Snail likes to party, but isn’t a fan of loudness. This makes it tricky for him to join in on the fun as many of Snails peers thinks he’s out of place! Snail decides to throw his own party and you’ll never guess who joins him! This story offered great representation for those who prefer a little peace and quiet in their social gatherings.
How to Party Like a Snail is a wonderfully adorable book. The illustrations are detailed and colorful. The concept of the book really will hit home to introverts that want to be part of the fun, but in their own way. A good book to help teach children that not everyone enjoys the same things the same way. Would highly recommend.
This is an adorable picture book about a snail who likes to party. However, he likes to party quietly. When he stops receiving invites to parties he gets a little sad, but then he comes up with an idea to party in his own way. This book could be used when talking about your sense of hearing to discuss loud and quiet. It is also a great read for showing that it's ok to like different things and people shouldn't be left out when they party differently.
A book about finding your people and being comfortable with who you are, that also just happens to be adorably illustrated!
Oh my gosh I enjoyed this one! Snail and I have the same idea on what makes a fun party. This is a really cute book and the humor is spot on.
Maybe unintentional, but this book would actually be great for children with sensory processing disorder, anxiety, shyness, ect. My toddler has ASD and is sound sensitive. I think he would relate to the snail and get some important messages from this book. This is a great one for classroom libraries.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this book! I liked the representation of quiet fun and how that's just a fun as loud fun.
Very expressive faces and good colors. The font is easy to read. The art is cartoony and cute. The snail is an introvert and likes to party quietly. In the middle of the story, I was a little afraid it would turn into one of those "Snail gets lonely at their quiet party and it turns out they like the loud stuff too," BUT it didn't go down that road. As a introverted person, I really appreciate the gentle ending!
Everyone loves parties but not everyone has the same idea of how a party should be. Snail for instance likes quiet and relaxation which is not the most popular mindset. How to Party Like a Snail is a great book to teach kids how to embrace who they are and lean into what they enjoy. I would have liked a compromise at the end or a silent party, something that brought the other animals to embrace snail's preferences
OH MY GOD. I love this book SO MUCH. It’s absolutely ADORABLE! I love the SHHHush! And that they party in their hearts! This was just heavenly! And quiet kids will love this!
I received this book as an ARC from the publisher for my honest review.
Snail likes the quiet parts during parties and being with his friends. However, when things get loud he party’s from inside his shell. His friends don’t understand this and stop inviting him to their parties.
Snail instead makes a SHHH party with all his favorite quiet things. He also finds out that Stump likes the same things that Snail does.
I think that this story is a great way to tell children that it’s okay to be different and to have likes and dislikes than your friends. I like that Snail finds a friend in Stump.
However, it would have been nice if Snails other friends came to his party and learned to appreciate the quiet party too. Otherwise the book is sending a message that you can’t be friends with people who don’t like the same things as you. At least it could have had them be kind and apologize for their behavior. It didn’t feel like there was closure from the original issue.
I'm excited to share this book with my community when it comes out. The illustrations are cute and the dialogue between the characters had me laughing out loud. Through snail kids learn there are different ways to party. Not all parties have to be loud and rowdy. I think lots of kids can relate to Snail having fun inside the shell instead of outside with everybody else. I loved that Stump joined Snail later on for their type of party quiet and chill.
**Thank you to Owl Kids Books in connection with School Library Journal's Picture Book Palooza for the review copy. This in no way changed my opinion**
About a week ago, a patron at the library where I work asked me what my favorite picture book was. I didn't have an answer then because I'm not typically a picture book reader, but when this becomes available in September, it's this. I felt this book in my introverted soul ♥️
The book is about a snail who likes to party...but he likes to do so *quietly*. When the party becomes too rowdy, he retreats inside his shell and parties inside, where it's quieter and he can still enjoy himself. The book is a love letter to introverts who enjoy doing things with friends but also know when it's too much and can pull back. I love that this book exists to show kids it's okay if you don't feel like being loud and that you'll find friends who support that. I love it.
Additionally, the illustrations are super cute and fun. The party he has with stump looks so cozy and warm. I would be interested in checking out the other works of both author and illustrator. This is a home run.

This picture book is so funny. The pictures are bright, colorful, and make me smile from the inside out. Snail is not a complainer. Snail embraces experiences, even challenging ones. Snail thought he knew what he liked and was able to appreciate what he was missing.
Not everyone likes things loud. Sometimes quiet is okay too. I love that this book shows readers that it's okay to have fun in different ways. Adorable illustrations, easy to read text. Would make a good read-aloud.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.
This was such an adorable book. It was very uplifting and has a great storyline for kids! And it also includes a cute snail :)
Miigweetch to Netgalley and Owlkids Books for the DRC.
This was a beautifully done children’s book that will have readers puzzling to themselves afterwards because it is impossible to not feel a kinship with the title character! Fantastic tale about an introverted snail who prefers quiet to loud, and his journey to find a friend to enjoy the “shush” with. Lovely story about accepting differences in ourselves and others.
I absolutely adored the artwork and look forward to adding this to our library. I recommend this book to anyone who works with young children, extroverted and shy, to show the breadth of the earthly experience and that it’s ok to feel and be different.
Such a cute story! Snail loves parties, but sometimes they get a little too loud for him so he hides in his shell. Soon he stops getting invited to parties so he throws his own party and finds a friend who appreciates things a little less wild too!
An adorable tale to show that you don’t have to be the life of the party to have a great time!
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advance digital copy in exchange for an honest review
What a delightful story of a snail who is lonely since he doesn't like loud parties. He discovers he likes quiet parties and gets a friend who likes that too.
The illustrations were superb and fun and I loved the themes of friendship and adaptability.
Thank you so much for my advanced readers copy for an honest review.
Thanks to Owlkids for providing an advance e-copy of this book via NetGalley.
This picture book will resonate with children who are overwhelmed by lots of noise. Snail likes the people at the parties he gets invited to. What he doesn't like is all the noise they make. When Snail retreats into his shell, he thinks he is continuing to party, just quietly. Others don't see it that way and stop inviting him to parties. Poor snail waits by his mailbox for the postman...who happens to be a snail delivering snail mail! In an exercise in problem solving, snail finally attends a party just right for him.
In How To Party Like a Snail, Naseem Hrab brings us a hero who prefers to keep things quiet, but his friends think he'd just rather not attend their parties anymore. Snail decides to throw his own party, but it might be too quiet even for Snail. A sweet story about friendship and the joys of sometimes keeping things low key.
I loved this book! A great book for all the quiet kids out there who might not be the loud part animals their friends are. There's always someone to be with in your own way, and always someone who will love you for the way you are. Even if that way is quiet.
