shall not be named." How Lars fights his attraction to this brilliant, sexy, friendly, and funny woman; as he begins to wonder just how good a man that ex "who shall not be named" actually is. Add to that a mysterious divorce certificate that appears from the future sets the dominoes into motion for a love story that frightens them and drives them toward, as Lars says, "the inevitable." It was a bumpy ride at times, but enjoyable from page one. It was not a smooth slide into their HEA, but it was well thought out and honest for both parties. You can enjoy this a feel a sense of joy when you finish the book that will leave you with a happy heart sigh.

Susie runs her own social media management firm, and her life is a mess. Susie can’t seem to catch a break. First her boyfriend tells her he wants to see other people, and even worse, he tells her this, in front of other people. Then her aunt dies, and everything is passed down to her. Susie then has to deal with family members trying to get their cut.

Susie hires a contractor to fix up her aunts place. The contractor is a grumpy friend of her ex boyfriend. Lara and Susie spend a lot of time together…..

End of Story by Kylie Scott is a fresh story, with very everyday events and excellent characters. This book is full of crazy moments, friendship, entanglements, and a lot of love, The characters Susie and Lars are so relatable and made you want to keep reading to learn more about them and where their story would go. I love this author and have read many books from her. This is different from her other books but I absolutely enjoyed it!

Susie and Lars are so good together, even when they’re not and despite a rocky start. Be sure to read the prequel, Beginning of the End (that will probably be at the end of your copy of End of Story), to know the backstory and, oh, what a backstory it is!

If you enjoy a little unexplainable intrigue and love a FMC who is comfortable in her own skin and knows she deserves better than she’s gotten in the past, End of Story will give you the warm fuzzies…promise!

For Kylie Scott fans, think of Lars as a more transparent Joe from The Dive Bar series and think of Susie as a cross between Evelyn from The Stage Dive series and Clem from Repeat. And, for those of you who haven’t a clue who these characters are, you are missing out! Jump into Kylie Scott’s worlds - I’m sure glad I did!

I wanted to like this book. And it wasn't that I disliked it... I just hated the main character. She seemed kind of shallow and one dimensional, and we were told rather than shown that she's outspoken. I couldn't follow her thought process because it seemed inconsistent, and the humor didn't land for me.
I loved the male love interest and the side characters.

What do you do when you find a divorce certificate with your name on it dated 10 years in the future and the groom is your ex’s best friend.
Susie is anti-marriage mainly because of how she grew up. Her parent’s marriage ended in divorce. Her own relationships have not worked out either.
Lars is a type of guy who has to have a girlfriend at all times. As soon as one relationship ends he gets involved in another one.
When Lars and Susie discover the certificate they both think it’s a joke. The feeling I had throughout this whole story was they did everything they could not to let this certificate become a reality, and to prove it wrong. Susie fought her feelings for Lars. One because her ex is his best friend. Talk about awkward. Lars wanted to start something regardless of his friendship with Aaron. Once both were on the same page the divorce certificate was always there. But they made their relationship work regardless. They were perfect together. Besides, who can really predict the future.

While I’m not sure what I expected from this story, this wasn’t it. Not that that’s a bad thing, but there was an underlying level of mysticism that surprised me. I don’t know why that is when I had read the blurb and knew what the story was about. I guess I figured the mysterious paper would have a quick explanation, not that it would carry throughout the story as it did.

The reasons both Susie and Lars have to keep their relationship on a platonic level are valid, but also unrealistic with the pull they have toward each other. Of course, Susie has great reasons to mistrust the person who is her tool of an ex-boyfriend’s best friend. I mean, you can’t be as great as you seem if you don’t see the faults in someone like her ex, Aaron. But Lars is blind to his friend’s faults. He’s intensely loyal and they have been friends basically their whole lives. As Susie starts meeting other people who are close to Lars, she begins to realize that he’s as great as he seems other than his blinders in this one area.

Lars, for his part, feels it’s not proper to date his friend’s ex. Even though his friend is not in the country and is the one that did the breaking up. Thankfully, as the story progresses, Lars opens his eyes to the reality of his friendship with Aaron and the true friendship (and maybe more) he could have with Susie. Once he gets out of his own way, the sparks fly.

There are plenty of speedbumps along the way. Not only is Lars best friends with Aaron, but his mom is also Aaron’s mom’s best friend. This leads to a not-so-great first meeting which did not put Lars’ mom in a great light. Also, what to do about this mysterious divorce certificate, how does it come into play if these two give a true relationship a go? Or should it even be a factor? On top of that, Susie is still dealing with her grief over her aunt’s passing and her family’s greedy reaction to her inheritance.

This story was fun at times and serious at others. My heart broke for Susie over and over. I love the little things Lars did for Susie throughout the story, but even more, I loved the big things he did once his blinders were off. His siblings and Susie’s best friend were lovely additions to the story and kept things light when levity was needed.

I have loved Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series, her Dive Bar series and pretty much any one-off novel that she’s written. So, when I saw this cute cover and read the synopsis I knew I wanted to get my hands on a copy of this novel.

I immediately connected with Susie. After a disastrous previous relationship, she isn’t very trusting, but Lars easy-going personality and eye-candy good looks go a long way towards convincing herself to not give up on love. Being together is more difficult than being apart yet they are determined to be friends if not anything else and it’s through that friendship that Susie starts to trust in Lars. He’s solid and steady, which is just what her more high-strung self needs. Opposites attract, and they are definitely opposites. Yet, there’s something that I loved about watching them move towards each other and building that bond.

Kylie Scott knows how to build great characters so I wasn’t surprised that I loved both Susie and Lars. What I was surprised about was the more mystical side of this plot that centered around a document from the future. It was a sweet note to a rather hearty romance. I liked that the story circled back around to it, keeping it involved in the plot.

If you’re like me, a love of Kylie Scott’s writing, it’s not going to take much from me to get you to pick up this book and read it. If you have never read one of her novels, I think this is a really sweet entrance into her writing. Enjoy! I know I did. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review and it was honest!

Susie has inherited her aunt’s house. It is a super duper fixer upper. Her contractor just happens to be her ex boyfriend’s best friend, Lars. While they are doing some demo work, a divorce degree with Susie and Lars name is discovered in the wall. But, it is dated 10 years in the future. Well…this opens a can of worms.

I adored Lars! Talk about an all around good guy…he is definitely one of them. He and Susie fit so well together. Basically because he cares, AND IT SHOWS! Susie, is a bit different. She is struggling from her past relationship and she just can’t accept that Lars is there. But, as you can guess, things start to head in that direction and it is a fun ride getting there!

The only reason for the 3 stars is the paranormal part just did not fit, in my opinion. And it is just my opinion. Read it and let me know what your thoughts are. I am always open to talk about it!

Need a cute romantic comedy with a paranormal twist…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I really enjoy this romance comedy with grumpy-sunshine trope. What a fun read. This one definitely put a big smile on my face.

What I like:
- Grumpy-sunshine trope, one of my fav tropes in romance, so yeah I love it.
- The story, it's a fun easy-to-read romance with a dash of paranormal. It's engaging and the paranormal part really makes it a page-turner one.
- The characters. I adore and admire Susie, I wish I could be blunt like her. She's just so bright and always makes me laugh. Lars, well who doesn't love this kind big heart giant grumpy loyal handyman? I sure do love this man.
- The banter. It was superb, so cute and sweet and funny.
- All the feeling this book brings, I can feel all the love, the sadness, the frustration and the anger.
- The steaminess. This one is so spicy.

What I don't like: I wished there's more conclusion of the mystery of that paranormal stuff

Recommended: Yes especially if you're looking for a fun and sweet and steamy rom-com with grumpy and sunshine trope.

The premise of this story is so different, yet ends up making the book so delightful. Susie has inherited a fixer-upper house from her aunt and the contractor that shows up to help her is unfortunately her exes. Best friend Lars. What makes the situation interesting and intriguing and so different is that when they start going through the house, they find divorce papers from 10 years in the future between Susie and Lars. Now the fun part is seeing how a relationship develops between Susie and Lars. There is definitely an attraction, and they are trying to solve the mystery of these divorce papers but as they start to get close there is always the specter of Susie’s ex. Aaron is Lars oldest friend, and that of course affects the relationship that is building with Susie. Susie needs to get over the trauma of her past and her break up in order to move forward with Lars. The secondary characters are also so much fun and all in all this book is one that you can’t put down. I highly recommend end of story for anyone who wants a whimsical opposites, attract romance

End Of Story by Kylie Scott.

I was absolutely obsessed by this story. Heartwarming, sexy, entertaining and so captivating. These characters are a bit awkward at first, but soon an adorable attraction as well as a steamy connection becomes so much more than they ever imagined. I loved this friends to lovers romance. Getting to watch the progression of their relationship brought all the feels and I just didn’t want this story to end.

Susie Bowen is excited to start living her best HGTV life by fixing up the charming house that her dear aunt left to her six months ago. After doing some of the work herself she is excited to have a contractor help get things done for her. But when she opens the door to find her ex’s best friend Lars, she isn’t ready to have anyone in her space that is in alliance with the enemy. But beggars can’t be choosy and she needs the repairs done now.

Lars isn’t to thrilled to be Susie’s contractor but when he finds a divorce certificate hidden in a wall dated ten years in the future with both their names on it. This can’t possibly be real? He accuses Susie of planting it but can’t figure out how she did it. Or why? As they work together to figure out where this certificate came from a spark between them doesn’t seem to be so far-fetched. But would their relationship be doomed before it’s even begun?

You don’t want to miss this magical heartwarming story! Where a little magic helps bring a happily ever after!

this was my very first novel by kylie scott and i must say i did enjoy it!. it was a very cute kind of rom-com book! it was definitely a fun read. this title releases on feb. 14, and is cute enough to be perfect for valentines day <3

i thought lars and susie were really cute together. and their banter had me giggling. the way their journey starts it definitely interesting. i have never read a book with that premise before (the divorce certificate from the future trope) but this definitely had some of my other favorite tropes(: i really liked susie’s relationship with her best friend cleo. they were such cute friends. susie’s family absolutely sucked and i really felt for her. you could tell the relationships she did have meant so much to her because of that 🥺

this was a nice and easy read and i definitely would recommend if you’re looking for something quick and easy. the characters and susie’s inner monologue reminded me a lot of a tessa bailey novel, so i had a good time 🤍 this story really talks about not giving up on yourself, knowing you deserve love (love that’s good and healthy), and also shows our main character breaking toxic relationship patterns and growing up a lot. it was a sweet story!

✨tropes:
-ex-boyfriend’s best friend
-paranormal mystery vibes
-grumpy/sunshine
-forced proximity

When Susie inherited her aunt’s house, she was surprised when the contractor that she hired for renovations turned out to be Lars, her ex-boyfriend’s best friend. Things seemed to be going well, until they came across an even bigger surprise. Hidden within one of the walls was a divorce certificate, dated ten years in the future, with both of their names on it.

This was such a unique premise! What would you do if you started to have feelings for someone, but you knew that your relationship was bound to be doomed? Is there any truth to destiny, or could you attempt to change your fate? Although I personally didn’t feel overly connected to either of the main characters, End of Story was still a enjoyable and entertaining read. The plot line was really intriguing! Grab it this Valentine’s Day if you’re in the mood for a fun, lighthearted, romcom!

I’ve been loving Kylie’s books for years now and couldn’t pass on the opportunity to read her new trad pub story. That being said, it’s really interesting to see how her usual writing from angsty, steamy and fulfilling romance will fall into a more tame story meant to satiate more readers. And I’m here for it all because I want more people to discover her beautiful words.

Susie deserves much more and better in her life and when her ex is breaking up with her publicly and her aunt passed away, she sees the opportunity to start anew. It’s not going to be easy dealing with new emotions, a found family and a bigger than one may think can deal with projects. But it all works out in the end.
I loved how she stands up for herself in any situation and also how she lets her more vulnerable self be seen by Lars, the man that tries his best to keep his bro code up but can’t deny his attraction and feelings for her.

It’s hilarious, beautiful and uplifting. A must read romance from a favourite author.

Susie + Lars

We already met those two in the prequel novella Beginning of the End. You don't have to read that - but it was a cute introduction.

Susie is thirty years old. And she just inherited a fixer upper house in Seattle from her aunt.
Enter Lars. He's the best friend of her idiot ex. And he'll be working on her house.

Can she be friends with someone who likes her ex?

And that's not the only complication between Susie and Lars!

Let the fun times begin...

ADORABLE!
That was soo cute!
I could've lived without the weird divorce papers in the wall. That made it all a bit silly. I just don't know why it had to be in the book at all? Either make it all really magically or supernaturally mysterious or just leave it out completely!
But the rest of the story was so adorable. I just loved those two together. I especially loved their meal-sharing thing. That would be SO me with the right person!

I really loved reading this. Cutest romance with the cutest cover!

A tiny thing that I noticed in Kylie's books. The stories just ... start. We open the book and we're right in the first scene with both main characters.
There's no prologue/intro/a first page describing the location or situation. No IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT ...
We're just bam! Right in the story.
It's not that I hate it. But it's a bit weird, right? I hate unnecessary bla bla and drama and too much redundant stuff in books, but the way Kylie does it somhow bothers me a tiny little bit... no idea why.

But pfft - I loved this book!

► END OF STORY was a super adorable rom-com-HGTV love story.
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Lars - this one is MINE!
